I live really close to this place and never considered going until I read the great reviews on yelp. The food was great, I had the chicken tostadas and my guest had cactus and bean and cheese gorditas. Very tasty authentic, and fresh. And unlike Tex-Mex everything wasn't covered in a blanket of cheese. The chips were home made and the salsa was very good as well. The restaurant decor and atmosphere reminded me of a Mexico City flop house, but I guess that's how they can produce really good food at a very reasonable price. Don't judge a book by it's cover. The building may not be 5*s, however I have to say it's the Best Mexican food in Naples.

Prepare to be somewhat apprehensive when you pull into the parking lot. The restaurant itself is attached to a motel, and the entire structure looks pretty run down. The restaurant is also fairly small, and we honestly weren't sure if they could even seat our party of six (they did, and we were actually the second group of six in the restaurant; there were probably 25 people in the place in total). When it comes to the food, however, we thought it was really, really good. We had a decent sampling of dishes; the meat was well seasoned and, honestly, my quesadilla had some of the best tasting chicken I've ever had. Everyone else in our group had similar feelings in terms of the taste and quality of their food. We had some drinks, too, and the total price for everying was cheap at best and very reasonable as worst. The only downside is that they don't have tequila margaritas, only wine margaritas (which we didn't try). And the aforementioned warnings about the building itself, but that's should be overlooked in light of the quality of the food. read more

Coming from Nashville, I've been lucky enough to eat some truly great Mexican food. I wasn't sure what to expect from Naples Mexican food, but after reading the good reviews for El Tapatio on Yelp, we decided to give this place a try. It also didn't hurt that our favorite Mexican joint at home is also called El Tapatio, so I guess the lesson to be taken away from this is that whatever the city, if you're looking for amazing authentic Mexican food, try the place called El Tapatio! As others have mentioned, the atmosphere of this joint is pretty much non-existent (I think the restaurant actually is attached to some low-rent motel-type housing), but it hardly matters because the food is so gosh darn good. My husband and I kicked off our meal with some guac, and for $5, we got a massive bowl (you'd likely pay $10 for this kind of serving in fancier places) that was incredibly fresh and flavorful. We then followed this up with some tacos, a sope, a gordita, and a cuban sandwich. The flavors were fresh and vibrant and really wonderful; probably the only thing I was disappointed with was the chicharonne sope that I ordered as rather than having crispy crunchy pork skin, it had some flabby bits that weren't really very pleasant or tasty. Everything else was superb, including my taco de lengua (tongue!) and the cuban sandwich truly was out of this world (so creamy yet crunchy!). El Tapatio is a place where you can come and have a soul-satisfying feast for not much dinero. The food is humble but top notch, and if my husband and I could have eaten here every day we were in Naples, we would have been happy campers. Definitely one of the best meals we had while in town, so if you're craving honest and delicious Mexican food, be sure to check this place out. read more

yes this is literally a hole in the wall place..but sometimes those kinds of places have the best food chicken enchildas buried under lettuce,tomato and sour cream were very good my wifes cheese enchildas (likewise buried) were also very good my daughters taco was good as well-she actually ate more of the filling than the shell :) coke with sugar hecho in Mexico also except for the musica blasting out of the speakers..that was kinda annoying.. read more

I love this restaurant and it's authentic Mexican food. The outside can be deceiving and is very humble in appearance. From the highway you can easily pass this place and miss a golden opportunity so keep the GPS on. They are closed on Wednesdays. The first time we went there was four of us and the second time just myself and my husband. Both times we all enjoyed our meal which was flavorful, colorful, and fresh. The food is good and authentic, however the wait staff can't handle more than 4 tables, I waited 20 min for a burrito? Also, the place needs a good cleaning, it smells of mildew and must. Tiles missing on the wall for at least the 2 years i have been eating there. read more

Okay upscale Naples folk step aside. This is a great hole in the wall place to get a south Florida cuban sandwich. This place has the perfect dumpy atmosphere that I look for in a good place to eat. Outside is sketchy, even after reading all of the great reviews, when we pulled in we couldn't decide if we were going to get out of the car. It had taken us over 20 mins to get there so we decided to go in. The service was good, the Gorditas were amazing and the price can't be beat.
