Food was good. I had the street corn w/ guac & the chips. A chicken bowl & it was good per usual Had three tacos & tried the waffle & it was amazing!! I even had a margarita swirl Service was normal nothing to scream about. Had to revisit for the year! Will definitely be back!

Yesterday while in the area, I stopped by Velvet Taco. It had been a minute so I was shocked and excited about the combo. Of course, I jumped on it - 2 tacos, 1 side and a drink for $15! It's a steak. My food was delicious and I feel like the taco shells got bigger. Now I will say, I was a little sad they sold out WTF catfish, but that just means it was good. Nice and speedy service. Great environment!

Wow this was a hidden gem ! Some of my friends suggested this. .. Google maps takes you to a parking within the building which is about 7$ I think '.. we tried to go around looking for parking outside and a block away but nothing was available . Parking is the major headache with this restaurant. Service was awesome . Quick billing and very quick service .. loved the ambience inside and outside too. So many tables inside and outside to sit and eat . We chose a table outside . Was a bit noisy but was good . They also serve beers and it was good . Food is just super awesome here . I like the concept of single servings and also a like a lunch box with a combo offer . Price wise it was really not that expensive . We got a mix and match of tacos and mostly all were good . Beer battered cauliflower . Nashville hot tofu , fried paneer - all 3 were awesome but my personal fav was Nashville hot tofu .. their sauces are also good . Wanted to give. A 4 star but this place deserves a 5 star - value for money and food taste !

My first time trying it, and I will be back!! Everything tasted so fresh and intentionally-made. The margarita (which was only $5) had a great flavor, even though it was pre-mixed! Very busy atmosphere due to the popular location, but great/fast service nevertheless.

Visiting Atlanta and my friend suggested this place.... the food was insanely tasty!!!!! Easy to order at the walk up counter. Food came out fast and it was so good. The music and vibes were great. Would love to come back when I'm in town again.

Tried velvet tacos and the tortillas were super soft and fulfilling. It is a nice grab and go spot for lunch. The chicken taco was made with a chicken tender, and I realized I'm more of a shredded chicken person. Just my preference, but worth mentioning. The place has both indoor and outdoor seating, which made it easy to settle in and enjoy. Overall, a really solid taco stop. It was busy during lunch but the service was good despite how busy it was.

We decided to stop here after a night of bar hopping and it did not disappoint. There was a line, but it went pretty fast. The place was a decent size. We got a large brisket nachos and a steak taco. Both were delicious.

Came here for taco Tuesdays with my fiancé. Ordering was relatively simple. We had their house margaritas and their fish tacos. Once we received our order, we sat outside on the patio to enjoy our meal. The tacos were decent but there was nothing major about the experience that would cause me to visit this location in the future. It felt like a fast food taco place.

Came to this super comfy and cozy taco spot on a recommendation from a friend. Service was professional and quick. I had tacos - beer battered cauliflower (5/5), fried paneer (5/5), Nashville hot tofu (5/5). Guava jaricos (4/5) was also very refreshing! Definitely coming back here again to try other items!

Velvet Taco scores a win for us! My friend, my husband, & I enjoyed the fabulously fresh tacos, cold/adult beverages, & simple atmosphere! The employees are quick to greet you with smiles & get the food prepared! Hint: There is a putt putt spot near!

Short version: We had a really enjoyable meal at this Velvet Taco location at the Interlock in West Midtown. The food was delicious and the staff was nice, though they forgot something that came with our order. We're fans of this place. Long version: Velvet Taco is a national chain of American taco / Tex-Mex fast-casual restaurants. It opened its first location in Dallas, Texas in 2011. There are currently three metro Atlanta locations: (1) the original in Buckhead, which opened on September 9, 2019, (2) this one at the Interlock, which opened on June 14, 2021, and (3) an OTP (suburb) location in Dunwoody, which opened on July 1, 2024. In addition to this location, I've been to the Buckhead location. In general, my experiences at both locations were good in terms of food, service, and atmosphere. The environments are casual and fun and this location in particular had a great music playlist. The parking situation at this location isn't great because the attached Interlock garage is expensive and Velvet Taco does not validate. Cheaper parking alternatives include Westside Provisions District across the street and nearby street parking. On April 19, 2025, parking costs were as follows: * Attached Interlock garage: Free for 30 minutes then you're forced to choose a minimum of 2 hours at $15.45; $18.45 for 3 hours, $21.45 for 4 hours (ParkMobile Zone 3232) * Westside Provisions garage across the street (1100 Howell Mill Rd): Starts at $4.50 for 0-2 hours and $6.50 for 2-4 hours (LAZ Parking, gated) * Westside Provisions surface lot across the street (1198 Howell Mill Rd): Starts at $5.10 for 2 hours and $7.10 for 4 hours (ParkMobile Zone 225) * Brady Ave NW street parking: Starts at $2.35 for 1 hour, $4.35 for 2 hours, $6.35 for 3 hours (Parking.com Zone 51701) It's odd that restaurants at the Interlock, such as Velvet Taco and Kinjo Room, do not validate parking, but restaurants at Interlock Tower, like Kura Revolving Sushi Bar and Wagyu House, do. What up with that? Here's what my wife and I had at this Velvet Taco: Boozy Libations: * Kick Ass Margarita on the Rocks ("Regular kick ass," $9.00) * Sangrita Swirl ("Regular kick ass," $9.00) Note: The large sizes are referred to as "Large bad ass." Pork Tacos: * #9 Quesa Birria Duo ($6.25) - slow-roasted pulled pork, Gruyere cheese, queso listo, pickled red onion, cilantro, griddled corn tortillas, birria consome for dipping - the staff forgot to give us the consome * #8 Korean Fried Rice ($5.50) - slow-roasted pulled pork, gochujang, egg fried rice, red chile aioli, pickled red onion, jalapenos, grilled pineapple, cilantro, flour tortilla Chick Tacos: * #3 Spicy Tikka Chicken ($5.50) - crisp tenders, spicy tikka sauce, buttered cilantro basmati rice, raita crema, Thai basil, flour tortilla Beef Tacos: * #12 Slow-roasted Angus Brisket ($6.25) - barbacoa style, red chile aioli, avocado, roasted corn pico, queso blanco, micro cilantro, comte cheese-encrusted flour tortilla * #11.5 Chimichurri Steak ($6.25) - grilled steak, buttered cilantro basmati rice, chimichurri, avocado, pickled fresnos, queso fresco, cilantro, flour tortilla Sea Tacos: * #17 Mexi-Cali Shrimp ($5.95) - blackened shrimp, napa slaw, Sriracha aioli, avocado, roasted corn pico, micro cilantro, flour tortilla * #16 Fish 'n Chips ($6.25) - beer-battered cod, curry aioli, French fries, malt vinegar, napa slaw, flour tortilla Veg Tacos: * #5 Fried Paneer ($5.25) - tomato chutney, tikka sauce, raita crema, Thai basil, flour tortilla Sides: * Queso Blanco ($5.95) - chimichurri, Velvet Taco heat sauce, cilantro, blue corn chips * Elote Guac ($6.50) - classic guac, roasted corn, queso listo, Valentina, citrus lime crema, queso fresco, lime, blue corn chips The tacos were creative, tasty, and filling. I was surprised at how good the Spicy Tikka Chicken taco tasted, with tender meat and pretty true Indian flavors. Same goes for the Fried Paneer. The taco recipes here work. The only taco I wouldn't order again is the Slow-roasted Angus Brisket. It was just a bit too rich and dense for me. Also, I don't think we got the cheese-encrusted tortilla that is supposed to come with it and, as mentioned above, they forgot to give us the consome with the Quesa Birria Duo -- those tacos aren't complete without it. Overall, the taco ingredients were fresh and well proportioned, and they did a nice job with the presentation. The dips with blue corn chips were fantastic as well and I recommend them. The drinks were strong and satisfying. Try the hot sauces. Aside from the missing consome, service was good. Everything came out in reasonable time. Interior notes: Single restroom each for men and ladies. The men's room was reasonably clean, but the overhead vent was clogged in dust and badly in need of cleaning. The "Sea Tacos" menu board had fallen off the wall and was partially covered. The light fixture above it was out. The glass door facing 14th Street was dirty. Otherwise, the interior was fine.

Velvet taco never disappoints! We went to one in Texas so we were so excited to see one in ATL! There were 12 of us(4 kids/8 adults) and they got every single meal items correct! And it came out super fast for how busy they were! Flavors are on point and delicious! I love the rotisserie chicken taco and spicy tikka taco! My husband got the paneer taco and fish n chips! Both came with a side of chips and our choice of dip so we choose the 2 different queso's which were divine! $14.99 for 2 tacos and a side can't be beat! For how busy they were-the shop was clean and well maintained! Thank you velvet taco!!!

5 stars for the food, vibe & drinks. Came on Cinco de Mayo. First time ever eating here. Ordering was super easy. The food came out quickly. Ordered two Smash Burger tacos and one Shrimp taco. Both were AMAZING!!! The shrimp had lots of sauce, filling and flavor. Really good. The Smash Burger is a restaurant favorite and it lived up to the hype. The frozen margarita was perfect!! You can sit in the restaurant, outside, or even take your food to the establishment/ bar next door. Highly recommend!!!

They have quickly become my favorite place to get Mexican food. Let's get into it! Location and Parking They are located on Buford Highway in a small shopping plaza. The lot is medium sized, but they are sharing it with a few other businesses, and depending on the night it could definitely be hard to find a spot so keep that in mind. Venue and Atmosphere The venue is decently sized with both booths and regular tables. There are beautiful paintings hung all over, and the decorations that make you feel like you've stepped into a little part of Mexico. Atmosphere is super casual and comfortable. Food and drinks Now the menu here is massive. Take your time and prepare to be overwhelmed, because everything sounds amazing. Here's a breakdown of what we got each time. 1st visit - El Rey Del Taco Parrillada It's meant to be shared with two people, and comes with a pound of beef ribs, your choice of chicken or al pastor meat, six shrimp wrapped in bacon, with melted cheese and chorizo, plus tortillas and charro beans. It was just as delicious as it sounds. 2nd visit - Tacos The pastor con queso and the shrimp al pastor with cheese, onions, and al pastor sauce. You're welcome. 3rd visit - Fajitas Fajitas Texanas, with steak chicken and shrimp. There are 7 different combinations of sides that you can get. We got white rice, salad, and charro beans. This can also be shared, which my wife and I did. Speaking of the charro beans, they have the best beans I have ever had. For drinks I got the supreme regular mango margarita. My wife got strawberry. Both great. Service Food came out fast, but other than that the service was a little slow. Our waitress was nice, but it did seem that she forgot about us for a little while. The food was so good that I forgave it, plus at the end of the day I got everything I needed. Verdict If you're looking for amazing food and drinks, this is absolutely the place to get it. It just might end up being your favorite too! Until next time!

It was a little pricey at $14 for 3 small-ish tacos, but each taco was packed with meat. I also got a taco de la abuela with pastor meat. I didn't try a normal taco, so not sure if there's a notable difference in the tortilla, but I thought the pastor taco was solid as well. I felt like perhaps it was lacking a little in flavor? But I do appreciate the amount of meat that's given. The slices of pineapple are nice as well - very authentic. Throughout my dining experience, most customers were picking up/taking orders to go. The restaurant is kept clean and there's a serve yourself salsa bar. I'm glad that I've found a good taco spot nearby! We waited only a few minutes and was able to navigate the small lot to get a spot. There is a designated window for pre-orders and walk-ups have a separate line. It wasn't that long when we were there, but was out the door when we left. Ordering was easy as we got a chance to preview the paper menu, and we were given a card to place on our table once we found it. There was plenty of seating options despite the full lot, but it was nice out so a lot of people were out on the patio with views of the busy intersection. The decor was modern and airy. We checked out the salsa bar while we waited for our appetizer and I found the jalapeno roasted garlic, which was spicy and amazing!! Our appetizer was the con queso and I added chorizo, which I highly recommend. It was plenty for our party of 4 and they'll give you more chips if you need them for the amount of dip you get, just ask. I got one each of the steak, chicken, and carnitas tacos on corn tortillas. The steak was my favorite and I loved that you could taste the smoke in each of the meats with each bite. The grapefruit marg was strong! We were in and out in well under an hour.

Halal tacos in a small store in a gas station - how can you get more authentic than that?…read more The meats served here are all halal, which is great! I got the beef Birria, steak Birria, and barbacoa tacos. The consommé itself was a little watery and tomato-y, but the tacos themselves were of decent quality and flavor. The beef Birria was better IMO than the steak, which was a little chewier. The barbacoa was definitely hands down my favorite - out of them it was the most flavorful and tender. The salsas they gave on the side were good too - spicy, tangy. The seating in the store is very limited (only a few tables, not well spaced out), large groups would be hard to accommodate.

I believe the meats here are halal. The crust of both the taco and quesadilla were crispy and had a nice cheese crunch. But trying other birria spots, these were okay. Good but nothing that would wow. The consome dip was actually pretty watered down. I know places make them differently as I've had versions with meat bits in them and another with rice. But their version was just watered down. The shrimp ratio was pretty sad. The beef is actually more bang for your buck. Though I didn't truly count the shrimps, there were about 3 or 4 of those baby shrimps. They didn't look nor tasted like they were doused in flavor. The shrimp was just so so. Sort of bland in taste imo. The beef had a nice kick of flavor. There was a good amount of beef to my surprise. Another friend's beef taco version looked like it was stuffed with meat as well. There was just ample seasoning and flavor with the beef. Psst. If you're thinking x3 tacos vs x1 whole quesadilla, go with the quesadilla. You're sort of getting another piece since the quesadilla is cut into four quadrants versus just 3 tacos. Though it's a different form on presentation, you're going to be getting more for the same exact price.
