I'm sad that I have adventured all around this restaurant for at least 12 years and only now, this 26th cycle of the 21st century, made my way into its doors. I'm always searching for a place that offers breakfast burritos, green chili, and a broader meat option for breakfast. After my dual personalities finished their wrestling match over choosing the food available to prepare at home (btw Da Big Spenda won the match), I made my way to Tacos La Morenita. I walked into a dimly lit, clean, organized place with futbol on the tv, music playing, and staff gathered near the bar. I was greeted immediately and requested a menu since I couldn't quickly locate what I was looking for on the LED-lit menu on the wall above the register. On the menu, I saw the breakfast burrito allowed for non-traditional meat to be added to include chicken which always brightens my heart to see (Ms. Piggy shouldn't still dominate breakfast foods & we don't all consume beef regularly). I decided to order a breakfast burrito with asada beef (my arteries were craving excitement), green chili inside. The wait was around five minutes for a freshly prepared burrito with a side of salsa verde. When I returned home, I opened the burrito and took my first delicious bite. :O:O ... How delightful! The inside was nicely gooey with the green chili and cheese inside. The eggs were fresh and hot. The asada was chopped more finely than I'm used to in a breakfast burrito which was pleasantly surprising as they meshed very well with the shredded potatoes which are my Favorite style of potatoes in a breakfast burrito. Then...the Salsa Verde... Everyone around here does their version of this salsa. I'm rarely satisfied with it. Many are just a very liquid, not very flavorful, small to mid 'pica' in my existence. I was expecting the same here. I noted the difference in appearance and texture right away when opening the container. Yes, it's green. Yes, it's salsa but it had more substance than most I've encountered around Denver metro. More similar to restaurant style. The seeds were also more plentiful as if it was a freshly made batch. I drizzled a bit on a corner of the burrito and took a bite. :O:O:O...The dance of flavor on my tongue made my booty wiggle. This salsa is seriously a standout. It is milder but what it lacks in spice it makes up for in flavor. I mean, I would be interested in purchasing jars of this salsa just like I do from Yolanda's Tacos. As I stated, I'm sad I've waited so long, passing this place time and again, without trying it all these years. This has been here for so long but I only made it in just recently and it didn't disappoint. We came in to place a to-go order and while waiting for our food, we learned more about the history of how it started as a hole in the wall and then it expanded by taking over the bar next door. Very sweet owner. If you're ever here and have the time, stop by and chat with him. It's a fascinating story and something I love about mom and pop shops. The food is pretty good. One of the tacos that we got was kinda dry but the flavor was there and nothing a little salsa couldn't save (especially the green salsa - it's so good). We stopped in after an afternoon in the sun at a beer fest and had basically been dreaming about food all day--so it's safe to say we were starving. One thing that surprised us right away was that they don't offer complimentary chips and salsa, which is pretty standard at most spots around the Denver metro. We ordered some anyway and were caught off guard when it was about $12 for bagged, fairly mediocre chips and a pretty bland salsa. I'm landing at three stars because the burrito itself had potential. The green chili and overall flavor were actually really good--but the chicken inside was unseasoned, boiled, and very dry, which unfortunately took away from the whole dish. I ended up picking most of it out. This could definitely be a solid spot, and maybe it was just an off day, but the dry, bland chicken made what could've been a great burrito pretty disappointing. Please don't waste your money. The worst Mexican food I've ever had. I ordered chicken and beef enchiladas and chicken fajitas. I love that 10 years later I am updating my review and still feel the same way about this place. They have definitely expanded their menu over the years and now it offers plenty of restaurant seating and a full bar. Nothing like it used to be except still cheap! Last night Brian got the 2 tamale dinner with beans and rice, I couldn't decide so I got a tamale, a street taco and a queso birria taco with consume and each got unlimited refill sodas and it was like $30. This was my second time here. Here's what we ordered: Coffee -weak but loved my mug Horchata-powdered and grainy Chilaquiles- sauce really red. Not a ton of flavor. They used shredded white cheese rather than Cotija. No onions or cilantro on the chilaquiles which was really needed for some level of flavor. Very bland dish. I didn't get eggs, but that still shouldn't have made the dish flavorless. I don't expect to need eggs for a good chilaquiles plate. The beans and rice were good but nothing to rant or rave about. Green Chile cheese tamale- was good. Very decent portion size. Not the best I've ever had but a regular decent tamale. I am still looking for that amazing burrito ( like my hometown San Fran Mission burrito) but Tacos La Morenita is as close as I can find so far. Their Al Pastor burrito was very good. Great blend of meat, rice and cheese in a grilled tortilla. Sure there was a pretty steep upcharge for the meat ...but that is what it is. Good Guacamole...perhaps the best I have had in a long time. Creamy, mixed with salsa crudo and jalapenos. Really flavorful. Great chips. Not your typical flat kind but more puffy and texturally really good Insanely good hot sauce that reminded me of a complex Mole...Just get it! I would definitely come back. A lovely little taco shop located in an unsuspecting strip mall. When you step inside, you're greeted with friendly staff and a cute atmosphere. The restaurant has a small bar and a vast drink menu that surprised me because most taco spots don't have that. Their speciality are birria tacos and they weren't disappointing. The meat was pretty tender and flavorful, but I would have liked more flavor in the consome. I also tried their steak taco which was decent but not the best I have tried. I started ordering breakfast burritos from here about a month ago, and have been so pleased with them! They are not huge, but just the right size. I pay $1 extra for extra cheese and that makes it so much better! They are always very friendly, and everything I have ordered has been so great! Let's get down to business ...this is the best taco spot in southeast Aurora ! The menu is extensive. The meats from Asada , carnitas , adobada to fish and chorizo is all authentic Mexican food . They have a bar now and just feels like a great taco spot you would find in LA . The staff is great . The owner recently transferred the business to the nephew so it's still in the family and he's done a great job keeping up with place and food . A long time coming review for sure! This is my go to, comfort food from my favorite hole in the wall spot! The ladies that work the counter & kitchen are so friendly and efficient. They always greet you with a warm, welcoming smile. And while I love the pleasant service, I do come here for the food! On this day I opted for the birria tacos and they were so delicious. It's funny because I was actually suggested to try this yesterday after trying another Mexican spot close by and not enjoying my meal. The standout for me was the tortillas... they definitely appeared to be homemade. We had steak and chicken options with all the typical toppings. I really liked both their red (nice heat) and green sauce options. Though the meat was a tad dry (I'm sure it was because it was catered) overall it was a solid lunch. Disappointed with the food I ordered. Based on the overall Yelp rating, thought I'd give them a try. Note: Their prices have increased from what's listed on Yelp and their website. They even charged about $2 ($1.95) for a very small side of green sauce, I was shocked to see that when he rung me up! That's the first restaurant I've seen do that. I called in my order in advance for pick up during lunch with my kids. Food was ready when I showed up as stated (20 mins later). We did not enjoy any items: Sausage breakfast burrito - average, nothing special but potatoes didn't taste fully cooked/ warm. Carnitas breakfast burrito - hardly any carnitas meat. Mostly filled with potatoes and egg. Potatoes didn't taste cooked as well. Birria tacos - $14 for 4 dry tacos and very small broth. Not worth it. Meat were dry and no cheese! No flavor. Asada chili cheese fries - $10 for a small to-go box! I was expecting a full size to-go box especially for that price and that's normally the portion size from other restaurants. The potatoes/ fries were cold and the asada meat were burnt and dried. They definitely threw the leftover unwanted meat over the fries. Everything tasted bland. The 4 items totaled $40. Not worth it. First time we dined in and the food was amazing. We had fajitas and a burrito. We knew we would be back. The second time we did a take out and ordered fajitas (again) and chicken enchiladas. This time there was nothing special, just what you would expect in any Colorado restaurant of the sort. I'm too of that they only gave us one burrito shell for the fajitas. Different cook? Who knows. I was looking for good Menudo and I found it. It had everything I was looking for and more. The service was amazing, and the owner came over and spoke with me and had a very warm smile, and gave me a tip on my Spanish, which she let me practice on her. The restaurant was very clean and I noticed quality sanitation procedures in place. I will be coming back and I hope you give it a try also. My new favorite place. read more

Let see where did I begin, when we talked in there was no one there. We ordered 3 tacos and a breakfast burrito. We waited forever for our food. They seemed to be ran by newbies. We had to go check to make they didn't forgot about us. The kitchen seemed fluttered, no type of communication. The guy was rude and seemed clueless. Asked if we wanted our money back, um no we are hungry and waited this long. Tons of family standing around in the kitchen area looking clueless. A guy with an Afro with no hair net on in the back kitchen area. 35 mins later and we finally got our food. YAY!! And then the food was mediocre, like really!! Note to worker when customer is placing order: let us know the wait time of the food since you guys take so much online orders and it backs up the kitchen. I under everything is fresh but really we had 3 tiny steak tacos and a breakfast burrito. It shouldn't have taken that long. I could have decided not to wait and this all could of been avoided. My family and I have been regulars since they opened and we still enjoy the amazing food! They have now updated the interior with a full service bar and more seating area. I enjoy coming here because of how sweet the family is and how authentic the food is! I typically stick to my regular order (asada tacos) but I have tried almost every single item on the menu throughout the years and they're all a hit! The prices on the tacos have gone up significantly and the tacos shrunk!!! You can see my pictures for comparison. The meat has no flavor. What a waste of money. While it may not be the "hole-in-the-wall" you're looking for, the food is authentic and the meal time rush backs up the quality. I'm not sure if this qualifies for authentic Mexican street food, but it's levels above all of those Mexican food places that get you to forget how bad the food is with cheap margaritas. My favorite to order are the lengua, tripas, and carnitas. Take your pick in a taco, burrito or torta and all that really changes are quantity, cost, and delivery method. If I could change one thing, it would be a larger cup for the agua de horchata. Too small! It's not even enough for one person, really. Saturday January 10th 2015, we went here for Dinner. Time was about 18:30hrs ish. There are like 2 other families, dining in that evening. Ahh... Now I remember... This establishment was once a Middle Eastern mom and pop shop aka (Tasty Kabob), which NO LONGER Exists, aka CLOSED which made me a little sad.. So now Tacos La Morenita, got hold of the space lease. With the Simple Menu, they offer, we opt for the following items : * Asada (Beef) Smothered Burrito ($7.00) * 5 Asada (Beef) Tacos @ ($1.50) each hence it was ($7.50) * 1 order of Lengua Taco ($2.00) * 1 order of Al Carbon (Beef) Taco ($1.50) * 2 Bottles of Drinks @ ($1.90) each, hence ($3.80) Our Dinner with tax was $23.54 that evening. All in all, it was an OK Dinner. Hubs said it was OK too, with regards to his order of Asada (Beef) Smothered Burrito, and the 5 Asada (Beef) Tacos he had. I opt to have 1 Al Carbon Beef Taco and 1 Lengua Taco. Both Tacos, I ate, nothing stood out. YES, there are Cilantro and Raw Diced White Onions on all the Tacos we had. I realized on my Al Carbon Beef Taco, they also put shredded Mexican Cheese, in which I was hoping I could have more of those. ONLY 2 different kind of Salsa, or Sauces are given that evening too.
