I really wanted to love this place, and even decided after being there I'd give them another chance before reviewing them. So let me start with the good. Don't know what kinda scam the blonde lady is pulling, but the last 3 times I've gone she said my debit card wasn't going through. She asked me to pay with cash or PayPal I'm sorry I don't carry around $80 of cash on me ever and I don't have PayPal because I don't need to. Most people have regular bank accounts with regular debit cards. This time I put my foot down I told her I don't have cash for her I'm not going to go get cash for her so she needs to figure it out and mysteriously my card started working. Ordered 3 tamales to go last night (Thursday). The pork was spoiled. I took it back the next night after work and even though the waitress remembered me and agreed that the pork was spoiled refused to reimburse me without a receipt. Garbage pickup is Friday morning and the receipt was thrown away. When the cook was shown the order he walked by and glared at me... no apology... never eat there.. the pork smelled horrible and there is no way the cook didn't notice. I was quite pleased with this as takeout last night (via Grubhub)! I got a bean tostada and cheese enchilada combo (rice, refried beans l, sour cream, lettuce) and some chips and salsa. While the chips were fresh and salty the salsa lacked some flavor but not too bad. The bean tostada was crispy and tasty. The cheese enchilada was filled with cheese but not in an overwhelming sense. The refried beans were pretty delicious. I tend to judge Mexican spots on their beans, and these are up there (and they were topped with shredded cheese). Came here for the first time on a Wednesday, for lunch. There was no wait, plenty of parking, and we picked our seat right away (seat yourself). The free chips and salsa arrived quickly with drinks, and the salsa was very good! We ordered the carne asada taco plate and the carnitas plate. Both were VERY good, with really big portions! This place is a gem. We will be back. Yum! I only give 4 stars for a slight lack in service, and the temperature of some of the food wasn't hot enough. read more

So today I went to Santiago's to pick up some breakfast burritos, unfortunately they were closed temporarily due to a small kitchen fire. El Torito was close by so I thought I would give there breakfast burritos a try. $52.00 dollars for 7 breakfast burritos, can you believe that? They better be out of this world for that price. I won't be coming here for breakfast that's for sure, what a rip off. There only getting 1 star until I try them. Quick update, just had their breakfast burritos, definitely not worth the price. I was trying to find a Mexican restaurant open later than 9pm. That seems to be when the sidewalks get rolled up in this overpriced cowtown. Thankfully there's El Torito on Leetsdale in Glendale, open til 10:30 pm. I ordered the Chorizo Con Queso as an appetizer, thinking I'd get a bowl of queso dip with chorizo. But it was much more. Imagine a sizzling fajita platter loaded with chorizo, grilled onions and peppers along with melting cheese and tortillas which to fill with the gooey deliciousness That alone was enough for an entree, but since it's billed as an appetizer, I had ordered a smothered bean burrito and a taco as my entree. Now here's why I'm taking the time to write this review. I believe that I should qualify as at least a small part Mexican because of all the Mexican food I have eaten over the last few decades As such, I can say The beans are flavorful and the taco meat is great. The green chile is delicious. I told my server that their food is better than Las Delicias. To me Las D's delicious but I'm not a big fan of their beans and taco meat. For some reason those items always turn me off at Las D. I will make another visit soon and look forward to trying more of their delicious food read more

This place was good! The chips were thin and crispy and they give you free salsa and queso dip. The service was good and quick. The cadillac margaritas were strong and not skimpy. Both my husband and I enjoyed our food (Quesadilla and Lengua Tacos). We ended up going there twice and will certainly go again next time we are in the area. read more

Downhill. I remember coming to this place years ago and everything being authentic and delicious with great service. ALL of that has changed. Don't know if it's new ownership or what. 1) The margaritas were straight mix and WAY too sweet. 2) The food quality is a few notches above Casa Bonita. The nachos were inedible. Canned beef. Slimy guacamole. No love in these dishes. 3) The service was extremely slow and very in inefficient. The server's were nice - I will say that. But it took forever. And of the 6 people in our party 3 of them got their food 5 minutes+ before the rest of us did. Very sad because this place used to be good. But this will be the last time I visit. However... if they're changing formats to be a Karaoke bar with taco-bell quality eats, they're right on track. read more

If you know what authentic Mexican food is and love authentic Mexican food over the typical torchys tacos or other sometimes good but not real, chain Mexican food in Colorado then you will love El Torito. I've lived in Fort Collins for 2 and a half years now and this is the best Mexican food, by far! A plus is that they are reasonably priced (which is typical for authentic Mexican food). We came here looking for El Coyotito No. 3 and got Torito #3 instead. Once we were seated we felt bad leaving once we realized it wasn't the same place. So we gave it a shot... I kind of wish we had left. The place was very clean, but that's where the good ended. The salsa was not really salsa... it took us a few tries to figure it out, but it was enchilada sauce mixed with a little salsa. No bueno. The bf got tacos that he said were "meh", I tasted them and they were just very bland. We also asked for a side of cilantro and got a ton of onions with a sprinkle of cilantro. Do people not have cilantro separately at most places? And why not? Some people just want cilantro. Anyways, I got a chimichanga with rice & beans. It was ok, better than the tacos. Not so much with the rice though. It was kind of crunchy. The servers were nice, but probably not coming back any time soon. read more

I had a great experience at this restaurant tonight on a friend's recommendation. The chips were good, delicious salsa that had enough heat but didn't burn one's tastebuds off. The guacamole salad was fresh, perfectly seasoned and also delicious. I was craving chile verde, and I was not disappointed! I had a pastor smothered burrito, and I was very happy and satisfied. My friend ordered the chicken enchiladas and she raves about them as well. Each plate was garnished with a milder roasted chili which complemented my meal very nicely. The service was prompt and friendly, and our server kept our glasses full and replenished our chip baskets a few times during our meal. The restaurant itself was very clean, everyone friendly, and they didn't pressure us to leave as my friend and I sat and gabbed, they continued to top off our beverages. I walked in to see the waitstaff sitting at a booth and yells sit any where you want. I grabbed my own menu and sat down waiting for chips and salsa. The waitstaff walked over to my table texting on her phone. I asked if she had any specials for that day and pointed to the menu. I said the whole menu is your special of the day? She said yes pick what you want. I ordered a 16.00 shrimp cocktail and 2 tacos. The chicken tasted like tuna and the shrimp was chewy. I never got my chips and salsa I asked for them and she said it's extra charge. I also ordered a margarita which was extremely watered down. I watched her pour my drink from a dirty looking plastic 20 gallon Tupperware container. Such a shit show. The male staff and female staff couldn't stop flirting with each other to come to my table with my check. I had to walk over and interrupt their conversation to get my check. This place use to be called El Coyote- and MAN, was THAT place good. Everything was authentic, fresh and so delicious. NOT anymore. We went for lunch at 12:00pm on a Thursday. At 12:45 our food still wasn't out, so we asked to have it boxed. They did (and didn't charge us- so that was at least nice.) Got back to the office to eat it (so much for the lunch date) and it was actually really, really disappointing. Cheez wiz instead of queso. SO greasy. Mushy. And my friends said she couldnt' even eat hers because it was so greasy and gross. So... I miss El Coyote. They knew how to cook Mexican food. read more

Yes the salsa might not be good, but really are you going to judge a restaurant just for the chips/salsa they served?? I had a combination of Carne Asada and Shrimp Tacos.. I like it a lot. Whenever I am feeling Mexican food, I tend to try hole in the wall places. They usually have the best food. I was right about El Torito. The place was pretty dead for lunch on a week day. I figured more business people would have been there. I was seated in a very large booth by myself that looks at the whole restaurant. Since I had the room, I spread out. The ships and salsa were awesome. The chips were very salty, just the way I like them. The salsa, slightly spicy and thick chunks. I ordered a combination plate with a ground beef taco, chicken enchilada, beans and rice. The taco was good, but nothing too special. The chicken enchilada was smothered in green chile sauce and spiced perfectly. Great enchiladas!! The service was quick and friendly. Best part of it all, lunch with an iced tea was only $8. I go to Wendy's and pay more than that for lunch. Check out this tiny place. They have happy hour from 6-8 with two for one drinks! read more

Formerly El Coyotito No. 3. which had good reviews (but I had never been myself). Torito was pretty run of the mill mexican. Nothing was of especially good quality here, and certainly did not scream of freshness. A dead giveaway was the salsa - people had complained about the chips at Coyotito, but the salsa at the now Torito was nothing less than awful - stale low grade mexican ketchup from a giant bottle I'm guessing. I'd caution anyone to call into serious question the passion of any mexican establishment that doesn't make their own fresh salsa. read more

I was not impressed with this place AT ALL. I am from out of state and just moved to the area. Wanted to get a margarita and tacos and decided on el doritos, to be very disappointed. The food was average but what really upset me was the $6.00 margarita that was not only small but had ZERO alcohol in it. I really overpaid for a slushie that I wouldn't have wanted otherwise. Your supposed to be seated but as there was no one to seat us, we ended up seating ourselves. The female "waitress" was horrible. She walked by repeated without checking on us. The guy who wasn't our waiter seemed better. Our waitress did not write our order down but instead came back 3 times to verify our order and still got it wrong. Never got drink refills. Took almost 30 minutes for a ham and cheese omelet, and 2 fajitas plates. She then proceeded to argue with us about what we ordered. One fajita plate had shrimp. It was cooked in shell which means had to peel before eating, defeating the purpose of the fajita. She never came back to check on us. The guy would ask when ever he happened to walk by.
