I have been to this location a few times before but not in the last two years. I've always had good service and good food. Until tonight. I went with a friend and while the food was good, the service was horrible. So bad in fact, I completely spaced even taken photos of our food. Our service was extremely rude to us but engaged with the other tables she was serving. When I inquired about the drink menu, she was extremely short with me. My friend and I both asked again where and she finally pointed to the spot. The whole time never making eye contact and acting as if we were a bother to her. When she took our order, she was very curt and not helpful at all. When we paid at the front cashier area, the cashier wasn't any better. Again, no greeting - no how was your meal, etc. Oh, and definitely no thank you! In fact, when my friend mentioned that our service was not good, she said "ok" and started talking to the other cashier. Do better! read more

Stopped to grab dinner while my kid is at band practice. The last time I wanted to try this restaurant was on 4th of July weekend and they were closed. Glad I tried it today. They are well situated but unlike other Mexican restaurants I've been to, they don't have loud music blaring which was kinda nice. First, the salsa for the chips was in a little bottle which means you can add more to your bowl as you eat. I got the Tacos de Carbon which came with rice and beans. The beans were so creamy and the rice was well seasoned. The tacos were delicious and came with a tomatillo sauce. I thought the sauce would be super spicy but it wasn't but it complemented the tacos nicely. Those beans were so creamy and delicious I started dipping my chips in them instead of in the salsa. I've past El Torro for year's now and today decided to stop in for lunch. They are located on E. Main Street or U.S.136 in Brownsburg and easy to see from Main Street. Parking is a breeze with the large strip center parking lot. Patio seating is located on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant but was closed today even though it was a nice day. I arrived around noon and there were several folks already seated and a few waiting at the hostess area. I was seated within minutes in a booth under a small canopy within a large dining area full of other booths and 4-6 top tables which could easily be pulled together for large groups. The restaurant doesn't have the typical bright and colorful decor but netural shades of brown and blacks with a slightly western theme. El Torros' lunch menu is offered 11-3 all week long. Chips and salsa arrived quickly and my server was timely to take my drink order. When she returned I ordered the Enchiladas Suizas which is 2 tortillas filled with marinated chicken topped with cheese sauce, salsa verde and sour cream served with uninspiring rice. The amount of chicken was generous and tender with a flavorful verde sauce. The cheese sauce wasn't as spicy as I had hoped and the verde sauce was dominant. A good option for those who enjoy verde sauce but prefer a non-spicy entree. Overall, the Enchiladas Suizas was fine but I didn't find the entree memorable. The four stars are based upon quick service, food arriving hot and timely plus the generous amount of chicken and flavorful verde sauce. I won't rush back but I would dine here again if a friend wanted to. Give it a try and see what you think. read more

Tonight I had the Pollo supremo which is one of my go-to dishes, I get a plenty full portion, the salad is fresh and it was served within about 5 minutes. This place is not a fancy high-end expensive Mexican restaurant, it's more like the neighborhood mom and pop restaurant. I decided to pop into El Toro in Brownsburg after my workout for some choripollo and was not disappointed! As I walked in around 6 p.m., it was pretty quiet (Monday night). As I placed my order, people began to trickle in. The dining area was open and spacious. There is plenty of room for a big party (two birthday parties going on with this trip), a cozy booth for two, or a cozy booth for just me! The food came out hot, fresh, and fast! They had dinner and drink specials and the staff was very friendly. The chicken was moist and tender topped with their homemade chorizo and smothered in queso. This is my go-to meal, and you can make two meals out of one dish, and I don't mean eat half and take the other half home for another meal, althoughyou could do that. I mean, if you're torn between tacos and nachos, then you can have the best of both worlds. This dish comes with three tortillas, and whatever of the delicious meat and cheese combo is left you can scoop up with the leftover chips you didn't finish as your appetizer. How have I not reviewed this place yet! Brownsburg has at least 5 Mexican restaurants and I feel each one offers something unique. This is our go to spot for Margarita night. We all meet up and sit in the bar and talk. Since I cannot have cheese sadly my Mexican meals are a bit sad. Victor however knows our orders and treats us like royalty. Went to lunch with my daughter today. She has the naked burrito / shredded chicken. I ordered the Chille Colorado Burrito. Both were bland and quite lacking in much flavor. The sauce on my burrito tasted like tomato sauce and the meat was just fried and put in the burrito. My daughter asked for extra sour cream that we never recieved. Even after reminding the waitress. You know, this place just wasn't that good. I did like their salsa, but the other food was bland. We had guacamole, fajitas, and a quesadilla. Service was fine. The hard back wooden booth seating is very uncomfortable. There are so many of these Americanized Mexican joints around. This is one that I don't feel is worth going back to. read more
