Found this Mexican restaurant by accident. Decided to try it out as it looked like a lot of locals ate here. Always a good sign. Seated and given menus right away. Waitresses were very friendly and helpful when we had questions. Order at the front of the restaurant. Food came pretty quickly and looked and tasted delicious. I had one shrimp street taco and my husband had the carne asada omelet. In the picture of my taco, my husband put the avocado on it. It didn't come that way. The mural painted on the wall was so well done and fun to look at. When we are back in Oceano, we will definitely come by here again. read more

Michelin restaurant is where it seems their seafood tacos came from. I tried their shrimp and fish tacos yesterday. The fish and shrimp were the freshest you can get! The fish and shrimp were seasoned and cooked to perfection! The tacos don't come with cabbage or dressing, which I added. They provided ranch dressing on the side so I was able to put just the right amount on each taco. The dressing is not to strong and not to thick. It goes with seafood perfectly! I put one row of dressing and their red hot salsa on each taco. They were the best seafood tacos I have ever had. In fact, I'm going to blow my monthly dining budget and go back today for another 8-tacos! read more

Super yummy food with really great prices. My boyfriend got a Jumbo Wet burrito and it was so huge! He had leftovers which doesn't happen often haha. I just decided to get a single taco and oh boy that was even filling for me believe or not! They loaded it with meat and onion and put a yummy spicy salsa on it. So delicious! We decided to get take out, and from that the service seemed nice. The food took a bit but they had other people there was well. After long travel day we were all very hungry and wanted Mexican. We ordered DoorDash from Efren's based on selection and Yelp reviews. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with the results. I ordered the shrimp enchiladas (pictured). They were covered in shredded lettuce and the corn tortilla was very soggy (sign the tortillas were not fried a little before rolling). They were also cold and the sauce had no flavor. They also forgot one of our main dishes. The chips are homemade, which is nice. But the green salsa was flavorless in my opinion. The BRC's were really good as was the side order of rice. Finally, they didn't include any napkins or utensils with our order. read more

You order form the register and they have a very nice dining room where they bring you the food. This go around I had a carne asada taco ( meat was really good ) and a Hard Chicken taco. Horrible customer service!! I don't think the employees know the menu. I called in on Super Bowl Sunday for the Mega Nachos to go. The girl repeatedly asked me what kind of meat I wanted. When I tried to explain that on the menu it says it already comes with 3 meats she still didn't understand. I asked to speak to someone else and she hung up on me. Called back and immediately got put on hold for a couple minutes. Then she got back on the line with me and did the exact same thing. When I told her it already comes with 3 meats for $12.99 on the menu she just kept asking " but what kind of meat do you want?" I said it comes with 3 meats already for $12.99 then I listed all the 3 meats it says it comes with on the menu and she tried to charge me extra and said it was $17. I told her no that was too much and hung up. This is not even the first time this has happened, but it is the first and last time I have been unsuccessful in ordering the mega nachos because of the staff incompetency. The employees need to know the menu if they are going to be taking to go orders on the phone. read more

The shrimp are perfect, and my friend from fresno, which is know for having some of the best authentic mexican food this side of tijuana, said she had the best chili verde chimmychanga she has EVER HAD! (Review based on 3.5 stars) Efren's Deli is located across the street from a small church and also diagonally across from Sylvesters Burgers with (free) street parking available. There is one small table (covered) outside in the back in case you wish to dine with your four legged friend. Please note that there is a special door for to go orders, although you can also make to go orders at the restaurant as well. There is also a small counter outside with some counter seating if you want to eat your item there but it isn't the best set up. Anyways, my husband and I came here on a Monday afternoon around 12:45 pm. We were greeted and told to sit anywhere. The place was empty for the most part (not surprised since it was a non holiday Monday). We were brought menus and ended up ordering: Enchiladas Combo, $11.99 prior to tax- This combination comes with 3 small enchiladas, with your choice of meat. I picked chicken. This meal also comes with rice, beans and a beverage. A pretty filling meal and perfect for one person. There was also a pile of lettuce and cheese on top of the enchiladas (like a salad?). I thought that 3 enchiladas would be too much food, but they were small and filled on the thin side. I liked the filling. Torta Efren's, $8.50 prior to tax- This sandwich comes with asada, carnitas and pastor, in addition to beans, cheese, lettuce, sour cream, guacamole, onions and jalapenos. Definitely a messy sandwich, with all that is packed into it. But it was tasty. ------------------------ (Total= $21.98 after tax, prior to tip) Now the total would have been the price above, however we were charged for our beverage, even though my enchiladas combo comes with rice, beans and a drink. Our server said the drink my husband picked is not part of the free drink choice (which we did not know and since she took our order down, we assumed it was part of it). So the employee ringing my husband up said she will just charge the difference for the beverage. Because it was the employee's error, she really should have just given us the drink for free. Service was fine, as our server did check back with us at least once during our meal. I liked the mural paintings on the walls, with so much attention to detail and expression in them. My favorite family owned and operated Mexican restaurant in Oceano! The location is perfect as it is right downtown with lots of street parking and a parking lot in the rear as well as a patio that is pet friendly. The music and entertainment is fun on any day of the week. There are specials every day and I always recommend the micheladas. The staff has always been friendly to us even though half the time my uncle does not know what he is ordering they always help him with a smile. we use to frequent more often and would every day if we could afford it but the prices are good still even after many years at the same location. If you are driving through Oceano on hwy 1 just look for Beach Street as it goes right through downtown and it is right between the post office and La Tapatia Market and Deli.
