Absolutely the BEST , most authentic Mexican food we've had anywhere in Lane County, Oregon! The chile relleno is my absolute favorite, best I've ever had, incredibly flavorful! There are no bells and whistles here, so if you're looking to be waited on, go elsewhere, but if you want amazing food, you've got to try this place. I've lived down the street from here for a while now and we've talked about stopping here but just havent until today. We stopped in for lunch and lemme tell you... the lady working was soooo sweet! Talking and chatting with everyone, so friendly and happy! I got 2 al pastor tacos and a carne asada, both were fantastic! I was stuffed after finishing these, and I'm a big girl so it takes a bit of food to do that haha. They were loaded with meat and the salsas were super good! My fiance got chilaquiles with steak, they were super good, only thing he wishes was different was that the chips were tossed in the sauce rather than it just drizzled over top a little. Best Mexican food truck in town! We always get the vegetarian burritos but modify to vegan by substituting avocado instead of sour cream and cheese. We've eaten a lot of Mexican as vegans and most is just okay (speaking as a Texan here). However, they use fresh ingredients and somehow get much more flavor into their beans and rice (both vegan too). Margarite runs the front and Arturo cooks everything up. Love them both and they are so sweet to our family. Also, the prices are very good- cheaper than nearby burrito boy which is half as good. Their salsas are homemade as fantastic. Only tricky thing can be spotty hours at times, but are pretty consistent. Keep doing your thing, Lonches!! read more

Worst tamale I've ever had. I've had better tamales at the Bakersfield greyhound station at 1 am, 2 for a few dollars. Look at this! 2 of these for 4.50$...that was a "special". Also, it tastes like crap. Old meat, it's dry, and those are frozen or canned peas and carrots with plain ground beef. Oh and it's SMALL. Look at it! I ordered tamales not shepherds pie. Where is the sauce? The seasoning? I told that lady that this is akin to robbery and it is. I lived in LA, I know great Mexican food. You might be able to fool these Eugenians, but not me and I will tell everyone I know about this place and to steer clear. You should be ashamed of yourselves. read more

Best roach coach in the area. It's probably the best Mexican food i've had in the Eugene area so far. Slightly better than Mi Tierra in terms of taste and flavor of the food. Oh, and also because I seriously think Mi Tierra is the most unsanitary establishment ever (Ex: flies buzzin' all over the restaurant...going into the salsa...OK i'll stop). Besides that, i'd probably get the carne asada tacos at Lonches. Pretty tasty and good portion size for the price; 2 bucks. Get three or four of those and it'll fill you up for lunch. I can't believe we have been going here for years, and I have not left a review. First of all, I love how Mom, and Pop it is! They treat you like family every time you come when they start to remember who you are. They even remember that I can't have raw onion on mine, and I love that. I have not had anything bad on the menu, but lately my go to has been the Arturo's special, and my guy likes the chilaquiles. He says out of any where he has had them, including in Mexico these are one of the best. I also like that Arturo's special automatically comes with slices of avocado. Some places charge you extra for it, and seem like they have a problem even giving you a little wedge of it. Other places need to take note. The other thing I must touch base on is they tend to get really busy, so please call in your order if you know what you want. Most of their customers don't mind the wait for their delicious food. Oh and it is only 4 star because it is a food truck, and the location. Other wise it rates pretty high as far as good eats. read more

This is my first time that I came here and it was very good. I just moved here and I've tried a lot of places and so far this is one of the best I've come to. We got two carne asada plates, and the jalapeños were at a good spice level, and the meat was great. Definitely coming back even though I don't live in this area of Eugene. Meh... I read so many great reviews about this place. I am really, really disappointed. The carne asada was dry and tasteless. There was lettuce in the burrito, which is anathema. The fish tacos had little crema and also served with lettuce. The fish was basically Van DeKamps fried and served in a warmed tortilla. Arturo was grumbly when I asked for cilantro and onion for the tacos. I may try the enchiladas next time I am out there but Lonches is basically a watered down version of Mexican food. UPDATE: I can see from other people posts that they have fallen ill after eating here too, so these guys are really dangerous! PLEASE beware eating there! I hate to post negative reviews such as this one, but I went there in May 2014 based on the high ratings on Yelp and was very pleased at first. The owners are extremely nice and the dish I had was quite tasty aside from the quirk described hereafter (I ordered the chili releno). The chili releno had an acidic taste, and I thought at first that they were using pickled chilies which seemed unusual. Well, that was perhaps the case, but I became sick from eating this food, and my stomach problems lasted for 3 days, with fever chills on the first night. The only other food that I had after eating there on that day was a coffee with cream and sugar, and I don't believe the cream was bad. So, this was probably an isolated incident but I believe that it is important for the owners to know. Unfortunately, I did not have the time to go back to let them know (I live in CA), and hopefully this review will only help them correct potential problems rather than ruin their business. read more

We have been to so many places, and it's all crap (except for mi tierra which is decent). I had the taquitos with shredded beef, beans and rice plate. It was so good, the taquitos were delicious, and the beans, man the beans, this guy knows what he is doing, they were the best beans I have ever tasted, and I have eaten a lot of beans! The food is OK, not as good as Super Taco or Las Morenas but better than your run of the mill Burrito Boy or Burrito Amigos type places. I like the chilaquiles, and the people are nice. The problem is, it's a food cart with extremely slow service and dodgy hours. I only go here when I am passing by and it looks empty, and even then only if I have time to kill. I usually enjoy the food, although the quality and portion sizes seem to vary from visit to visit. Most times I just hit Super Taco instead. The only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is that the wait was outrageous. I know good food takes time, but the woman told us it would be a 25 minute wait when we paid and we got our food after about 40 minutes. This is the best Mexican food in town. I get the big burrito, spicy, with steak. The chicken and pork are shredded, and good, but not my preferred. I would go here every day if I could...it's not too expensive, I just think I would gain about 20 pounds a month if I did! But I would be happy! Seriously, they always have a special where you can get 2 tacos, enchiladas, or sopes with rice and beans for $5.50! Screaming deal. All of their food is fantastic. We have had the tacos (always with carnitas), enchiladas, sopes, taquitos, quesadillas (for our 3 year old son, they're loaded). The Mexican cokes in a glass bottle are delicious as well. Wish they had beer, too. Can't say enough good things about this place, really. It's kind of unfortunate that their location is a little sketchy, but I swear you can't get good Mexican food in a nice restaurant. The people who run it are great. read more

Moved here from Texas and this is the closest to the taco trucks we used to eat at. Tacos with just cilantro and onion, stacked on two little tortillas. Big soft tortas with real media crema on them. Great beans. And it's cheap. Have not tried the burritos, I know west coast folks are really into them but I am a taco guy. One of the best burritos I've ever had. I've had some of their other food as well and it all stacks up at the top of my list of best Mexican food. I would say that I agree the wait is long but if they fixed that problem they would have to pre-cook their food, which would bring down quality. Call ahead and if you want to eat there, the outdoor seating works just fine.
