We found some of our favorite snacks at the front and grabbed those on our way to look at the meats. The first red flag, all of the meat was the same dull, brown color. It looked like it had been sitting there for a while and was going bad. The second red flag was that there was no signage for price or what each meat even was. We stood there at the meet counter and noticed some workers talking to each other in the aisle about 10' from us. They said hello and that was all. Didn't ask if we needed help picking or purchasing anything and didn't even seem enthusiastic when saying hello. There was no one else in the store. While they conversed, we started looking at some sauces they had in the aisle behind us. The third red flag, and what ultimately made me put my snacks down and leave was that there was an odd looking jar of Tostino's on the shelf. I was pretty certain of what I was looking at so I urned the jar to check the date, and sure enough, it had expired in January of 2025!! The very front product! Obviously there is no FIFO (first in, first out) in this store. I pointed it out to my partner and we left without purchasing anything. The overall lack of care they had to help customers, as well as gross looking meat and expired product just made me severely unnerved. I recommend going elsewhere for tacos whether you're making them yourself or eating in house.

I love, love, love this place. The atmosphere is everything you want it to be for a family owned Taqueria in Springfield. Yolanda, the owner, is amazingly nice and always remembers to ask me how my family is when I'm in there without them. And the food. My personal favorite is the Al Pastor. So much flavor it's like a party in my mouth. In a burrito, taco or even the Super Nacho it's fantastic. The Super Nacho is a perfect cheap option for two that my wife and I often will share. It's super. My daughter loves the amazing Breakfast burritos served all day too. Top all this off with great Horchata, Jarritos, and Arcade style Soccer it's your perfect Taqueria. Now let's talk price. Really cheap for what you get. And, if you ask Yolanda for add-ons like Guacamole or Sour Cream, she'll generally just give it to you, unlike other places that will charge you an arm and a leg. Really love this place. read more

Here's the thing about El Taco... It is delicious, like really and truly tasty food BUT it isn't exactly clean in the kitchen. I've had my stomach destroyed by this place on multiple occasions and still gone back. The last time we went in there we got one of our burritos and haven eaten about half cut in to find a fly. The fly had not fallen in when it was rolled up or something, it had been COOKED into the chile verde meat... Seemingly for an extended period of time because it was bloated and full of sauce. To add insult to insect when we took it up to the counter the waiter immediately spotted the fly and non chalantly offered us a new burrito. We declined and never returned, sadly. read more
