The only reason I give this place 3 stars is because I'm happy with their service department. They are very friendly, Scott really goes the extra mile to help you out. I talked to Austin as well and although young he really impressed me during my last service call. After a not so great experience at a chain place for an oil change I decided to come back to Elder Hyundai for my service. I had left because the oil changes are a pricey and it's not necessarily super close to my home. However I did go back and I'm always pleased with the service department. I have to say it's disheartening to see three reviews about purchasing or leasing a car because I experienced a very similar thing when I was looking to purchase a vehicle or my now 24-year-old son back when he was in his junior year of college. They really do need to work on their sales people to create relationships. There was absolutely no room for any negotiation regarding a new vehicle, or used vehicle for that matter. I also went to Elder looking for a car for me a year earlier and since they are the closest I tried them out and certainly didn't feel valued or like they really cared about selling me a car. This is unfortunate since there's no other Hyundai dealerships close by. I guess the thing that bothered me the most is when I saw two stars on yelp and read the reviews it appears their sales department hasn't changed within the last couple years, so I guess if I have to buy a new Hyundai unfortunately it won't be through Elder. I think the only reason they're still there and why their prices are so high is because they do have a very efficient and talented service department which is something I look for in a dealership. It's unfortunate it's not a well rounded dealership where you get the whole package tied in a nice bow. It's actually shocking how it's like two different worlds from the sales floor to the service department. Kudos to the service department who in my opinion keep that dealership open. read more

The EV charger is $5/kWh plus $5 per minute when most chargers are 50¢/kWh and no time charge. This is abusive of those who may be new to EVs and not realize it will cost hundreds of dollars for a full charge. If they don't want the public to use the charger during the day put a cone in the spot. At night, charge a reasonable fee and maybe get some good customer relations. They seem to prefer being jerks and being vilified on the local news. read more

I don't even know where to begin to describe the bad customer service, subpar performance, and just overall bad experience. So bad, that I called and placed complaint with Hyundai headquarters. I have brand new 2026 Hyundai Tuscon leased. 2K miles in (2 months of driving) and the AC stops working. It is 90 degrees weather for weeks and weeks. The first available time slot they give me to drop off my car is over a week long. I waited a week, drove car for 2 hours back and from work with no AC in 90 degrees weather. Finally, dropped off my car and they took 3 days just to "diagnose" it. Meanwhile, I ask for a loaner car, as I am paying lease on this brand new car, and they told me they had no loaner car to give me. Never once did they call me to update me on the status of my car. I had to call to get any updates. After 5 days they told me they ordered a part and are installing the part next day. 6th day in I call to check and they tell me the part they ordered didn't work and now compressor is broken and they have to replace that. Day 7, no call, no update. I am beyond myself. I called and asked to speak to the manager and girl told me the manager is out on vacation all week. I ask to speak toa supervisor, apparently the supervisor is out to lunch. Hours later, no phone call, nothing. This place is so bad. The corporate needs to shut this place down. Had an appointment for oil change and tire rotation. Waited for over 2 hours. Tire rotation was never done, I have a flaw on 2 of the rims and they were never moved. Paper work showed tire pressure was set at 35 psi. Nope they were still at 32-33. I called and talked to the service advisor and was told to bring it back, not going to happen after I drove over 35 miles and already wasted a few hours for work not performed. Never received a reply to my text or phone message left with the service manager. Another text message to the service adviser and was assured I would receive a refund for work not performed. 6 weeks later and still waiting. I did take the vehicle to a local repair shop, tires were rotated and oil was checked to make sure that oil was fresh. read more

If I could leave a 0 stars or promote them to lose stars I would, went in for a simple oil change remember I had no leaks when I dropped it off then they bring up I have a small leak minor leak in my oil pan a week goes by now my engine is locked up, I take it to my mechanic and he drops plastics and find a bunch of shop towels soaking up all my so called fresh oil, remember this was a weak ago. Just look at pictures I defiantly didn't get a fresh oil change. I stopped at Elder Hyundai to get a simple blower issue checked on my Santa Fe. The fan only works on the highest setting -- a common, easy problem on this model. The advisor was friendly, but the entire exchange felt like a polite way of getting me to leave. I was told it would take 1-3 days just to diagnose and that I'd need to pay over $200 upfront. He also brought up HVAC doors and actuators, even though that has nothing to do with the blower not running on lower speeds. The explanation didn't match the actual symptoms at all, and it felt more like a distraction than real information. Nothing about it came across as an honest attempt to help. It felt like he knew exactly what the issue was but didn't want to touch a small, inexpensive repair -- so I got a friendly story that didn't make sense and a diagnostic price designed to make me walk away. I'm taking my car somewhere else. If you go here, be prepared for nice voices, vague explanations, and "diagnostics" that don't line up with reality. Is there an option for negative stars? I leased a new Tucson from this dealership back in 2023 and it was the best car lease/purchase experience I ever had. So, I was excited when it came time to turn my '23 vehicle in and work up a new lease. The salesperson I worked with in '23 is no longer at this dealership (I can see why). I was assigned to a new salesperson and made an appointment. I made a list of vehicles that mildly interested me from their online inventory. He never looked at it. He kept looking at his monitor while talking to me. I asked about the Santa Cruz, and he told me that I didn't want one. I took a test ride in a '25 Tucson around the lot with the salesperson driving, but I didn't like the color. He ended the appointment by handing me a card and suggesting I give him a call if I needed anything. I didn't hear from him for 2 weeks even though I sent multiple emails asking for pricing on a specific vehicle. I got an email from the general manager asking how the leasing process was going. I replied with my concerns about lack of salesperson response. He dealt with it by forwarding my email to the salesperson, who basically said I was lying. I again asked for pricing on 2 specific vehicles. I never got a response. Long story, after a month of no response I visited a Hyundai dealership in Troy and worked up a new deal in less than an hour and had my new '26 Tucson two days later. It's too bad, because I really liked the service staff at Elder and they are much closer to me than the Troy dealership, but the apathy at Elder was too much. read more

Horrible customer service on the used car side of things. I found a vehicle online and went there to check it out. It was almost as if I was doing them a favor by being there. They did not seem motivated at all to help me. I was the one that started pricing negotiations and got it to where I was happy with. When I returned to pick up the vehicle, it was missing the floor mats. The vehicle was meticulously kept, but they told me that it they were probably destroyed and tossed out when the car was turned in. There's no way possible! They then told me essentially that it was too bad and laughed saying I signed a paper saying that I was purchasing it as is and they would not give me anything to compensate for the missing mats. A mile down the road we noticed that the tank was on empty and we had to stop and fill it with gas. Now a month and a half later they are essentially holding my plate hostage and I've had to chase them for the past two weeks after they indicated it was there. I live 45 minutes away and they told me they would mail it to me. After a discussion with them on May 19, they told me that it was sent out and it should be at my house on May 20. They provided a tracking number and when I looked it up, they did not in fact send it on the 19th but sent it out on the evening of the 20th. I do not recommend this place at all unless you wanna do all the work and have them earn the commission. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. The business manager Denny Ravac is a complete liar! If you have to deal with him run the opposite direction. I went looking for a vehicle as a first time buyer at Elder Hyundai. My initial interaction was with the Business Manager Denny Ravac then salesperson Christopher Person. I explained to both individuals how I was looking to finance a used vehicle to replace my current vehicle because it had issues before it completely went down. I did not plan on trading the vehicle in. I told them how I went to another dealership, and was approved however I did not like how I was treated by the salesperson so I decided to not work with them any longer, then how that dealership ran my credit several times again after telling them I no longer wanted to work with them. I expressed to Denny that I just wanted to look around and see about a vehicle I liked after telling them what I wanted in the vehicle he suggested a 2021 Tucson. I was willing to try this vehicle, but was not too sure. He stated since it was coming in and in the process of being certified and had not been in the system long I might qualify for it faster. I expressed to him that I did not want to run my credit until I knew I loved the vehicle after the test drive. He assured me we would not be doing that until I had all of my documentation in as well for my jobs. BOY WAS I WRONG! I never ended up sending the documents because they didn't have the vehicle I wanted any longer and I wasn't interested in the Tucson (which I was never able to test drive at their dealership, i ended up having to go to another Hyundai dealer). A few weeks later I get a letter about my credit application that I never approved of them to run. Lucky for me I was able to get the vehicle I wanted from another dealership, but after contacting Chris about the issue I got no response. Then contacting Denny and he basically said we never had that discussion and he never talked to me. I would steer clear of this dealership and their lies, Denny specifically. However, I will take responsibility for believing and trusting in them to do the right thing by a potential customer. I should've never provided them with any documents at all. So we quickly purchased a used 2012 Chevy equinox for $9,000 at Elder Hyundai Macomb on Hall Road in Michigan on Monday the 16th October 2023. I also purchased aftermarket warranty coverage through car shield that will cost us nearly $2,000 and doesn't kick in for 250 mi and 40 days. The dealership tried pushing one on us for close to $3,000. We clearly understand what an "as is" sale means, however, My brother and I drove it home to Hamtramck and the change oil light came on. I started texting the salesman immediately. Our salesman told us that they had changed the oil and probably forgot to reset it but that's their job not ours. He kept hemming and hawing for us to get it figured out ourselves. I have 4 days worth of texts to share with all of you on how I kept asking literally begging for them to take the vehicle in. A day later an O2 sensor light started and now the check engine light is on constantly. I continued to text them pleading to give us a solution and let us bring in the car. They refused and kept skirting the issue. I asked for the owner to give me a call and today is Saturday the 21st and I have still not received any call. Whoever you are, you have no balls. You are a coward and you have taken advantage of a cancer patient who has a limited amount of time on this planet. Shame on you. Your customer service sucks and no one should purchase vehicles from you ever. I'm still waiting for that phone call. It's amazing how quickly you took our cashier's check and sent us on our way. We are going to have to have things fixed already even before the first week of ownership and you should pay for it as our available funds are extremely limited. This is a cancer patient. For all of this grief you have caused, he should get a brand new car from you and you can take this old one back! Recently received marketing email May 10, 2022 asking to text for trade in value and that they will offer up to $1000 over Black Book. I texted their number on May 15, 2022; it asked for the VIN of my 2020 Hyundai Palisade Limited AWD in excellent condition. It returned a value of $40,040 to $45,910. When we went to the dealership today May 16, 2022, they stated they would only offer $38,000 even though it is in excellent condition and 39,000 miles. When I asked if he could find another vehicle at different dealership he said he couldn't without a deposit. I've worked at a car dealership before... This is completely untrue. Also asked if there was any kind of lease turn in fee if I don't re-lease with them... He said no. Also untrue. You'd think they would at least be knowledgeable. Went to turn in the lease and was told I HAD to come between 10-4 because there is only one guy who does it. And that they'd walk through the vehicle. Got there and they just asked for the keys. Extremely disappointed and angry at Elder Hyundai. I needed to get my car fixed after a collision so I called in to their services center. They transferred me to a collisions center. Little did I know that Elder Hyundai didn't have a collision center so they transferred me over to Elder Ford IN TROY and didn't let me know. So I drove over to Elder Hyundai expecting there to be a collisions center there, which there wasn't. Ok that's fine, but why didn't you tell me beforehand when I was on the phone? So after finding that out, I asked where I could find an Elder collisions center, and in the most matter-of-fact and uncaring voice I've heard in my life, the guy at the front desk of the services center said that there's one in Elder Ford of Troy and Elder Ford of Romeo. That in itself pissed me off, but grudgingly I drove to Elder Ford of Romeo 20 minutes away. And GUESS WHAT? There's no collisions center there either! Ridiculous! I took the guy's word for it, and he straight up gave me misinformation. I called Elder Hyundai again in the Elder Ford of Romeo parking lot, and asked them what the hell is going on, and they were so sure that Elder Ford of Romeo had a collisions center, and so they transferred me over to Elder Ford of Troy for whatever reason. The people over at Troy confirmed that Troy is the only location from Elder that had a collisions center, and they had no idea why Elder Hyundai wouldn't know that basic information. These guys wasted over an hour of my time because of misinformation that they INSISTED was right, all while looking like they didn't care at all. Customer service was always awful in the past, too. Whenever I call them and they don't pick up, they never give me a call back, either. I ended up going to Lakeside Collisions and their service was fantastic. Now my lease is up, charging $400.00 turn in fee, $120.00 overmileage, haven't driven the car in over 2 months but I still had to keep my full coverage insurance on it even if I brought it back 2 months early. I had an appointment for my car at 11 am here on 11-18-22, I was told I would get a call back to let me know what time to pick it up. When I arrived at 10:45 they told me it would not be ready today (all I needed is an oil change and an alignment before our big move across the country). I said no absolutely not we leave tomorrow so I need it today that's why I made the appointment and this was the soonest that they could get me in. It's now 2:25 pm and I called them at 12:45 (after they said they would call and did not), I asked for an estimate on the time and the guy was not friendly at all, and was more concerned about who took care of me this morning, which was nothing to do with what I called about I just need an estimate. He said that the supervisor was going to call me in a couple minutes since he was with a customer at the moment, it's been almost 2 hours with nothing. No updates, nothing. I called and received no information on what's going on and the guy couldn't even find my appointment in the system when i called and tried telling me they don't have my car, when indeed they do still have my car and keys. This is ridiculous. It is not my problem you were too busy. You guys are "experienced" and book too many appointments and then don't get everything done. That is not my fault or problem. I went here this time because I didn't want to drive to Troy since this location is closest to me. I'm very disappointed with the service and even if I was not moving across the country, I would not be coming back to this location ever. Terrible customer service and now I have no idea what's going on with my car. He also told me this morning in person that he wasn't going to be able to do an alignment. That's the whole point of the appointment is for an oil change and tire alignment before I drive to California. I have yet to purchase a product (car) or service from this dealership. A bit frustrating considering it is conveniently located for me, on the way to/from work. First, I stopped by to look at a car to buy January 2017 (at their previous location). Incredibly, I spent 15 minutes looking at vehicles on the lot AND in the showroom without a single salesman who acknowledged me or even attempted to ask me anything (there were 3-4 salesmen around, 2 with other customers). That cost them two vehicle purchases (bought at Suburban Hyundai January and March 2017). Still, it was conveniently located and they just relocated in Macomb and I received a mailer advertising "quick and fast oil changes with no appointment needed" Monday through Saturday. Saturday hours noted to be 8am to 1pm. I purchased a prepaid oil change package for one vehicle so drove down on Saturday for the oil change since it was due. I arrived at 12:30 and the service adviser said "we are closed" like I should know better. Then said their last appointment is at noon. ????? I mentioned the mailer and he basically said "I have no control over that" (which I agree but at least he could acknowledge their error). Wanted to question the last appointment at noon even though they advertise 1pm close on the mailer and their posted service ours on the door, but decided it was not worth the hassle because it won't make a difference (even if closing with enough time for the service, why is it 60min for a quick and fast oil change?). I needed the oil change so drove down the street and paid for oil change at Valvoline (I know, the pre-pay was wasted $). Got oil change AND car wash all under 30 minutes! Anyhow, love my Hyundais (Santa Fe Sport and Sonata Limited) but probably never return here unless they give me a good reason to try. read more

Test drove it, talked about it, were ready to buy when the manager informed us that the vehicle was not certified after all. Bait and switch tactics. You give used car dealerships a bad name. They said, oops, sorry! We need to take that "certified" label off of the internet listings. Well, guess what? I drive a Hyundai Accent because it's a inexpensive car. $93 for an oil change and tire balance just seems way to expensive. However, the service consultant Scott is great to do business with. Came to purchase a used car and the experience was nearly as painful as I could imagine. Unfortunately I wanted the car so I had to continue through the process. Joe was our sales person, and he let us take the car for a test drive. He was mostly uncommunicative, though did return a few calls after a while. No information was provided on the vehicle being purchased, and the price negotiation was slow and uninformative. When we came to pick up the car to close the deal, I called ahead to schedule a time and brought all required paperwork. Cash deal, no loan. I waited nearly an hour with barely an acknowledgement. Was offered a coffee in the sparse waiting area. Waited over 90 minutes before the paperwork was prepared. Would have walked out if I didn't have the checks in hand. The business manger did try to salvage the situation but it was unfortunately over a 2 hour debacle just to get things started to where they should have been when we arrived.
