I recently noticed that this place has taken over the spot that was once Oakley Tavern. (The Tavern was doomed because of their food) from what I gathered La Tara opened 4 days ago and it's the Same as their first restaurant in Brentwood, Ca. The inside still looks like the oakley tavern. some things are not fully setup yet (new restaurant, give them a break) The all-in-one waitress, hostess, server, register personnel was very friendly and attentive. When I came in,there was only person waiting for food to-go, by the time I left, there was probably another 6-7 people sitting at tables. She seemed to handle it all well without giving off the common new staff/new restaurant chaos that can happen. I was brought a basket of chips with three different Salsas. The Pico is pretty tasty and mild, the Verde was good but seemed like it was "too fresh" almost as if it would better, "the next day" kind of thing, and then the Spicy orange one!! fire! absolutely loved it! Chips were fresh and crispy without that old oil taste People will judge a place for many reasons...but for a Taqueria, I feel a lot of those opinions are based off of their history with the cuisine and perhaps a favorite type of dish. I personally do not care if a taqueria looks all bougie or a bit run down.BUT, I do want it to be sanitary, have friendly staff, and good food. For me, I will rave or dismiss an established taqueria based off of their Carnitas first. Its such a simple dish, but yet also so easy to be made poorly IMO I ordered a Carnitas super burrito and a Bean & Cheese Pupusa. Now, back to what I just said "id rave or dismiss a taqueria based off of their Carnitas. Now,IF this place had been here a while, and this was my first visit. I honestly would give it two stars aka Meh. It wasn't bad by any means, but it didn't blow me away either. I am curious enough to try them again after they have been open a while to see how their food develops out of repetition here in this location and customer feedback. The accoutrement that typically goes with a pupusa was not bad, but seemed like it should be made a day or two ahead; so that the flavors develop and blend more. in closing, Its not only a new business but a local business. Support local, support our town and give them a try. maybe I just haven't found the one dish that is their Signature, yet. I will try again, I am content, and also thankful to have had a good experience my first visit.

The restaurant was very clean with a welcoming atmosphere. The staff was friendly and attentive. I really enjoyed the chips and salsa they served while we waited for our food. Freshly made not bad at all! ReWish they had some aguas frescas though otherwise recommend to others

We've been to Mi Mazatlan twice now and it has officially become our new go-to Mexican seafood…read morerestaurant in Brentwood! The restaurant is very clean, nicely decorated, and has a fun busy atmosphere. Great location and the staff has been very friendly every time we've visited. This visit we had the shrimp taco salad and the Mariscada Mi Mazatlan special OMG, so fresh and delicious! Served hot and loaded with crab, clams, mussels, octopus, langoustines, and shrimp. Absolutely amazing seafood. We also tried the fresh oysters, Cadillac margarita on the rocks, chips and salsa, and several other dishes our family really enjoyed. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful. Definitely recommend if you love Mexican seafood!

Came in on Saturday for an early Father's Day lunch with my wife and kids. My sons shared a steak…read moreburrito, and when it arrived, it was so hot I could barely remove it from the foil. The plate itself was scorching hot--I couldn't even pick it up. It honestly felt like the burrito had been microwaved for too long. I ordered the Chile Verde wet burrito and had a similar experience. The plate was extremely hot, the pork was very tough and seemed undercooked for a dish that should be tender, and nearly half of the meat was fat. I also found multiple bay leaves mixed into the burrito. The chips were so heavily salted that they were practically inedible. I actually had to rub some of the salt off before eating them. This was our second visit, and unfortunately, it will probably be our last. Our waitress was very friendly and provided good service, but for the prices they charge, I would rather eat at places like Tu Jalisco or La Costa in Oakley, Guadalajara Taqueria, Taqueria Salsa, or Las Fodongas in Antioch.
