My wife and I were in Puerto Rico for a week and I had heard of El Vagon on Yelp and it was about a mile walk from our hotel. The waitress was nice, but really didn't speak English, so I ordered a Corona and ceviche tacos. The food was brought out quickly in this open air patio and the tacos were perfect. Sweet, yet with a pickled tang. Good stuff. If you are in for a walk for some reasonable food and beer, I would go here off the main strip of San Juan!
Outdoor small restaurant with fans inside to cool you down. My girlfriend had the fish sandwich which was actually very very good! We also had the surf and turf, a chicken taco, beef and cheese empanada and some fries. Every thing that we ordered was great and the waitress was really nice. If anything, I would've probably gotten something else instead of chicken taco. I'm not too big of a fan of shredded chicken. Parking is a bit tough to find as it's street parking and it seems to be a busy road
I came around 4 pm on a Saturday, and there was plenty of seating. Although outdoor seating, there were two strong portable ac units and fans going, so very comfortable. I was immediately greeted by the server, Sheliany. She was very friendly, and informed me of the item they were out of (carnitas), and then gave me some time to look over the menu. I ordered the Baja Fish tacos, and they came out pretty quickly piping hot! The fish was very tender and well fried, not greasy at all, and a nice crunch. The cabbage slaw on top was refreshing. It was served with chips and beans, which were yummy. I also used the house made hot sauce, which wasn't too spicy but added a nice flavor to the tacos.
This is the first place we tried after we got settled in the hotel. The food was so good, flavorful and nice portions! You have to get the ceviche, it was the best Ive ever had. The waitress was very helpful and you can tell it's a local favorite. The outdoor seating was so nice and comfortable.
Now that were in Puerto Rico and it's Tuesday (late review), it's only right we get tacos for Taco Tuesday! After doing some research on where to go, we stumbled upon this place through Yelp. I believe El Vagon was our second option of places to go for tacos. The reason why we picked El Vagon because it had more options on the menu like fish taco, steak tacos, and etc. I was very surprised that there wasn't much deals going on for Taco Tuesday. Our first option was offering $2-$3 tacos but it looked simple. FOOD - We decided to order steak tacos $9.99 (2x tacos per order) and fish tacos $8.99 (fried in beer batter) and an order of ceviche original. Steak tacos - I would rate it 2.5/5. The steak was dry. Fish tacos - I would rate it 3.5/5. The fish itself was good but the coleslaw wasn't great. Ceviche, the description said it was made with "sweet chili". My first bite, I knew it was just simple Thai sweet chili sauce from the bottle LOL the ceviche was lacking that citrusy lime punch and also red onions. For $11, I guess I can't expect much. Overall, It was ok... I give this 3/5 stars because both of our servers were nice. And because we also ordered a margarita and it was good and strong lol
It's a cool open-air, window-serve spot that produces pretty good Tex-Mex comfort food. My partner and I came here last night based off their high rating (4.6 out of 5 stars) and we were hungry. They have quite a extensive menu with plenty of options to satisfy meat and non-meat lovers alike. We didn't want to order the same thing so we ordered two different menu options to share. We went with as follows: Nachos Machos: Cheese, pico de gallo, sour cream, re-fried beans, guacamole sauce and your favorite meat (we chose steak). SAMPLER (after 3:00 pm only): Wings, quesadillas, flautas, jalapeño poppers and Mmmpanadilla (delicious empanadas "Vagón Style" with ground beef or carnitas with cheese and red sauce). Both were very tasty and wonderful choices as we devoured them at once. I would recommend this place in the San Juan, PR area for sure! Just note that they are not a late-night spot so call beforehand. We went yesterday (a Saturday) and they closed at 9 pm.
Great local spot and amazing fish tacos. Came an hour before closing but drinks (margs) were so good and strong. Couldn't finish it all...fish tacos amazing and fish sandwich delicious and filling. Stop by if you're in the area because service, food and ambiance are such a good vibe. Love coming here every time in PR

My date and I each had two tacos (I had the Baja fish tacos and she had the steak tacos) and we got an order of the shredded chicken nachos as well. Everything was fresh and tasty and large portions. The service was great too. We had multiple people checking in on us and they were all nice. The vibe was cool. It's a couple food trailers with big covered patio.
Vagón was our first stop- 10 min from SJU airport. A perfect ambiance; outdoors with shade, bench seating and the cutest murals on the walls to give it a nice artist feel. The service was great- quick and everything looked delicious. The food was on point and a good price for about 2 tacos for 10-12$. This spot stays true to amazing fish tacos in the area
This place is kinda spartan, first-come, outside , but mostly under a covering, tables. It is among fast food restaurant chains in this hood, but this is an interesting original. We waved as we walked in to a waiter, pointed to a seemingly available picnic table, and he waved that we were good to go, so we sat right away, at 7:45p...after that more tables opened up. Drinks: 1. Pina colada - no bueno...like a coconut ice, not pina colada. 2. Passion fruit juice with fresh mint - delicious! 3. Cherry juice drink with alcohol - wife liked it, and I thought it was good. Appetizers: 1. Beef empanadas- I thought the crust overpowered the meat and onion, but daughter and wife loved it. 2. Nachos - terrible. Chips were stale and cheese/beans covering was bare, but then they gave us additional refried beans in a little cup, and straight I thought the refried beans were delicious. 3. Baha fish tacos - phenomenal!!! Entrees: 1 Chicken fajitas: disappointing. The spicing was off, on the chicken, and the guacamole was mostly sour cream. 2. Steak fajitas: very good and way better than the chicken Service was quick and the staff knew their stuff, but it took a long time to get the bill because other tables came in. read more

Literally a food truck like no other, right in the core of Santurce city area with table service. Park by the street when space available, or just a walk from your place. Service is attentive and fast. Loved our options and price wise it was very reasonable. read more

Great food and awesome service from Juan-Carlo! We have 3 and 5 year olds and they ate every bite. Great for kids: handheld items and quesadillas (duh). Caribbean music and food truck atmosphere makes things fun. Come here! read more

Service was efficient, ambiance is cute and colorful. We ordered the Baja fish tacos and the salmon tacos with a side of the mini nachos (didn't realize the tacos came with some chips and refried beans). Both my and my friend's tacos were really bitter! We couldn't figure out what It was making every bite have a hint of something bad. The Baja tacos were pretty good if you got past the bitter taste but the salmon tacos were dry and the combo just wasn't a great flavor. The hot sauce was great and we did use a lot of It to make things palatable. Overall, 3/5 maybe they could've been good but not worth It. read more

We had a craving for tacos and casual vibes and landed on this place. It did not disappoint. The service was fast, people friendly and had well-priced dishes. The mojitos were generous and the Vagon ale solid. We got the fish and ceviche tacos which came with nachos and salsa. Of the tacos we tried, the fish tacos were exquisite and my favorite. The ceviche tacos were good but had a little less of a prominent seafood taste. The vibe of the place was the cherry on top with a summer night feel that fosters a great meal and conversation. El Vagon is a MUST visit when in San Juan. Their food is delicious and a classic. If you're looking for a taco with taste and quality, then you have to come here. The restaurant is an outdoor place with covered patio seating. Picnic tables are the seats so it's very laid back and can be a quick stop if ordering to go. They serve the freshest fish on their fish tacos. Their nachos have a great portion of meat and other delicious toppings. Their tacos are served as two street tacos and you can eat them so quickly. I recommend ordering two kinds of tacos, or tacos and nachos. Each set of tacos come with chips and dip. The al pastor tacos will forever be my favorite. I've not had al pastor tacos better than these. I've heard the same comment for the fish tacos. The chicken nachos are the same quality and yumminess. I really can't stress enough how much you should come visit and eat here! read more

The surf and turf tacos were yummy and very generous in portion-I was hungry so concerned that two tacos wouldn't be enough, but it definitely was. I opted to get takeout, which you order from the bar car, as I had a few errands to run and it was ready in about fifteen minutes. All the staff I encountered, especially the bartender, were so lovely!! I actually enjoyed the service, even for my brief time there, even more than the food. The place was popping, with great music and a fun vibe and I would definitely go back and eat in with friends-don't miss out on the fresh juices-I got the passion fruit and it was delicious! read more

This place is very tasty. We order the Baja Fish Tacos and the Nacho Macho Plate. Both were very tasty. I'm not gonna say is 100% authentic Mexican but it's one of the best you will find here in PR (Consider I'm Mexican ok) Personal was just great their service was . And the prices are very affordable as well. Here some pictures. Remember if your in Puerto Rico and looking for Mexican Food this is a place that won't disappoint. My Husband went here after flying into San Juan. It's outdoors but covered protecting you from the hot sun and rain. We asked a couple coming out how the food was, and they said we couldn't go wrong with the fish sandwiches. My husband got them and I wish I did too! The fish was very tender and delicious! I got the Baja fish taco and a ground beef taco. Both very good and what I expected them to be like! Very happy with our visit. read more

After the overpriced ceviche and drinks at our hotel our stomachs willed us to this amazing little food truck. Ceviche nachos and Baja fish tacos were what was needed to fully satisfy. Even adding in 2 empanadillas, one each beef and pork, a Medalla and F.O.K. Mango Habanero iPA plus tip our food total was way under the hotel bill. Super tasty and worth the short drive over! Plus the service was excellent- very friendly and gave us great suggestions. One of our favorite food stops in PR. read more
