Mixed feeling about this place.. to be honest it's average... it's nothing you would drive out of your way for. Decor is really cute, music is tasteful and lively, service is ok: not great but not terrible. We ordered 2 empanadas (I think they are called pastelitos on their menu) they were out of beef so had 2 cheese, they were good and fried well enough were the cheese Didn't disappear like at most places, so that was good. Too bad they came with the food instead of like an appetizer like we asked because we ended up ignoring them. We ordered skirt steak and shrimps which was $26 and truthfully was a disappointment because of the size, 3 shrimp and the smallest skirt steak we have ever seen. It does come with rice and beans. We ordered the meat medium but it came cooked well done, therefore it was dry and not juicy. We also ordered a Mofongo with pernil, couldn't taste the pork in the Mofongo. The pernil was actually good but it had a tiny 1in sized piece of the crispy skin and thought that was a little on the cheap side! They usually accompany the pernil with this little garlic sauce but this sauce was overly peppery and had a huge amount of pepper settled on the bottom, so it was too pungent to enjoy. For drinks we had a morir Soñando which is I think evaporated milk with OJ... I know it sounds weird but trust me... try it!! We also ordered a passion fruit juice which was good. What I did find unpleasant was that we sat there for 15 mins with dirty plates while the waitress was busy taking new table orders then we asked for the bill and waited another 15 mins and the dirty dishes were still at our table. We understand that she was busy and didn't make a big fuss but I also believe that maybe the girls behind the counter that where not busy could have lend her a hand. We suggest you check your bill since the menu prices are different than what they charge and gratuity was included for 2 people. The drinks were different prices on the menu and were charged a different price on our bill. Overall $80 for 2 people seems excessive for just average lunch food which anywhere else would have averaged for like $40-$50. read more

First things first I wouldn't eat here until they post there grade from the health commissioner. The two women who work in the afternoon at 5pm are very nasty not welcoming & didn't handle the food properly. All there food looked un fresh like it's cooked the night before then constantly reheated through the day. They literally had no customer in store & I see why. They only spoke to customers who spoke Spanish. Very nasty & un welcoming I wouldn't ever take my family to eat there nor would I even order takeout. They need better staff & better customer service. No reason to pay for bad food & bad customer service. read more

Horrible Service. After being seated we waited 10 minutes for a menu and then another 10 minutes for the waitress to return to take our order. The place was empty. Then we see the waitress leave and does not return for 30 minutes (3 PM). So when we inquired about our order it appears she never placed it before leaving. Therefore we had to wait even longer now. After all this the food was mediocre at best (steak very dry). When the food came out, no utensils no condiments so I had to go and ask for it. With service like this the business will not be around much longer. Best of luck to the owner and I would recommend he/she look into hiring professional employees. read more

The place has been on a steady decline. They eliminated the lunch specials which was the only value they had. The regular portions are loaded with rice and like 2 small pieces of meat(very cheap with the meat). The servers attitudes all stink. They don't treat repeat customers well at all. You are way better off going to Brisas as you will get fresher food, better portions or proportioned food and better service. read more

Had to spend money for doctor and urgent care visits because I got a serious bacterial infection from that beef stew. Specifically, H. Pylori. Let's just say, blood came out of places blood has never come out of before and I was on painkillers for days to cope with the intense stomach cramps and, well, you get the idea. Technically, it was just bad bacteria from their beef stew (rotten meat) which I was on strong antibiotics for. Could have killed me so now I'm scared to get takeout anywhere regardless of the ratings on the window and generally make my meals at home. So yeah, update: don't eat here because that should never have happened. read more

Took the family out to eat and I was NOT impressed. We ordered Pernil which had no taste; ordered chicharrón de cerdo which was all FAT-No meat or taste. It was gross. We left the entire entree. We asked for a side of tostones to come along with the order and lime for the chicharrón and the slices were so thin it looked like chips. Won't be coming here again. read more

I came to el Valle tipico looking for an authentic Dominican dish, and that's exactly what I got. First of, the establishment was very clean! That's always a plus for me! They are now closed. Maybe it has to do with racism. You can not open a hispanic restaurant and expect only hispanic people to eat there. When most hispanic people make the same exact thing in their homes. I've gone there three times since they open and each time my service was HORRIBLE TERRIBLE AND FLAT OUT DISRESPECTFUL! My four year old would sit down and wait to be helped and served forever! It got to the point where I had to keep going to the counter to ask for my food, a fork, even my bill. Never got asked what to drink. It was just that bad. The food was decent but not worth the headache and frustration that came along with eating there. I have ordered three times and each time the food was great. But I learned after the 2nd order to make sure they have everything you order. They are not organized in taking orders via phone. I again, tell you that the food is great. But their ordering via phone is not great. Just make sure you check for what you ordered. I personally feel from what i see when i visit is that they have too many people running the place. It should be one person taking orders. Then getting the orders completed in order they are received. I noticed that they place the food on the counter and no one appears to know who gets what. read more
