Stop in to have dinner at this restaurant. Was really pleased with the food and service. The food took time to come out but it was well worth it. The food was fresh and hot. I absolutely loved my dish. I ordered the Quesabirria by far the best one I have had. It's two layers one of cheese and one of meat, and it was packed. Not a small serving at all. This spot has the best birria in town!! They never disappoint. I always order the BD tacos and they also have very good. BD quesadillas.

Staff is friendly. One person working so had to wait to give my order which took about 5 minutes. Ordered a burrito supreme and a side of beans and rice. Food is excessively salty. The portions are of good size but the sat took over the taste of the entire meal. read more

I recently noticed that this place has taken over the spot that was once Oakley Tavern. (The Tavern was doomed because of their food) from what I gathered La Tara opened 4 days ago and it's the Same as their first restaurant in Brentwood, Ca. The inside still looks like the oakley tavern. some things are not fully setup yet (new restaurant, give them a break) The all-in-one waitress, hostess, server, register personnel was very friendly and attentive. When I came in,there was only person waiting for food to-go, by the time I left, there was probably another 6-7 people sitting at tables. She seemed to handle it all well without giving off the common new staff/new restaurant chaos that can happen. I was brought a basket of chips with three different Salsas. The Pico is pretty tasty and mild, the Verde was good but seemed like it was "too fresh" almost as if it would better, "the next day" kind of thing, and then the Spicy orange one!! fire! absolutely loved it! Chips were fresh and crispy without that old oil taste People will judge a place for many reasons...but for a Taqueria, I feel a lot of those opinions are based off of their history with the cuisine and perhaps a favorite type of dish. I personally do not care if a taqueria looks all bougie or a bit run down.BUT, I do want it to be sanitary, have friendly staff, and good food. For me, I will rave or dismiss an established taqueria based off of their Carnitas first.Its such a simple dish, but yet also so easy to be made poorly IMO I ordered a Carnitas super burrito and a Bean & Cheese Pupusa.Now, back to what I just said "id rave or dismiss a taqueria based off of their Carnitas. Now,IF this place had been here a while, and this was my first visit. I honestly would give it two stars aka Meh. It wasn't bad by any means, but it didn't blow me away either. I am curious enough to try them again after they have been open a while to see how their food develops out of repetition here in this location and customer feedback. The accoutrement that typically goes with a pupusa was not bad, but seemed like it should be made a day or two ahead; so that the flavors develop and blend more. in closing, Its not only a new business but a local business. Support local, support our town and give them a try. maybe I just haven't found the one dish that is their Signature, yet. I will try again, I am content, and also thankful to have had a good experience my first visit. read more

The food was great! This is the second time I've visited at the new location. Everyone is friendly and kind. The Quesabirria tacos and the consume is bomb! Next time I'll have to try out my lengua. Hello yelpers. My name is Rick and my thing is going to Mexican restaurants in Contra Costa County and writing my opinion on the food served to me. I grade on the cleanliness, service, location and give my report to the manager. Today I ordered a Super burrito with carnitas meat. It was neatly put together so each bite had meat, beans, rice, salsa, onions and sour cream. I give 5 stars for the great taste, fresh ingredients, friendly server and super clean. The windows and all the glass were clean, floors were very clean. I recently read on Facebook the owner kept the tips and I felt I had to address the server. She assured me she gets her tips everyday after work. She showed me on the cash register how they keep track of the tips that are paid by credit card. She was able to show me her tips for the last 5 days. That made me feel better. I don't hesitate to recommend this establishment. It's in a great location of old Oakley on Main Street. This place has only been open for 1 month. Their goal is to provide good food and welcome everyone to have a great meal. I certainly loved this place and will be back. read more

We were excited to try this place but the food was terrible and they got our order wrong. We ordered takeout of 2 taco plates. It comes with only 2 tacos and the tiniest side of bland, runny beans and rice that tasted strongly of fish. The beans were also not at all in their designated spot in the container and had gotten all over the place. The rice was inedible and I even like fish but it was disgusting. My husband ordered one chicken and one asada taco and he got 2 chicken ones instead, he ordered no onions on his but they left off the onions on both orders, and they gave lemons instead of limes for the tacos. We have several great Mexican places in the area and will definitely not be coming here again. read more
