    This cheese dip is everything

El Tapatio in Cantonment. The epitome of a hole in the wall restaurant but great service and great food. Only open till 7:30p.m though. That cheese dip is everything! The owners are so gracious. No alcohol so super family friendly. No large room for big parties but small enough to split up and still have a good conversation. Great north end location for great mexican food.

Great food and service. Clean restaurant. It's a small restaurant but stays modestly busy. Good addition for the area.

Amazing Mexican spot in Daphne! Found them online and was intrigued by the photos and reviews, so…read morewe decided to check it out. Upon arriving we noticed the big parking lot, good location, and when we walked in we were greeted immediately. Inside was nicely decorated, dimly lit, and clean. We promptly got sat on a Sunday afternoon, and quickly got served water, got our drink orders, and food orders put in. The brunch menu is from 12-3, with mimosas and bloody Maria's. The bloody was really nice - could tell it had tequila! Old fashion was nice not overly Smokey. Onto the food, the tamales were some of the best I've had. They were HUGE. They came with birria, great consume, flavorful poblano rice, delicious poblano and corn cream (something of that nature) was so creamy and was GREAT. I couldn't believe how hot and fresh everything was. It was some of the best Mexican I've had. My husband enjoyed his chicken as well - it was tender and juicy, good char on the pineapple too. The portions were huge and we didn't eat it all. Good thing we didn't, the chef gave us complimentary dessert (ice cream because we're gluten free)! It was our first time and we'd love to go back. Everything looked and sounded great. Good margarita options, the flight was ordered by the table next to us! The overall cost for us two, although not the worst, but definitely not a cheap brunch was $110 with tip. Hot sauce was $2.50 on the side. A nice treat with friendly staff and good food, but not if you're looking to save some money.

Other subsequent customers had to wait as well. The place is very dark inside with the theme of a jungle of plastic plants hanging overhead. There appeared to be a few real plants, but it was too dark to confirm that. The food is tasty, but overpriced for what you get. We had the feeling the money is being spent on the decor or the lease on the building rather than the food. The potential is there for a better deal without the hype. It's a "been there done that " place for me.

After reviewing this place on Yelp I knew we had to give it a try! Well, we found it to be pretty…read moregood. It's very hard to find Mexican food on par with that on the West Coast. The food here, though, was good. One of the things I've noticed out here in the South and on the East Coast, complimentary chips and salsa are not always to be expected. They do, however, start you off with them here! The server was attentive and friendly and eager to provide anything that would make the meal better. The place is decorated very nicely, with lots of local artwork, and it's very clean making it a pleasure to dine in. I had Chile relleno and a pork tamal, one of the kids had a burrito and one had an enchilada, and my wife tried their fajitas. Nothing was outrageously awesome, but everything was good, especially for the area. The only food I've found that is better so far are street tacos on the other side of town. Chances are good that we'll be back when we're in the area.

Olgy's bought this restaurant. Now it's called "El Gordos by Pedro & Olgy's"…read more Says so right on the building. I Got the "First Time Review" on this restaurant. I posted my review & it said it was the "FTR" and then a few days later it disappeared & a fake account is the first review, which now yelp has changed three times. I been coming to this restaurant for years & I have been going to Olgy's for years. Now that Olgy's has bought this restaurant, we can get the same Olgy's menu items as the old location that I used to go to. I said for years Olgy's was the best Mexican in Pensacola, you can see all the photos I have posted there for the past several years. They are the only Mexican Restaurant in Pensacola that hand makes their own corn tortillias & makes Fresh "Oysters con ceviche." Now, they make them here at "El Gordos" just like they did at "Olgy's." Olgy's was my favorite Mexican Restaurant for YEARS bc they make everything from scratch including the local shrimp ceviche, which is the best I have ever had. They also make the best Fresh oysters on the half shell topped with their locally sourced shrimp in their Ceviche recipe. Oysters are my favorite food & their Oysters on the half shell with their locally sourced shrimp Ceviche is moi fave Oyster dish of all time. Sir Hubbers also. OuiOui :)... The old location of Olgy's was too small & not good for the Gringos, so no one ever went there and yelped except me. Now, that Olgy's has bought this Restaurant & has had it fully remodeled, the interior designed by a professional designer, it's completely gorgeous inside & out, with the same amazing food as Olgy's always had. That's called "a triple threat." NOW, bc of the remodel, it's in my top 3 Best Mexican Restaurants in America. So I have indeed been coming here for years, and I have been saying this is my favorite mexican food for years. And I indeed wrote the First Time Review that was taken from me. STILL, "El Gordo's" is the ONLY PLACE that makes hand made corn tortilla's, Fresh Oysters con ceviche, & fresh shrimp tacos, in a gorgeous professionally designed restaurant, with a full bar, excellent service & plenty of parking. Whoever still thinks the taco truck behind the gas station in Pensacola that serves commercially made tortillas is better, I got some beach front property in Arizona I would like to sell ya. In the meantime, you can drool over me "El Gordo's Mexican Grill" photos while I wear a hole in my favorite booth. You can take away my FTR but you can't stop me from stuffing my pie hole here daily. And EVERY DAY is taco day at El Gordos Mexican Grill. Just check out the daily specials on the board & Saturday & Sunday is "two for one" happy hour. Stuff that in your pie hole. Ole! Added to my "fave tacos lists" Moi "Fave oyster places list" Moi "Top 3 fave Mexican Restaurants in America lists." Highest Recommendations.
