My friend had her birthday lunch here. We took up the whole back section. The space was lovely, colorfully decorated, and festive. Menus were fancy iPads with photos of the food and drink offerings. I was super excited to see there was Horchata, but sadly they were out of that beverage. For my meal, I ordered the Steak Mole Enchilada, which was served with rice and beans. The Steak was perfectly cooked, tender, and well seasoned. The Mole sauce had some nice, layered flavor, however, I found the it to be overly sweet. I had a chance to try the Coconut Shrimp and Chips with Chorizo Cheese dip. Coconut Shrimp was succulent, juicy, and delightfully crispy. The Chorizo combined with satisfyingly melty cheese was absolutely delicious and crave worthy. For dessert, we were served complimentary Churros with chocolate sauce. The Churros were dry, stale, and crunchy not in a good way. I could not even finish one of them. Service was decent. It was quite hectic and busy because we were such a large group, but the servers did their best. My entree was just okay, so I would not return. read more

Tonight I ordered the chicken burrito, and it did not disappoint. It was basically a tostada de tinga wrapped in a flour tortilla lol which I didn't mind because I love tinga. It came with chicken, black beans, Spanish rice, lettuce, tomato, pico, and a shredded cheese blend. My only suggestion: to stay more on theme with the tinga tostada flavor profile, I would've opted for cotija cheese instead of the shredded blend to really enhance the flavor. The burrito also came with chips, a small dollop of guac (which was also very tasty), and a red sauce that tasted more like an enchilada sauce than a traditional salsa. I also asked for the green sauce, which was a mild tomatillo salsa. Everything was delicious! The chips were good, the burrito even better, and I finished every bite. Much needed after a late-night Solidcore class. Ambiance-wise, it's definitely more of a sports bar vibe with seating, so it can get a bit loud at times, but the staff was very friendly and attentive :) read more

Upon arrival, you're presented with an iPad with a nested menu including at least 3 different layers of subcategories, featuring items ranging from fettuccine Alfredo to chilaquiles to crème brûlée. The environs are pretty dark inside, but it was the closest thing on Marathon Day when we couldn't cross 4th Avenue. I opted for the chilaquiles rojos, which felt like a pretty safe bet. The salsa and fried egg were good, although most of the chips were still crispy and not fully coated in salsa. The black beans that came on the side were fine, but not especially flavorful. Overall, a decent neighborhood option but probably not a spot to go out of your way for. read more

I stopped by El Zason after an appointment for lunch and enjoyed the experience. They have a number of lunch specials and they also have 2 for 1 all day Happy Hour that hit the spot. I had the chicken burrito which was tasty and enjoyed a sangria (or two lol). The service was fine l, the bartender/server was attentive and professional. The restaurant is nice, with cute decorations and the ambiance is that of a friendly, but cozy place. Definitely recommend stopping by if in the area! read more

Was in a pinch for time and stopped into El Zason for dinner. This is probably my fault for ordering wings at a Mexican restaurant, but they looked amazing on the menu (picture below)! When the wings were delivered, they looked nothing like they were on the menu (breaded) and were very chewy. Poor quality and value. Ordered the Sea and Land fajitas and 80% of the steak was inedible. So fatty and tough I couldn't cut or chew through it and had to throw a lot of it out. The Chips and Salsa was $10 and you only get a 2 tiny containers of salsa that is not worth it since one of them tastes like has the taste and texture of smoky, bitter oil. But even if they were both good it's not enough for half the bag of chips. read more

Came here before the Usher concert. I appreciated that they had an Usher playlist on for us. We had guacamole for an appetizer. It was happy hour. I had a $5 blue moon and my sister had a $5 corona. The guacamole was average. It could've used more seasoning. I had the flautas as my meal, my cousin had the quesadilla and my sister had 2 orders of the shrimp tacos. Great customer service. We stopped here after leaving the comedy club next door. We were starving. We sat at the bar. We ordered the shrimp nachos, although you don't get much shrimp. All the ingredients are piled on and seasoned well. We ordered the chicken flautas, and although a pretty dish the chicken inside was extremely dry, it's served with some of the best green salsa sauce I've ever had. I got the bottomless brunch option which is bottomless drink and one main dish. My dish of choice was the steak and eggs and I loved every bite. After a long hard day at work, found this cool new spot a few blocks away from my job. And us it was HAPPY HOUR which made me and my colleague happy to eat and enjoy a drink or two. I had the Box #5 Tacos. It was brought out on a charcuterie board. I had the beef, chicken and shrimp tacos. My favorite was the beef tacos with that awesome green sauce. Prices were reasonable for the portions but the taste of the food exceeded my expectations! Yummy . My friend ordered the chicken enchiladas and practically swallowed her food it was so darn delicious! I think this is our new Friday after work happy hour place! Unfortunately I didn't get to take a good look at the decor since we were seating in front table of the restaurant. Our server Caesar was a great. We had a classic mojito and decided to immediately order a second round. Perfect balance of sweet and sour. Lunch was pork ribs (yes, I know...don't judge). It was delicious and so tender. I don't think they had the heat on and the area towards the bathroom was freezing. We ordered a Mexican hot chocolate ($3.50) to warm up. The hot chocolate was warm and tasty. I was able to taste a hint of cinnamon. I love the cute mugs the hot chocolate came in. I ordered the chilaquiles de la casa ($14) and Lotus ordered the Sunny Side Up eggs ($14). The dishes came out hot and beautifully presented with a big portion of food. However, my entree was disappointing and quite flavorless. The chips were drenched in tasteless sauce and quite soggy. The sunny side eggs were delicious and the mole sauce was superb. The mole sauce was more chocolate-ly than other mole sauces I have tasted. I would definitely get this entree again if I am in the area. The brunch prices seem fair but, the dinner menu the prices were a bit more expensive. The service was okay. The waitress was friendly but, kinda went on with her life and didn't really check in. Only when she was checking if we wanted to order more food. A large half chicken smother in mole and sesame seeds, served alongside some sweet plantains. Chicken is slightly overcooked, but the sauce is fantastic - thick and balanced flavor. Plantains are cooked well, providing some sweetness to the meal. Washed it down with a draft IPA ($8). Waitress was attentive, getting the drinks and checks promptly. I've been on a quest to find a great Mexican restaurant in Brooklyn and this might be it . I used to get mexican food afew blocks away Nacho Machi but this spot destroy them. Although I tried this restaurant when I was extremely hungry , I can assure you I'm of very sound mind in giving them a perfect rating . The price might be a couple dollars too high but that's a topic for someone else to elaborate on I'll just focus on the quality of the food . The steak tacos are the best I've ever had . It comes in 3's and trust me, you'd want all three . The steak is extremely tender and has juicy fatty pieces that tasted similar to brisket. The seasonings they used all created an incredible flavor that was only aided by their ridiculously good red sauce . I had these without guac but I can't even imagine them being any better but I'll try next time with guac to determine . The amount of meat they pack in these tacos is very fair and I think it's a great value unlike the chicken burrito . The chicken burrito was a hit as well . What stood out to me was the seasonings that they used . It was just a masterpiece in terms of how they combined the various spices and seasonings and made something simple really stand out and savory . Everything stood out except the guac . I ate the entire burrito and didn't detect any guac which I hope they work on in the future so I don't resort to buying it on the side . Regardless , it was an almost excellent burrito and just an excellent eating experience . I did take my food home but there is ample dine in space for atleast 15 people . The manager I presume was kind and took my order over the phone so I just had to pick it up after afew minutes . Needless to say , I'd recommend giving this restaurant a try.
