Very cool place. I mean that literally. When you walk in the door, the temperature dropped 30+ degrees. Which was so welcoming, considering it was hovering around 100 outside. 70's music playing amply throughout. Red vinyl decor, red lights, old Schlitz Beer memorabilia everywhere along with Star Trek posters, figurines. Pinball machines, video game room in the back. Get there early during the week. When the work day is done, it gets busy. We sat at the bar, our bartender was Tabitha. What a sweetheart, she did such a great job, very attentive and friendly. The food was great. We had the Anita bacon dip to start with pita wedges. You must get this. It was so full of flavor and the portion was more than ample to share. Had a side salad, which was cool because you can choose your toppings that you want (salad/pizza toppings), with the red wine vinaigrette was perfect. A standard pepperoni pizza was ordered, which the 12" was very adequate for two people to share. The crust was thin and crunchy, topped very well with lots of cheese and very flavorful. Something you didn't expect. We were very very pleased. Our entire visit was awesome. I never leave yelp reviews, but HELL YES! Beautiful and dark and red inside, looks like if an old school Pizza Hut was in the movie from Dusk til Dawn. If you're vegan and looking for options past 9pm, this is the place. The vegan pizza was awesome and they have several vegan options on the menu I'll be back to try. The staff is awesome, the people running it are friendly, were super informative and helpful when I ordered and just seemed like really cool people. From the moment you walk into Elbow Room, you're greeted with a warm welcome and an incredible nostalgic atmosphere. The vibe is simply amazing--relaxed, fun, and inviting. The music was at the perfect volume: loud enough to enjoy, but not so loud that you couldn't have a conversation. The food was absolutely outstanding. I ordered the Butcher Burger, and it came out hot and fresh. The lettuce was crisp, the ingredients were fresh, and everything was cooked perfectly. I also tried the bacon dip, and it was every bit as good as our server described, served hot, packed with flavor, and impossible to stop eating. I'm not from the area, but I can confidently say I'll be telling everyone I know to stop by when they're in town. Five stars all the way around and absolutely zero regrets. Ok I'm in love with this place!! For one thing I love Star Trek so I fit right. They have Star Trek playing on the TV so this is awesome. The beer is cold and they have lots of excellent choices for local beers and regular beers. We opted for the cheese and bacon dip, a pizza a salad with lots of goodies and a pretzel because or drinking cold beer. The service here is top notch in the music is definitely retro 70s. I don't know if they'll let me move in, but I would like to. Looking forward to some pinball and cold beers this is 11 minutes from my front door and I can honestly say if I had to I would walk here in a hurricane. read more

A better little dive than Pensacola deserves, with a solid kitchen (includes gluten free options!). Has a subtle Star Trek theme, though it's not prevalent enough that I'd want to use the word "theme". Try the Captain Turk sandwich, turkey and apple! Pricing on food and drink quite reasonable. I walk in, dimly lit but cool ambiance, bartender Matt was super friendly and great conversation, pizza was delicious, top 3 best pizza of my life if not THE best. Super rad place. Honestly came here thinking it be a dive bar kind of a place. I found it to be totally retro with an 80's 90's vice kind of a place from era memorabilia including Star Trek theme. I came on a Wednesday when a DJ was mixing some retro music bring back some awesome memories. This place is more like a 3.5 stars but I am rounding up because most of the experience was good. The only "bad" thing was the food. My friends said that the pizza they serve is the best in Pensacola. Well, it was undercooked and seemed like it came from a frozen package when I tried it. My friend said that this was an aberration so I am willing to see past it and maybe come here again. I ordered something called the Porno Dog which is basically a big hot dog (to emulate a huge penis). It really was just that though, a big hot dog--no like special white sauce coming out of the end or something. At least add 2 meat balls or something to make it more phallic. Aside of the food not being that notable, I did like the sleazy-red lighted atmosphere, the jukebox (a dollar gets a good amount of songs), the general layout, the service, cocktail designs, and the overall dive-bar scene. I probably would frequent this place more if I lived closer and was in town longer. Me & the wifey went to The Elbow Room just recently. It's one of those low lighting speak easy with great bar snacks and a nice beer selection. Many delicious Ales on Tap. We started with an appetizer that was the most delicious macaroni cheese I've ever had. I had a pizza and it was sooo delicious! The wifey just had a hotdog and it was pretty big. While visiting a new town, we are always on the lookout for a great dive bar. Elbow Room has to be on my top 5 list of Greatest Dive Bars Ever! You could spend hours looking around at all the tchotchkes that adorn this intimate bar and still discover new things with each visit. We were lucky enough to meet the owner and talk to her about the history of the Elbow Room, which made it even more endearing. What can I say about this place that people don't probably already know? This place is amazing! The staff, the atmosphere, the food was so wonderful. The whole vibe makes you feel like you've been transported to a secret place. And they do Halloween decorations right! We went last night after a Halloween party at Odd Colony (check that place out too if you haven't yet. They're a fantastic brewery) and I was just blown away at how committed they were to the details. Such an amazing place and it has been around for a long time. Ok, there's no getting around the fact that I'm a pizza snob. As much as this is one of the coolest bars around, I wasn't going to set the bar high for the pizza. The only thing that I remembered about it from decades ago was a pre-made shell, which was pretty common in bars around Pensacola when I was a young kid in the 70's (I won't explain why I was ever in a bar as a young child - and also wasn't ever in The Elbow Room at a young age. Different times.) The pizza itself was loaded with toppings, and actually really tasty reminding me of a different style. I guess this could be called Pensacola bar-style pizza, and it's one-of-a-kind. This little dive has the cleanest restrooms of any bar I've ever been to. As my local guide and friend explained it, the customers just have too much respect for the place to deface it. That's saying something. You could eat off the tank, seriously. The ambiance of the bar itself is great. It's very sepia-toned like my favorite restaurant in Columbus. It has an original, old as hell jukebox that only features about 100 songs, and they keep the bar stocked with board games and such to pass the time. The original owner sold it some time back, but the new owners have kept it true...more than I can say for my old neighborhood bar back home. A real gem! read more

This is my one of my favorite places to hangout in Pensacola if you don't want to be on the main street (Palafox st). It's very dark, red lights, geeky-themed (ex: star trek cut outs), and unique. The have a jukebox that plays only classic songs and you get 11 songs for $1. They have many board and card games you can take to your table or to the bar. There's also a few arcade type games. Besides the really relaxing environment- all the food is great. You can order whatever you want on your pizza with the unique toppings they offer. I also love their huge salads and homemade dressings. The bacon/cheese dip is to die for. It's one of those places that you can't really go wrong ordering anything. Just a warning, if you are looking to get drunk or get mixed drinks then don't come here. They only serve beers (limited selection) and champagne type drinks.
