Very disappointed to see the food they gave my elderly mother. We usually frequent this location for their carne asada burritos, but today for the first time she ordered 4 shrimp tacos, & every piece of avocado was rotten. I called the location & got hung up on. I've eaten here since the 90s. It's ALWAYS been the best Vegetarian Burrito in The SFV. They also have the best Salsa Bar with some of my favorite salsa verde and red hot sauce. In addition, they are generous with the potatoes/carrot/cauliflower blend at the Salsa Bar (it's SOOO good ). Pretty casual atmosphere, like your typical fast casual place. Ordered the carne asada plate and a can of Coke. With tip, it came out to $22. It was definitely a hearty serving. I think my only issue was that the carne asada was bland. No seasoning on the meat whatsoever and since it's cooked on the flat griddle, you don't really get a char on the meat and it just seemed a bit greasy. It just was not a pleasant eating experience. The bread stale and not sourdough, the red tomato sauce had no flavor, no limes were given and the meat they gave me was not the meat I ordered. The meat was not seasoned well and it was dry. I would give this place 0 stars if I could. DISGUSTING food quality! I had 3 tacos, chicken, asada, and pastor with the combination plate. They drown their tacos in their salsa because their chicken tasted expired on its own, the asada was bland, and the pastor had a gross paste-like texture. I don't know how they messed up the beans and rice but they did, beans were watery and the rice was dry. They had lettuce on the side with what I assume was some kind of avocado sauce, I immediately spit it out because again, watery. Did I mention that for dine-in your food is served on a styrofoam place??? My girlfriend ordered the fish tacos and left her whole plate because of how horrendous it was. Food service is NONE, calls for ZERO tip! The owner has the audacity to ask for a tip on the credit card machine before you get your food! They don't bring your food to your table, throw away your trash, or even buss the dirty tables!! All the tables were disgusting and hadn't been cleaned at all, we had to pick the least dirty table in the whole place. I would have asked for a refund but I figured writing a detailed review and warning people would be a better use of my energy. Prices are also ridiculous, $15 for low grade food quality served on a styrofoam plate! Save your money and go next door to the gyro place! read more

I have never been to this place. I have just ordered delivery. The ceviche was ok nothing spectacular. The whole fired tilapia was so good crispy and full of flavor. Other places serve it sometimes soggy and bland. It's a great place for low cost Mexican food that is authentic and has actual flavor. However it is not a fine dining or high caliber place. I wouldn't even call this place fast food but they are fast to serve your food after ordering. I love their "al pastor" tacos, my go to with rice and beans on the side. I know they have several spots in the valley but I've only been to the one on Topanga. I have tried a couple other things but the tacos are my favorite. The staff Is really nice, the restaurant itself needs a little work. Tables are usually dirty and their trash cans are always full so I usually take it to go. One of the better burritos I've had. Pinto beans are creamy, not mealy or grainy like they can get when not cooked correctly. The asada was tasty and tender. But the salsas were the real star. That red sauce had a beautiful, roasted flavor without being overpowering. The green was good with flavor, and provided a contrast to the red, but it can't compete with the red. Not good anymore! I go mainly for the tacos, but their other food options were good too, I bought tacos and a carnitas gordita and I was very disappointed. It was very sloppy with big chunks. did not taste good , maybe it's the people that are working in the kitchen. There was two younger guys that I have never seen. On the first bite of my Chile Relleno burrito, I lifted my head and watched my wife stuff her gob with the Chicken Fajitas. She spoke with her mouth full when she said "oh my God, this is so F#CKING GOOD!" I simply nodded, affirming my lovely wife's comment while dodging the pieces of chicken that were projecting from her lips. Yes, El Taco Llama is that good. I love Mexican cuisine. The explosion of flavors when matched with subtle comfort of cheese and egg are the signature of a well-heeled chef. With a menu that is as extensive as El Taco Llama's is, I look forward to exploring more of what they offer. Take my word for it - if you are a Chile Relleno lover, try the burrito. Make sure you ask for it with the works (there's a checkbox to hit). It came to me like a full diaper, impressive with its girth and artfully wrapped to retain as much heat as possible. It was impossible to eat with my hands, so I attacked it with a fork. Every bite was an experience I will not soon forget. I love everything that comes from this place. The 5 tacos plate is my usual go to if I'm really hungry because the quantity and quality is always amazing. Chips and any kind of meat were hard to find. The taquitos, slightly less disappointing as you could actually see what it was, but still the same issue, soggy, sloppy, and cold cheese.
