This place was really cute, I came here twice during my stay at Hotel Lincoln. Everyone that works here is very friendly. The first day I got an iced caramel latte with the egg white crepe. Coffee was good, crepe was alright. The second day I got the lavender vanilla latter and it was not that great, it tasted super watered down and what was supposed to be the lavender flavor kind of just tasted like a hint of soap. I'd recommend sticking to regular coffee if you go here. read more

Elaine's Coffee Call is a nice spot to visit, especially since it's a short walk from the lake/the park. I actually visited after going to the J Parker (it is located within Hotel Lincoln) for a quick pick-me-up. Atmosphere- Very chill vibe, I'd come here to do work as well since they also have wifi and some couches/tables. Service- Coffee is always quick, I appreciated that the barista took the time to give me recommendations and she was very friendly. Coffee- I ordered the seasonal honey lavender latte. SO GOOD. I dream about that latte. Not sure if they still have it now with the Fall upon us, but even so I bet their other flavors are just as good. Stopped in for a coffee on 6/6/24 at 11:15 AM. No one else was ordering at the counter at that time. The person at the register stood there in front to, I assume, take my order, as he was not occupied with anything else apparently, but instead continued to stand right in front of me looking out at me through his iridescent sunglasses and never acknowledging my presence. I ordered, speaking to him, I thought, but someone else silently acted on it while he continued to stand right in front of me staring as if I wasn't there. Fumbled for a moment to use my phone to pay but something wasn't right with the app so I used my card instead. Only then did he move, in order to mechanically put the paper receipt in front of me to sign and perhaps see if I was adding a tip. He never said a word to me the entire time except to say, "$5.59". I have been to Elaine's many times over the years and everything has always been fine, but this time it seemed like I was invisible. It's not that hard to visually acknowledge a customer when they walk up to the counter, especially when it's not busy and you're not doing anything else. That creates a weird uncomfortable vibe, so I guess it will be a while till I return. I'm 72 and this time I felt like I didn't belong there. Oh well. read more

I came here to drink coffee, eat a sandwich, and do some work after looking at someone's blog post about Chicago coffee spots and then checking the Yelp reviews. My experience here was aight. It's a small place. It opens into the lobby for Lincoln Hotel. Theres's a long black couch near window and plenty of electrical outlets scattered on the walls around the cafe. It can be loud because of the high traffic from people staying at Lincoln Hotel, so I had to play music into my earphones for most of the time. The tables are small. Coffee tastes fine. I got iced vanilla latte. The espresso was poured in last and I had to finish mixing it up by myself. There was a load of ice in my cup. Whole milk was used without me asking for it or me being asked for any preference. Staff was friendly for the most part. I wonder if they get bored behind the counter. I asked for my roasted turkey sandwich to be toasted and they toasted it so nicely. Thank you for doing that! Sandwich was $8 but the turkey wasn't just regular deli turkey and I was hungry so I was okay with the price that time. Patrons use the Lincoln Hotel restroom and wifi. This place is a 15-minute walk from the Clark/Division red line subway station and across the street from the 36 or 22 bus stop. read more

I come here all the time, this is one of the most underrated spots to grab a good latte. Visitors staying at the Lincoln Hotel are lucky, because most people who actually live here in the city don't know about this little cafe, perfectly situated directly across from the park. It's such a lovely little place to sit, and they offer oat milk which is a huge bonus!!!! Their lavender latte is delicious too. I like coming on weekdays, because since it's so small it can easily get crowded with no seats left. It's also nice to pick up a drink before or after heading to the farmers market in the park in warmer months :) read more

Elaine's is located in the Lincoln Hotel (across from Lincoln Park) but it's certainly not just for hotel guests. It is a small cafe but one that's cute on charm! One long table with some free local newspapers can make your morning caffeine relaxing. It has a vintage/rustic feel to it. Relaxing! They do offer some bites to eat (not a large menu) and ready to go sandwiches that they will heat up for you if you wish. Before going on a tour I stopped in here for some tea and a turkey sandwich. A little more expensive than I would have liked but the convenience outweighed the price at that point. The service is friendly and the place is neat and well kept. read more

My friends and I stopped by Elaine's Coffee on a Sunday afternoon after visiting the zoo. This shop is in a very convenient location for a walk home from the zoo. The coffee shop was not very busy and we were able to place our order right away with plenty of seating choices available. The staff was overall friendly and were working hard to get all the drink orders out. I ordered an iced vanilla latte which was good. I also enjoyed the decor of the coffee shop. It was unique with a mixture of vintage and eclectic design. The only cons I found for my visit were the very limited flavorings available for the coffee drinks. They had only 4- vanilla, chocolate, caramel, and lavender. I expected many more options for a restaurant that specializes in coffee. read more

The ambiance is incredible! I walked in and almost squealed it is just that nice. But alas the oatmeal and the crepe were both a bit below average. This is a super cute coffee place right across from the Lincoln Park Zoo, the location at which I was before I ventured here. It's connected to the lobby of Hotel Lincoln, which looks super hip and trendy. The decor of Elaine's Coffee Call is very mid-century modern. I ordered an iced soy latte and my boyfriend got the iced coffee. It wasn't too pricy for a coffee shop. Both came out to $8. I noticed they had La Colombe coffee beans when I was there. We were here waiting for friends staying at Hotel Lincoln. It's a coffee place. We had coffee...actually we had iced coffee. It was good. Seating was nice. It was good to be in a place I felt I belonged rather than hanging in a lobby in a hotel I was not staying. That made Elaine's very attractive. It was a great place to hang. Nice view of all the exciting stuff going on outside. Took a great selfie here. If I can figure out how to attach it, I will. I needed a quick sit down for a few hours to get some school work done before I went out and this was the place. Though very small- all was great. High traffic due to the fact that it is in the hotel. Few seats, left when I got there at noon, had to cozy up next two a few ladies reminiscing about their night, all good though! Enjoyed my to go to- coffee with steamed almond milk..maybe next time I'll be less basic--I still enjoyed my order though! This is a coffee shop that is attached to the newly remodeled (and swanky) Hotel Lincoln. I love this place! The staff is really nice! They remember you and strike up a conversation if you're a regular. It's my vote for best espresso drinks I've had in Chicago. The latte is so smooth; it's a perfect combination of coffee and milk with no burnt taste. The same goes for the Cappuccino. I'm a big fan of the Gibraltar: it's a double shot of espresso with just a shot of milk. The coffee is smooth, so isn't overpowering. The drip coffee is good, and I'm happy to get something outside of either Intelligentsia or Metropolis coffee beans as I'm not a huge fan of either and they're what is used at the majority of independent coffee shops (it gets boring). The ice coffee is "Pure Black" and is strong, but smooth. They serve it from a beer tap behind the counter. The food is good, however, it's really expensive. A delicious crepe with fresh bacon, eggs, and cheese, will run you $8. Or a crepe that's egg whites, pesto, spinach, on a whole wheat crepe. $8. It's really good though. I think a lot of the price comes from everything being local and "organic" food. I'm a big fan of the coffee cake. There is free wifi and they let you stay after closing, so I go here to work (I'm there right now, typing this) I also like that they are environmentally conscious. Most things are local and the plastic cups, etc, are made from plants and are compostable. The paper cups and napkins are from recycled paper. It has a few negatives that aren't really the establishments fault: it's too popular and doesn't have enough space to accommodate everyone. It has a chill, retro living room feel, but that is also a hindrance as it's hard to find a space to work or read. I've left because I felt like a jerk being there after I finished my drink since people needed to sit down. That's not really the establishment's fault as it's the space they have to work with, and also, it's designed to be a place for people to grab something quick if they are staying in the hotel. Overall, this is a great place. Great staff, coffee (especially espresso), and tasty food (but expensive). I like the space and if it's full, you can go across the street into Lincoln Park and read on a bench. read more

Cute little coffee joint in Lincoln Park across from the zoo. Stopped in to take a brief rest after exploring the zoo and ordered a vanilla cappuccino and buttermilk orange marmalade muffin. The cappuccino was well balanced - not too sweet, plenty of foam, and the muffin looked home made and had the deliciousness of a buttermilk pancake that is hard to put your finger on alongside a nice crumble. The muffin was slightly dry but overall good. My wife had a drip coffee which she said was nice and strong but not too bitter. My favorite place in Lincoln Park for coffee, without question. Before I moved into the neighborhood I'd go every Saturday before shopping at Green City Market. Now, I'm a bit of a latte snob, but I judge the quality of regular coffee by whether or not I can drink it without cream (I'm just not hardcore enough for black coffee). But no doubt I could drink theirs without. Its very smooth; none of that Starbucks burned flavor going on. AND they pour a shot of espresso over the regular iced to give it a little extra flavor and kick. My fav. Really what prompted me to write this though, is their pumpkin butter latte. I just got it (like 15 min ago), took a sip, and immediately thought I needed to write this so that other people could share in the glory. It. is. amazing. Makes it evident how much Sbux tastes like a sugary cup of burned espresso and chemical flavoring in comparison. Oh, and the scones. Get the scones. They're all good, but growing up near tart cherry country (Door Co, Wisconsin), the cherry walnut ones taste like home. read more

My experience is limited to one medium cuppa Joe. It was darn good coffee and any place that has soy milk for my dairy-freeness is A-OK in my book! The seating is limited to a few cozy chairs near the window and one big table in the middle with a support beam at one end. The cozy chairs were taken. Drats! The place is small but really cute and has a hip vibe with good music. As we sat at the table they were closing up. We were told we could stay after they closed.
