I came here with a friend last week. This place has been here forever, but it's the kind of place where if you blink, you miss it. Parking is on the street only. There is no dedicated lot. I wasn't even sure they were open when we stopped by. It took a few minutes to find an employee. Once we did, he was kind and helpful. I ordered four tacos, and I forget what my friend ordered. But it wasn't an expensive lunch. We waited for what seemed like forever for everything to be ready. Walking around outside, the building looks like a shack. I'm not even sure there is running water inside. It has the same siding as the apartments behind it, so I wonder if it's ran by someone who lives there? Or if they cook in their home and bring it there? I have no idea. This seems very similar to Joey's Pizza in that as long as you close your eyes and don't pay attention to where your food is coming from, it'll be great. Food itself was quite tasty and enjoyable. We took ours to-to and went home. Seating is an outdoor table only. Which seems more appropriate just for waiting to get the food than to actually eat it there. Would I return? If I happen to be driving by and they're open, yes. I can't say I'd go out of my way to eat here though. But it was certainly tasty for a tiny little dive. read more

The man who owns this place is super friendly and makes amazing food. This place is located on the corner, maybe connected to his own house, but walk up to the window and place your order and you can sit at the tables outside. I did not get a photo but the burrito de lengua was absolutely amazing. I'm not sure if he made the tortilla himself but it tasted homemade, almost buttery with flakey flavor. It was cheesy, the beans had great flavor and the rice too. He really packs a lot of flavor into his food. The tacos are always amazing and has jalepeno, carrot, and lettuce chunks in a pico de gallon mixture. They are a little spicy which is perfect. This is kind of a hidden gem, for me at least! I never really go out far into springfield but I started buying breakfast burritos from here, and the salsa verde is super good from here. Me encanta. The meat is literally fresh, the food is fresh, they cook it right in front of you, it's good quality. The service is quick, and they're friendly as well, the vibe is standard, it's just a food truck essentially but the food is great so that's all that matters. They have tables and chairs set up which is appreciated! Definitely check out their breakfast burritos as well as regular burritos! Be sure to get extra salsa verde because it's that good! read more

Everytime I come to Springfield, I stop here and have a couple street tacos,or I'll get a yummy burrito to fuel myself for the day. It's not much when you walk or drive by, but it's really the quality of the food that comes out. The employees that are there are nice and friendly, and they're super quick when making an order. Taqueria El Trenecito is a hidden gem of authentic Mexican cuisine. Their queso tacos are one of the few things I crave in the Eugene/Springfield area. My favorite are their lengua tacos. They offer exceptional sauces. and despite the remarkable quality of their food, the price point remains unbeatable. Hands-down, my favorite spot for Mexican food! Everyone I've encountered at the window has been so kind. The food is excellent! Every Takeaway container I get is packed and the tacos always have the perfect amount of toppings. The salsa?! Incredible, and they're not stingy with it either. The spiciest one is so good I have to get extra! One time I was waiting in my car for my order (he estimated 10 minutes as there were other guests there) and within 5 minutes he brought it over to the car for me so it stayed hot and fresh! QUÈ comida sabrosa! My Duckling discovered this haven early in her collegiate career. Since she did, it's a must go to when we visit from CO. We weren't able to call ahead and we still walked away with more than enough for our graduation celebration (so sorry to the lovely gents waiting for their food)! BEST TACOS IN EUGENE/SPRINGFIELD AREA!! Super authentic flavors, the meat was juicy and incredibly flavorful, but with the amazing salsas it was OFF THE CHARTS. We ordered the Pollo and Chorizo tacos which initially weren't our first choice, so they sell our early, but they were soooo good. Totally worth the drive from south Eugene. This is a decent spot for a burrito or torta, though I don't come out of my way to come here. The quality of food has been variable and the flavors are unremarkable. The asada burritos are absolutely not worth $9, while the chicken burritos are better in terms of taste and value. They make creamy style salsa. read more

I went to Taqueria El Trenecito after a long day of swimming at Mount Pisgah, and let me tell you, the tacos/burrito hit the spot and left me wanting to buy more to take home for later! The cart is small, but has plenty of outdoor seating and a fantastic menu full of delicious flavors. I opted for a carnitas taco while my friends got a quesadilla and asada burrito! All were great! Yes it is right in the heart of the GHETTO, but don't let that fool you! This guy knows how to cook up some street taco's that will make you think you are South of the boarder! I had the carne asada and let me tell you the flavor was nothing like any of the taco carts in the Eugene/Springfield area! I felt like I was in L.A or S.D eating at the good carts! Ordered: Veggie burrito, yes avocado. All three salsas. Usually I forgo dairy, this time I let it slide. Juicey, rich, creamy, fresh, flavorful. The salsas are amazing, mild has a delicious tangyness to it and the hottest is just hot enough without being spicey per-se. Pretty standard americana burrito ingredients with the pico and iceberg (not a huge fan of that iceberg flavor but that's just me, and it's a fairly standard burrito ingredient).The rice and beans were yummy.
