I wanted to try after I saw them on diners, drive ins, and dives I got the elote ($4.85), taco camarone (1 for $5.25), Serrano and cheese tamale (5.85), and a mulita barbacoa (10.25) I really like the elote it was delish and perfectly dressed The shrimp taco was tasty The tamale was ok, overall lacking flavor The mulita was also ok it was very greasy and needed more flavor Overall El Tesoro was good but nothing memorable The food is not very authentic in my opinion

El Tesoro is one of those consistent neighborhood eats. Their food is always fresh and good, and the staff is always helpful. There's always a line because they're so consistent. They also have my favorite breakfast burrito in the city [Frijalero Burrito + add Carne Asada for me] only on the weekends Pro tip: actually I'll keep this one for myself lol

This place really is worth the hype unfortunately lol the patio vibes with the bar- 6703 esthetics, it makes for the perfect go to spot for summer time tacos! I got a button bowl and it was really good, along with plantains and we got chips and guac for the table. Everything was amazing and brought out in a timely manner! Will be back all summer long for more pictures

Came on a weekday night and it was pretty busy - though the table turnovers were quite fast. There is street parking around the area. I got the shrimp taco, fish taco, chips and salsa and chicharron. The chicharron was not too crispy, a little soggy and not very flavorful. The chips were a lot better, as both salsas were flavorful. The red one was definitely a little spicier though both not very spicy. The tacos were packed! The shrimp was super fresh and I enjoyed the salsa on it as well. The vegetables that were on the fish taco came packed and refreshing. I also really enjoyed the mango pineapple agua Fresca as it was not too sweet. Overall a cool spot for a quick bite! The outdoor dining situation was great as well.

Great food, good location, decent prices. Plenty of things on their menu to pick from. Overall great Mexican place!

El Tesoro is an outdoor eatery serving Mexican food. It is pretty popular among people living in Atlanta, so I just had to try it out. There is only outdoor seating here, although there are umbrellas and canopies for shade. It can get crowded, especially as it is located in a neighborhood. My friend and I got the Chips and Salsa, Chorizo y Papas, Tinga de Pollo, and Carnitas Guerrero. The Chips and Salsa were the star of the show for me and filled me up quickly. I got the tacos (Chorizo y Papas and Tinga de Pollo) and added cojita cheese for extra. I thought that the tacos were okay. To be frank, I am not big on Mexican, so take my review with a grain of salt. I will say that boyfriend was a fan of the tacos when I brought the leftovers home. My friend actually got another dish but the server switched her order up so she ended up eating the Carnitas Guerrero (not her original order), and she thought she had better elsewhere. I would come back to try their breakfast items, but other than that, I fear El Tesoro was a miss for me.

Great service, good food & drinks-plenty of outdoor seating (although we got caught in a hard rain) -the outdoor covered seating was perfect(only wet feet) ... I do wish there were two cashiers as the one line was hard to wait for in the rain then running through it to get to covered seating made lunch interesting- however, the food and service was worth the excitement. It seems a bit pricey because there are not "meals" but you order items to create a meal and each item can add up quickly. You need at least 2 tacos if you're not getting a side. Highly enjoyed the black beams (mashed) and (mexican)rice and Blanco sangria.

What a great outdoor taco spot. I do mean it when I say outdoor as there is no full indoor seating. There are some tents but if it's cold or if it's rainy be prepared to wear a jacket. These tacos are top-notch. Every single one I've tried has been delicious. The cocktails are also good and they have specials as well. You seriously can't go wrong with anything that you order

So cute! I love love LOVE the outdoor seating and decor. Everyone who works here was really welcoming and accommodating. It's a little pricey for how casual it is, but I really enjoyed my tacos, especially the carnitas and the frontera taco. I would definitely come back! Extra points for having good vegetarian options. The only thing I definitely wouldn't get again or recommend was the Mexi-mocha. It was supposed to be a mexican chocolate spin on a mocha, but it was so bitter and all the chocolate kept settling back on the bottom after I mixed it. Overall I'd definitely come back here though, this place really is a gem

Super cool place with tasty food and cocktails! Fun and relaxed outside seating - you walk up and order from the counter and they bring your food out to you. You go back up for your own drinks and anything else you might want. I love the vibe here and the food was great. We just hung and got the dips and chips - 2 salsas that were yummy, queso and guacamole. Delicious and I loved the chips. Steak asada burro is delish! Can't wait to go back and try more stuff!

Thoroughly enjoyed El Tesoro to start off my new year. This place has evolved over the years per my companion and counter staff. We had ample covered places to sit under a tent with sides or near fire pits fully outside. Menus were posted at entrance, counter and several other places. Food options included appetizers, tacos, burritos, mulitas, tamales and desserts among other items. I went with the cover picture from this listing - tostones with guacamole and a shrimp taco. My companion had a customized mushroom - minus corn with added avocado. Everything was good, especially the seasoning in the guacamole which would have been a great addition to the mushroom burrito instead of sliced avocado. The blue corn wrap on the taco was a great addition to the marinated shrimp. Overall, I enjoyed my first visit and will return again. Good food, good service and unique decor of Mexican flags, Lucha libre wrestling pics, and full bar with Mexican beers and non-alcoholic beverages.

Dear El Tesoro, Where have you been all my life and will you marry me? I've had this lovely place on my list for quite some time and I finally stopped in with a friend today to see what all the hype was about. I get it. You walk up, order at the register, take a number back to your seat, and they bring the food and drinks to your table. There are two registers which I'm sure is extremely helpful when it's busy. Don't be fooled by the exterior, there's plenty of seating. It's kind of like a Tardis, bigger on the inside. I'm sure parking can be tricky during busy hours. My friend had a steak taco, which she said was the "best steak taco I've ever had" and a really good Bloody Maria. We shared some fresh guac and chips that had just the right amount of salt. I really enjoyed the lentil soup with roasted corn (vegan) and a house margarita. I'm looking forward to my next visit.

Awesome food, friendly staff, and a rustic, roadside taqueria vibe. El Tesoro is a literal treasure. Surprisingly, we used ChatGPT to find this place. I typed, "What are the most authentic Mexican restaurants in Atlanta, Georgia?" The first choice was El Tesoro. I am 55 years old, and the asada shirt steak "burro" was one of the best ones I have ever had. It's not a burrito for a reason. It is huge. It's not just a novelty-sized burrito with a bunch of half-ass ingredients. I was well-prepared, fresh, and damn good. My wife really liked their margaritas, and I thought the aguas frescas were superior. Short and sweet review for a great place to eat authentic Mexican food.

Ask the Community - El Tesoro

What happened to the side patio?

It was shut down due to a zoning issue. Try El Tesoro at Lee and White, though. The service is terrible, since you have to wait in a huge line with zero possibility of a second drink, but other than that the food isn't as good either.

Do you have a liquor license?

    Yes.

Are you planning to offer a platform to order takeout - either on your website (technical) or using one of the food apps (yelp, DoorDash, etc.)?…

You can place a pickup order through their website.
