The best spot in Glenside for a delicious sandwich and coffee. Staff are always friendly food is always great. The atmosphere is amazing, love that it's right next to septa

Your day can't start without Elcy's coffee

Amazing coffee shop, it has an outstanding resemble of European/South American coffee shop, quiet, amazing scones, very nice selection of coffees and for this summer you can grab a yummy smoothie. Your day can be busy, but first Elcy's!

Live blogging from Elcy's Coffee House: I'm having a hard time with this one, because I really, really want to like it. The owner and staff are so nice, and the coffee and food are great. And it's kinda cute that it's at the train station, so you can hear the whistle whenever it pulls out of the station (I'm a sucker for stuff like that). However, it smells like bacon and they are blasting country music. Random, right? The seating is not comfy (think train station benches) and there is a serious lack of outlets. Some of the tables are even in the same room where you buy your SEPTA tickets. Hmmm...I can't decide whether this is charming or just plain weird. My verdict: not a good place to get some work done (even though there's free wi-fi) but a great place to grab a cup of joe or a smoothie before you go on your way. Carrie E. out...

Great southern-ish breakfast, served by very down to earth pleasant staff…read more I got the Salmon, grits and 2x eggs. Really excellent food, cooked perfectly. I would appreciate a little bit more brightness/acidity, like maybe some lemon wedges or capers, but that's a really minor note and I'm sure not everyone would agree.

I was in the Jenkintown area for work and turned to Yelp to find a local lunch spot--that's when I…read morediscovered Welcome Home Café, and wow, what a powerful little café it turned out to be. As soon as I walked in, I was warmly greeted by one of the owners. It's a husband-and-wife team, which always earns bonus points in my book. I was promptly seated, given a menu, and immediately overwhelmed--in the best way--because everything sounded amazing. I ended up asking the owner for help deciding, and I'm so glad I did. I chose the chicken and dumpling soup (they rotate specialty soups weekly) and a loaded sweet potato. The soup was incredibly flavorful--slightly saltier than my personal preference, but thankfully I tasted it before adding anything. The thyme flavor really stood out and made the dish comforting and delicious. I'd absolutely recommend it if it's available when you visit. The loaded sweet potato was topped with jerk chicken, one of my favorite seasonings. You can adjust the heat, and I went with how it comes--very hot! I loved it. Spicy, bold, and full of flavor, with the sweet potato cooked to perfection. They also offer unsweetened, fresh-brewed iced tea with free refills, which is always a huge plus for me. The café itself is small, but while I was there, there was a steady flow of people coming and going--it's clearly a popular hometown spot. Everything on the menu looked fantastic, so I'll definitely be making a return trip to try something new. They serve both breakfast and lunch, and they also offer catering, which makes this spot even more appealing whether you're stopping in for a quick meal or looking to feed a group. If you're in Jenkintown, I highly recommend stopping by Welcome Home Café. You won't regret it.

First time coming to West Ave Grille after driving and walking by it for many many years…read more Always seemed to hear great things about it, so wanted to see what the hype was really about. Ordered the Cinnamon Swirl Pancakes and TBA Wrap (Turkey, Bacon Avocado). The pancakes were amazing and I loved the crisp edges and how the flavor permeated through all the layers. Really crushed these! The wrap was also good, very fresh and the waffle fries were nice. Overall a great experience and great service and vibes within the restaurant. Only complaint would be it is a little pricey but assume that's due to their playing off their Food Network "fame" maybe. Definitely will still go back to try some more items!

Excellent food. Wait time varies depending on when you go…read more We were first told it would be about 20 mins for a table for two which was fine, we weren't in a rush. The problem is when the hostess shift changed, we seemed to have gotten lost on the waitlist, ended up with a longer wait and had to check-in and it was only then that we were seated. Decor and ambiance is nice, it's inviting, clean and the staff is friendly. I do think they could benefit from additional staff. The waitress who took our order was not who ended up bringing us our meal. It might have been the manager when he noticed we had been waiting a while. I appreciated that it didn't go unnoticed but with this being such a popular brunch spot they could use additional staff. The food was well worth the wait. Pure deliciousness. Grits nice and creamy and lightly seasoned so you can enjoy any additions such as the fried chicken or seafood. The price point is to be expected for the times we are in so that was cool and within reason to me. The only thing I did find slightly unreasonable was that ONE biscuit cost $5! And it was small. Feels like you should at least get two for that price given the small size. It can be hard finding parking even with the paid lots in the area and meter parking on the street but if you ride around long enough you'll find a spot. Even with the few nits I'd say this is a great brunch spot, delicious food and friendly staff. I'll be back!

The waiter Joseph is so kind and he always makes our visit special as regulars. He already knows what we want to eat, and our granddaughter has become so fond of him. I often choose the belly filler and it's enough for me and my three-year-old granddaughter with leftovers to take home. We love our early morning visits there and the jazz music. There was a sign that said GrubHub and delivery services to wait at the door I am not a delivery service. I am an individual who ordered through their website therefore I did not feel like that sign applied to me so when I walked in and stated I was here for a pick up the owner yelled at me to get back to the front door and to wait I went back to the front door and I waited about 10 minutes and then he finally came over and asked me for my name gave me my food. The food was OK. Their link sausages are not good, but the pancakes were pretty good. I decided to try it again because I thought everybody has a bad day and I ordered it again through their website except for whatever reason it didn't go to the one in Chestnut Hill, which is where I live. It went to one way in South Philly. I was not gonna go to South Philly to pick up pancakes. This order came to $98 and some change it was for three people and when I got inside, she said it was at the other one I said OK well can you let them know that I won't be coming to pick that up because it's too far and she said yes I said so you'll cancel the order she said yes I said will I get the money back? She said something to the effect of yes unless it's the order is already complete something like that so she called the other store and she said OK everything's taken care of. I was under the assumption that I would be getting my money back three months later I still haven't got my money back. I still haven't heard from the manager and I will never go there again
