They also have specialty Rita's that are a bit more pricey but the coconut Rita was tasty. For those seeking authentic Mexican cuisine, I recommend La Oaxaqueña, which offers a more traditional experience. San Julián may serve as a last resort. It is unfortunate to see a restaurant presenting itself as Mexican drifting so far from its cultural roots. Most of the patrons appeared to be Caucasian, which further emphasizes the Americanized vibe. If you are Mexican or seeking genuine Mexican food, this may not meet your expectations. We called to place a simple take-out order from the late-night happy hour menu (just chicken and beef tacos), but the person who answered the phone didn't seem to understand what we were asking. She kept saying "sorry, no," and it felt like there was a big communication gap the whole time. I don't blame her personally it really feels like a management and training issue. Staff should be properly trained on the menu and on handling phone orders, especially during specific hours like happy hour. Wow!!! The variety of tacos and the flavors of them - Loved!!! Chips they brought out and salsa were good. Cheese queso was awesome. They had a 2 for 1 special on the margaritas. Our waitress was great, and we had such a relaxing dinner. So, a couple weeks later, we decided to go again, but get our food to go. It just wasn't as great. The food was warm, but not hot, and we decided to try some other items off the menu (aka not tacos) and they were a little dissapointing. A rule of thumb of mine is to generally avoid Tex-Mex restaurants. Take me to the authentic Mexican spots where you might need to flex your high school Spanish muscle a little to be served. But Tacos and Tequila do Tex-Mex right. From bottomless chips and salsa, quality authentic and specialty tacos, and of course, tasty margaritas. If your restaurant is called Tacos and Tequila, guess what I'm there for? Answer: tacos and tequila. I believe I've tried all, if not most of their T&T Tacos but their California taco is like no other. The Firecracker and Buffalo are great choices for fans of spicy. The Elotes were so good I would've been happy with them as my entree. You can't leave this place without trying one of their margs. We've definitely have taken advantage of their happy hour or 2 for 1 margs but even if you don't make it for any of these deals they are worth it. So friendly and just always on the ball with what was coming next. Guac is really good and tasted fresh - very creamy if you like it that way. Salsa came in a pint canning jar and had an nice kick to it- not chunky which is great for the chips. Strawberry frozen margarita was smooth and almost tasted like it didn't have tequila in it. I guess that was amazing?! 5 of us (3 kids) all ordered a variety of tacos. Carne asada is a bit spicy which was great for me but a bit much for the kids. And you can order them as a salad instead of taco-ized, which is a great option and the option all 3 of us chose. They were pretty good, but could have used a little more of the taco filling (and you pay extra for the salad rendition). Our waiter Armando was very pleasant and polite. He really saved our experience here and we appreciated his efforts! The "needs work": We waited 30 minutes for a table, which is expected for a restaurant at the popular time of year. We did see some empty tables in spite of us waiting, so assume there's a staff shortage like everywhere else. Once we were seated, we were forgotten for about 20 minutes -- no water, no chips, no "hello I'll be with you shortly". We mentioned to the hostess that maybe our server wasn't aware we were there...after this prompt, our waiter was super helpful and quick. My daughter and I found this place when searching for a local taco place. What a yummy experience and fun atmosphere. The queso is so delicious and the servers are so friendly and hospitable! My daughter didn't love the kid's taco, but that's only because she doesn't like ground beef or flour tortillas for her tacos, once I gave her a normal carne asada taco, she was pleased.
