I came here for a team get-together that also lined up with my birthday month, so it was the perfect chance to celebrate -- and I'm really glad we did. The vibes were amazing from start to finish: great music (major shoutout to the DJ), perfect lighting, and a lively, fun atmosphere that made the night feel special. The food was fantastic and the portions were huge -- seriously, two or three people could've eaten from my plate alone. I ordered the pernil with rice and beans, plus a variety appetizer platter. The pork was juicy (though I do wish the skin was a little crispier), the beans were flavorful, and both the garlic and chimichurri sauces were top-notch. The potato salad was okay, but overall, the meal delivered big flavor and big portions. Since it was my birthday, the team surprised me with a birthday flan and tres leches dessert plate that the restaurant provided. It was the perfect ending -- sweet, creamy, and delicious. The birthday celebration itself was incredible; you truly feel like a superstar. Between the LED signs, the DJ shoutouts, and your name flashing across the booth screen, the energy was unmatched. The drinks were just okay, nothing to write home about, but they got the job done. The only other downsides were the limited parking (especially at night) and the two-hour time limit for our party of ten. Still, it was a fantastic night overall. Went here on a Wednesday night for karaoke and drinks for my first time . The drinks were well made but they were only 3 of us and we ordered no food and weren't even there that long . For that I was charge $24.90 in gratuity for a party of three that ordered no food and a few drinks ? Then to add insult to injury they charge you another $3.74 for using a card . I understand businesses are struggling but so are some customers. I think in the same way we're seeing a huge decline in alcohol sales more and more restaurants will continue to fail due to this type of price gouging . It would be unfair not to mention the place was very clean. The drinks were well-made and the service was good. . The Karaoke was also excellent.. to me. For me The biggest fail is charging me a 20% gratuity to sit down and have drinks with only three people at the table and we were not even there that long . Good luck with that. read more

Came here for my friend's birthday party. My friend kept forgetting to make a reservation but they were able to accommodate us the day before thankfully. Since we were a party of 10 we were given the option of pre-fix menu for $40 which included family style shared appetizers and one entree with a choice of a side. The portions are HUGE so come hungry. The sides include rice and beans, arroz con gandules, Maduros, tostones just to name a few! The food was flavorful the arroz con gandules was my favorite literally tasted like they do back in any Spanish event lol. The vibes were great the dj started at 8pm and kept the party going. They also have hookah but we didn't get it. With our pre-fix the whole party also got family style shared desserts everyone loved them so much I was not able to get a pic as everyone devoured them so much. 4/5 due to the drinking could have been a bit stronger but definitely delicious! read more

This place has been many different businesses over the years. This one seems to have been the most successful in recent years and I think it's because of the crowd that it generates. If you are into really loud music and boozy brunch vibes, this is the place for you. The service is all inclusive so sometimes the waitstaff isn't the most attentive since they are getting their tip automatically. I personally like to sit at the bar because service tends to be better there. The bartenders can't really travel too far or avoid you for too long when you are sitting in front of them. I've order a few items off appetizers and entrees. I will say the portions are generous but the prices also reflect that. They also give some warm garlic bread for a starter when you order entrees. People that are salt sensitive might find the food to be over salted but I really don't find this issue with most things. I have had food that has been too salty for me but it's not often that I run into that issue. The chicharron de pollo on the bone is really good and juicy. The best orders are the ones where you have to be careful with the bones. Thats when you know that someone's grandmother is back in the kitchen making tasty food. I've ordered the pernil and it's good. The portion is big and I usually like to take the leftovers and make a sandwich during the week. I've also ordered the whole fish thats stuffed with rice. However, we showed up very hungry so we ordered food and were a bit isolated, which we actually preferred because we drank while they ate and now we were eating while they were drinking. Not gonna lie some Caribbean restaurants have slooow island service even in the States but Made in PR is not one of them! I had the alcapurrias appetizer - so dang good. My sister almost ate all of it after she said she only wanted "one little bite". My son had white rice with black beans and chuletas. The pork chops were seasoned just right and tender. I had the besos dulces drink - really nice. Son had a coconut margarita - was surprisingly good! The plátanos maduros had tasty crispy edges and very moist in the center. Overall a fantastic dinner and the service was OUTSTANDING. Only downside was that the music was way too loud for a Tuesday night especially with the restaurant not that full. For a family dunch, my mother-in-law decided on Puerto Rican food. While most of the dishes were decent, some dishes were a miss and the service was indifferent. One thing this place has is decent music and vibes. Our party of 5 were escorted to a booth in the back facing the side of the bar and with a view of the stage in the back of the restaurant. Unfortunately there was no live performance on the day we went. There are also TVs at the bar playing the latest sports games. The overall vibe was lively. Getting our orders in was easy and we got two orders of 2 alcapurrias, beef mofongo, queso frito, cameron de coco, chicharron de pollo sin hueso, and a side of arroz con habichuela. The food was a mixed bag. The alcapurrias were perfect. But the beef in the beef mofongo was chewy. The queso frito was nicely fried without being greasy and accompanied by a pleasant guava sauce. But the chicharron was chewy. The fried coconut shrimps were indeed jumbo and juicy. Except the sauce was really sweet. And nobody can ruin rice and beans so that was fine too. There seems to be a pattern of chewy land meat in the establishment, but the alcappurias were made from beef and were tender and juicy so I guess it just depends what you order. At least everything came in pretty big portions so that's a plus. The service was inconsistent. Our main waiter rarely came by, but the busboys were friendly and made sure our glasses were filled. Our main waiter, the king of indifference, was more interested in the sports game on TV than providing us decent service. I guess the mandatory tipping amount for larger parties gave him a reason to slack on the job. My mother-in-law asked if they did military discounts and the bill came back discounted. Except if you want the military discount, you can't get the cash discount. It seems like every good thing is balanced by an equally bad thing. To sum it all up, the experience was a mixed bag. Hopefully this is not what's actually "made in puerto rico" because I'm going there next month. I'm 99% sure the food will be better on the island. Fingers crossed. P.S. This is my 3rd time returning and each time the ambiance is nice, but as the years go things change, food changes, clients change and lastly service. This time the food was good (4 out of 5), missing note was the salmon was bland, but all other plates were great! Drinks were strong and tasty! Service was good, waiter was attentive and nearby. The ambiance has changed a bit, just a few years ago, you weren't able to walk inside from the crowds, today it was a little empty. Came here with my BF on a Sunday afternoon without a reservation as was seated immediately. For $40 you get a Picedera for the table, an entree and one hour of unlimited drinks (sangria, mimosa or soft drinks). The drink options won me over seeing as how most restaurants make the entire table participate in unlimited alcoholic drinks. Ordered the Thanksgiving at home feast which after taxes was $279. It was a whole turkey, arroz con gandules, stuffing w/gravy, dinner rolls, and 2 wines(chefs choice). For the sides we picked Mac n Cheese and potato salad, and for desert we chose a flan. Let's start with the turkey, small turkey unseasoned , still had the turkey cooker pop up in it and pulled out some sort of plastic which evidently melted in it. It was not edible, it was undercooked and still red in the inside. Pure disgusting! The Mac n Cheese was tasteless and super dry and the potato salad was literary half cut potatoes thrown in with uncooked hard carrots and mayo. The flan looked good but was super bad and tarty. All that money and the only thing good was the arroz con gandules. Luckily we had ordered this as a back up. But I did make sure everyone at the party knew where this food came from. It's very sad that Made in Puerto was a reputable place but it definitely has gone downhill. Will never go nor order from here again. read more

I came here with a large group of around 17 people to celebrate a birthday. We had a reservation at 7:30pm. Everyone needed to be there in order to be seated, so once everyone arrived we went inside. From outside, we heard music but it wasn't until we went inside when we realized they had a dj and they were BLASTING the music. It was extremely loud. We could barely hear each other talk without yelling or literally talking into each other's ear. They asked us if we wanted to do the Pre-Fix Menu when we entered (it was very hard to even hear the staff) and we agreed. That comes with a set appetizer and dessert assortment, and each individual person picks their main meal of choice. I ordered the Pernil Asado, which took a while to come but it was a huge piece and I was not disappointed with it. Very juicy and tender, it was delicious. I also tried the Pollo al Horno, BBQ chicken and that really tasted like it was straight off the grill. It was also so good. All of the appetizers were pretty good too! They were all listed on the Pre-Fix Menu. They kept the menus at the table throughout the meal. When dessert came, they gave us tres Leche cake, flan and cheesecake assortments. The birthday girl got her own extra tres leche piece. The tres leche was very dry and the leche had the consistency of water. It was very runny and liquidy... the flan texture was off and honestly wasn't that great. The only dessert I could eat was the cheesecake, but there was nothing special about it, it tasted like a regular cheesecake you'd buy from a supermarket. At the end of our meal we asked the waiter for some coffee for 6 of us, and we ended up waiting at least 40 minutes before asking again. We waited another 30 minutes just for the coffee. By this time it was a little busy, but we only asked for a few coffees. Overall, the food is very delicious but I would skip the desserts altogether until they tweak the recipes. Our waiter was very slow, only the bus boys were amazing with refilling the water frequently. The dj played some good music, he switched from Spanish music to throwbacks and rnb, and some classics, but the volume was just very overwhelming. The music speaker was next to me though I complained because it did not sound good, totally ignored. The food served to a number of us were small portions. I had the Ropa Vieja , which had no taste and was oily and the rice was ok, not to impress..The dishes ordered were very expensive and not to impress. I have not found a good Puerto Rican restaurant with authentic dishes in the Bronx. Once the waiter took our order, it took a while to get our food. Once it was delivered he never bothered to come back to see how was everything or the food but came back when we asked for the bill. I had tasted a little of octopus salad and explained to my friend had no taste and was rubbery. Seating for two are in Small spaces. Place is little snug and very noisy. Don't matter where you're seated you'll be few feet from the bar. It seemed as if this spot attracts large parties for birthday celebrations. There's a DJ, and loud music playing from TV's over bar so it's difficult to conduct a convo with company. If your into Hookah, that's available. It has more of an after hours lounge feel, than intimate dining experience, even if you're doing an earlier dinner. Granted it's a weekend. I did like their Birthday sing along though... they bring out a led lit logo sign and dance around at your table with sparkling bottles. We weren't on an bday occasion, just din, but we witnessed about 8 sing alongs. The DJ will definitely shout you out a few times throughout the evening, and no one seemed to be missed. Music was a mix of Caribbean- Spanish, Jamaican, African mainly. You'll find yourself bopping or tapping those feet under the table here and there.
