Usually I left a couple days after my visit to write my review, but this time I could not wait! It almost NEVER when my husband eats cake, because he is lactose intolerant. He picked the chocolate coconut slice. Not only he likes it, he gave it a 5/5! He was like "it's moist. It's chocolate! it's coconuty! Great balance!". Cute café with good coffee (4/5 Green Stars) I visited Café Crèmerie twice in one day. Once for lunch and then again in the evening for a Too Good To Go pick-up - cake slices! Too Good To Go is a program that allows businesses to sell left over food at the end of the day on discount, avoiding food waste. For lunch I had an Americano, the vegetarian egg sandwich and a Margherita Bistro, which is like a cross between a margherita pizza slice but in a latticed pastry. Both the Americano and egg sandwich were actually excellent, while the Margherita Bistro was less noteworthy but fine. Actually when I looked up Margherita Bistro, wanting to learn if it's a common thing and it turns out that it's made by a food service company (Bridor, owned by French Groupe Leduff which supplies baked goods to cafés all over Europe). I got two cake slices later in my Too Good To Go order. The strawberry cheesecake (Monteressa cheese cake, made with marscapone, ricotta and fresh strawberries) was delicious while the carrot cake was not as good but still fine. It turns out that the Monteressa cheesecake is made by another big supply company (Bindi) that supplies Italian desserts. Coffee appears to be from Illy. I'd definitely recommend Café Crèmerie for their good coffee, excellent egg sandwich, and nice atmosphere. I'm also giving Café Crèmerie 4/5 Green Stars for social and environmental impact, based on the following: * First I'll get into the mediocre aspects and then some positive points. * Coffee is from Illy, which I would say is slightly better than average for a major coffee company. It's a certified B Corporation but it not known for organic or fair trade coffee (they do a kind of direct trade). * Many of the pastries are mass-produced by companies that supply European or European-style cafes. Like Illy, these suppliers are perhaps slightly better than average: Bridor mentions using cage-free eggs while Bindi uses renewable energy. * A lot of the menu is suitable for vegetarians and I appreciate that there's no sign of beef on the menu (the single food product that drives around 10% of climate change). Would be nice to see more vegan options. * Café Crèmerie does a nice job at avoiding waste generation. Ceramic cups are available for coffee and food is served on trays with a paper liner. * I also appreciate that Café Crèmerie takes part in the Too Good To Go program, avoiding food waste. read more

I was walking around the Magnificent Mile when it started drizzling, so I searched for the closest café and ended up here. It turned out to be a cozy little spot with a great selection of pastries and a few indoor tables, making it a nice place to escape the rain for a bit. The staff was friendly, and I ordered a hot latte along with a chocolate croissant. The croissant was absolutely delicious, fresh, flaky, and definitely the highlight of my visit. My only disappointment was that even though I was dining in, my latte was still served in a paper cup instead of a "for here" mug. The croissant was also handed to me in a paper bag rather than on a plate, which made eating it at the table a little awkward. It's a small detail, but I think serving dine-in orders on proper plates and in ceramic cups would make the experience feel much nicer.Other than that, it was a lovely little café and a perfect place to warm up while waiting for the rain to pass. read more

Cafe Creamerie is such a cute little spot in the city -- cozy vibes, bright interior, and a menu loaded with desserts and fun drink options. It's the kind of place that instantly gives you that "treat yourself" feeling. I tried their viral Tiramisu Latte, and honestly, it was just okay for me. The presentation was great, but the drink leaned way too sweet. They mentioned it's made with dark chocolate, but the flavor tasted much closer to milk chocolate, which kind of threw it off. Social media sent me. Sometimes, influencers can be amazing guides; other times, they're full of... baloney. In my opinion, the only thing Café Crèmerie has going for it is its Instagrammable interior. Since the only thing I post on IG is pictures of my cat, I couldn't care less about how many likes it would get me. Oh, and that really pretty courtyard? It's not theirs, so you're unable to enjoy your coffee and desserts out there. In terms of atmosphere, the interior where one can enjoy their goods is on the smaller side, and during a busier time, it can be hard to find a table. I will give them points for the space being inviting and clean. However, on the flip side, something that detracts from this vibe is the incessant "tling-ding-ding-ding" every time the door opens. Furthermore, for a place this nice, the only forks they have are cheap ones that look like they're sold at a dime store. Finally, if they truly want to be authentic to their European theme, they'd have a water station, rather than requiring guests to ask and then being given something that isn't even cold. Moving on... Now let's talk coffee. On my two visits here, I ordered a Cortado. On the first occasion, they'd made a latte instead. On the second, it was of the appropriate size for a cortado, but still not great, as the coffee notes were too muted for my taste. Next, the cakes. I don't recall the specific details about my first visit, but I can tell you about the Dulce de Leche cheesecake. This one was also not a winner. The consistency was too firm, nor was it rich and velvety as a great cheesecake should be. As for the babycake -- this one was better, with a harder outside shell and a soft, flavorful interior. However, despite being not much larger than a die (as in, singular of dice), it cost $2.50. With all of this, let's discuss the value proposition. The cost of the Cortado, cheesecake, and babycake came out to $18.65. This was after tax, a non-cash fee of 4%, and a service fee to boot (also 4%). That's almost $20 for a small cup of coffee, a cheesecake that might as well have come from a gas station, and a babycake that with some paint could work at a craps table. But hey, you get to make your friends jealous on your social media of choice... until they come here and realize they've been misled. read more

Truly a beautiful coffee shop. The founder was inspired by her trips to Europe to bring similar vibes to Chicago. It wasn't too crowded on a Wednesday afternoon. I got the tiramisu Latte, which was too sweet. I think they just use some Torani syrup. Also, it was kind of pricey for the size ($6.50 for a pretty small cup), and they add a 4% service fee and 4% credit card charge on charge of Chicago's 11% in sales tax, which I don't love. read more

The ice cream was amazing! Unfortunately, the customer service completely ruined the experience. We arrived at 8:00pm. We knew the shop closed at 9:00 PM and were respectful of that. However, the three ladies working near closing were extremely rude and immature. They were giving us dirty looks and talking about us while we were still sitting there. They may have thought we couldn't hear them, but we did. If you're going to work in customer service, kindness and professionalism should still be a priority, even near closing time. Being kind is free. The ice cream was great, but the service left a very disappointing impression. The ice cream shop deserves better customer service. read more

Omg no no no! You can't charge for a gourmet latte and then simply slip a pod in a machine - I came here for hand-crafted not a fancier Keurig. They were also out of drip coffee around 5p. I've been to Café Crèmerie about three or four times to try different desserts. The seating is super limited, with only about four or five small tables, but the interior is stunning and gives major European vibes, especially with the back garden you can see through the window. Honestly, the desserts didn't quite live up to the atmosphere: the red velvet cake and cinnamon roll were dry, the crème brûlée wasn't it, and the tiramisu was just okay. The drink flavor for this month was different in-store (banana) than what was on their website (orange crème), so I was disappointed since that's why I came. This was my first time at Café Crèmerie. I'm usually a big fan of ice cream served in fruit and have tried it at a lot of places, but this one really caught me off guard -- in a bad way. It was super hard and tasted artificial, not fresh at all. I even asked if there was a difference between mine and another one that looked more like pineapple. I politely asked if I could swap it for something else (not a refund), but the woman with pink hair was rude and said I'd have to buy something else entirely. YES YES YES!! Their pistachio cheesecake is legit. From the texture, all the way to the weight of the cheesecake. It was thick and creamy with bits of pistachio nuts, and the flavors wasn't overly sweet but rather very well blended with a main theme of "cheesecake". The crust was also very delicate and not too dry or crusty but it was moist and crumbly. As per request of recommendation from the barista; I got the tiramisu latte and I am not the slightest bit disappointed. I absolutely love it! The sweetness isn't overpowering and the bitterness is just right to create a sort of tiramisu aftertaste. I'd say that the tiramisu adds a cake-like hint of flavor that blends well with the latte. With customer service, it was very easy and chill and overall enjoyable. They were kind and generous with taking my orders. In terms of ambiance, this may just be one of the most memorable cafes I've been too in the USA. It's very beautiful. Sadly, I was a bit in a rush to get my coffee and get to an appointed destination so I didn't take any pictures of the ambiance but I really encourage you to visit this place if you are in town or nearby!
