We got the mixed grill, corn dogs for the kids, and the sautéed blue crab claws, which were so good. The staff was great and our waitress was super friendly. Honestly, this was our favorite place on the whole island. There's usually an hour or two-hour wait, but the weather wasn't great that day so we walked right in and only waited about ten minutes, which was awesome. I love this place. Is the wait long? Yes, but grab a seat at the bar and have a couple drinks while you wait. You can't rush a good thing, right? We chilled at the bar, grabbed a couple appetizers and drinks while we waited for a table. We had the crab claws and grouper nuggets, both were super tasty but the grouper nuggets were amazing. After a an hour or so, our table was ready and we were seated on the covered patio. I had the fried shrimp po-boy and we split a whole lobster amongst the table. Peg leg Pete's was super great! We started off with raw and baked oysters, they were both fabulous. Popcorn shrimp was decent. I also had a local beer and it was super good. I didn't catch the name but it was fabulous I had the special which was a red snapper- PHENOMENAL. My husband and FIL had the grouper and my MIL had the blackened chicken salad- they all loved the food. Baby wasn't feeling too great so she didn't really eat but I ordered her pb&j with corn so it's cool they have many options for kiddos. Food is typical tourist quality food for Pensacola Beach. Had a recommended Grouper Supreme Sandwich, bun is low end, cheese tasted cheap, and tasted like something you could buy anywhere. There was about a 40 minute wait so we tried the down stairs area which had immediate seating. This area offered a limited menu; however they had an entire and okay area for children, live music and bay side views. We opted for the oyster sampler and the crab / crab plate. The seafood platter and the gumbo were the best we ever had at a restaurant. The seafood was so fresh and the fish was so big and flaky. The shrimp and scallops, although not the largest, were so fresh and perfectly fried. The parmesan oysters and oyster rockefeller were good but had too much topping. We are used to the grilled parmesan like in Louisiana but these are baked. Personally the oysters were good and didn't need too much done to them. Get on the waitlist before heading there to save you some time! It was packed even at 5pm. I thought it would be a tourist trap but the food was EXCELLENT. I wanted some fresh fish and gumbo and it beat my expectations. The grouper was cooked to perfection and the sauce that goes with it was delish. My daughter got an enormous burger and she ate the whole thing! The spinach artichoke dip was good, but was really salty combined with the salted chips. Solid dinner spot! We came on Sunday at 8pm & it was still a 1.5 to 2 hour wait. The actual wait was about 1.5 hours before we were seated. Our waitress was great, no issues or complaints with service. For food we ordered the fried calamari, spinach dip, scallops, & fried catfish. Food was decent. Calamari was slightly chewy but nothing too unreasonable. I enjoyed the spinach dip & my fried catfish was perfect - very lightly fried & flaky. The fries were stale though & my wife's scallops were a little overcooked, but she said the seasoning & flavor was on point & they give you big portion sizes! I also ordered a bushwhacker with a peanut butter whiskey topper & that was dangerously good! Overall, 4/5! Touristy spot for sure but great beachy ambiance & decent food with good price point. Not worth that wait, though. I heard the oysters here are some of the best, but we were too hesitant to order them since it's not prime oyster season yet. Maybe another time. read more

2025 Updated Review! Peg's is a family favorite. We enjoy the atmosphere out on the deck, and appreciate they offer an air conditioned interior if preferred. The food is always a great value considering the quality and portion sizes, and we appreciate the fast service from the kitchen. If you are visiting our area, this is our top beach family dining recommendation. It is beloved by locals and you will always find a nice collection of interesting, friendly and vocal folks sitting at the bar - both upstairs in the AC and downstairs by the water. Kids will enjoy the playground and getting their toes in the sand while the parents rest nearby. I've attached some pics from a recent meal with the current prices. My kids were encouraged, as toddlers, to try new foods whenever we dined out. Sure, I'll let them have chicken fingers or a cheeseburger (both tasty options here as well) at a seafood place like Peg's if that is what they want, but now I have teenagers on my hands who love the baked oysters here just as much as I do! I find that a shrimp cocktail, a salad, and a delicious piece of fresh local seafood blackened (or bronzed) with sensible sides to be a very healthy dinner and packed with flavor. One tip, use the waitlist function here on Yelp! To save yourself some time in line by checking in before you head for the restaurant. Was happy to learn Peg Legs now has an online waitlist! We were able to walk from our condo, got in within minutes, and of course the food was great. Our server was very knowledgeable about gluten free options and automatically said that the staff changes gloves and avoids cross contamination in the kitchen, which is very impressive.
