Worth the stop. We enjoyed a carne asada burrito that had nice flavor and was nicely proportioned between rice, beans, and asada. We also tried the chicken quesadilla and the beef soft tacos. Hands down my favorite restaurant in Lane County. There are some tasty alternatives, but these guys take the tacos and make 'em tasty. I'm one of those people that gets the same thing every time, not terribly adventurous, but this way I ensure that I can keep coming back. Consistency is my biggest thing: if my favorite dish tastes amazing the first time and just as good the 20th, it gets my gold star. El Taco Express is no exception. The staff are incredibly friendly and quick, and the food is amazing. The wait usually comes from the lunch/dinner rush - it's just a few dudes in the back and the one guy at the register for the most part, so they can get a little overwhelmed when everybody and their in-laws come in for some delicious grub. I highly recommend calling ahead and picking it up - you can help save yourself some time as it's usually done in about 10-12 minutes, and it stays nice and hot even on a 20-30 minute drive home (I actually burnt my mouth on my most recent burrito because I expected it to be lukewarm after our long drive and took waaaay too big a bite, lol). For the location and the price and the taste and the service, you CANNOT beat El Taco Express. read more

ummmmm, I wonder why this establishment got 4 1/2 stars.....really disappointed. Just stepping in, i could sense that it's not gonna be a good experience. First, one long table was littered with dirty dishes and dirty napkins and nobody bothered to clean it up. Second, the bathrooms were all closed due to overflowing!!! Yikes!! Third, there was only one guy at the counter, he was nice though. Fourth, there was a couple waiting for their order in front of the counter and they were kissing and necking right in front of everybody!! Ok, enough of this nonsense. Let me tell you about the food. I ordered a fish burrito. This was subpar but my husband enjoyed eating my food. He ordered a chile relleno burrito and i ended up eating his half and that was not too bad. My sons ordered the five meats burrito and the meats were dry and tasted reheated. Over all, the experience was not really good. It's disorganized chaos, if I ever saw one!! Sorry! read more

Thought to try out chile relleno and cheese enchiladas as we are veggies. Hostess behind counter was very friendly and warm. While eating her enchilada, the wife found a piece of cooked dead cow. Best place in town! Best prices, portions, menu selections, and short wait times. The best 4 things you could ask for in any restaurant. As an example, I got the chile verde burrito. I went tonight based on other reviews. It was good, not great. I spend a lot of time in Arizona, where you get really good Mexican. They were busy tonight, but the food still came out pretty much cold... beans, rice and meat. Flavor was good, could have been a little more flavorful but overall, ok. I liked the "sides" of grilled jalapenos and spicy carrots, etc. you can munch on while you're waiting. The food was excellent. Just don't use the bathroom. The bathroom was so filthy that I questioned if it was wise to consume food from this establishment. Against my better judgement, I ate what I ordered (shredded beef taco plate) and tried my boyfriend's enchiladas and it was some of the best Mexican food I have had in a long time.
