That's correct, "As good as it gets." Eldercare Services has been providing home care for my 91 year old "cantankerous", otherwise known as hard-headed, mother for 9 months and what a great help they've been. Being responsible for mom's well-being, she's diagnosed with dementia, I'm her legal conservator, is a challenge. I'm anything but an expert in geriatric care. I've learned a lot from the Care Givers and Care Manager. They provide the "heavy lifting" for working with my mom and I'm able to relax and enjoy my time with her. The Care Givers are AWESOME. They are women who care, care and continue to care about mom. They are my eyes and ears so I learn what's going on with mom from them. They take mom to all of her appointments and activities. The do exercises, prescribed by her Dr, with her. They go for a 3/4 mi walk virtually everyday. They prepare wonderful, healthy meals for her lunch and dinner. They bath her and make sure she's looking her best. They do some light house work and water the annuals and vegetables I plant. My mom likes them a lot and speaks fondly of them to me. Here's an example of helping mom over come a health related problem. Mom had a problem with elevated creatinine levels most likely because didn't have enough water in her system. She complained that she didn't want to go to the bathroom. I think she was experiencing "accidents" by not going to bathroom quick enough. The Care Givers solved this problem. There is a glass of water in every room of mom's house. They remind mom to drink some water regularly AND they "make" her go to the bathroom every 2 hours. My mom does all of this on her own now and her creatinine levels have decreased a little bit! The Care Manager is a great coordinator of mom's care with me, the Care Givers and other resources such as Doctors and the programs she has gotten mom involved with. The programs get mom out of the house, alleviating her boredom and increasing her socialization. The Care Givers take her to those programs and take care of chores, like shopping, during the time mom is in the group. We work closely on improving mon's care and well-being. The Care Manager is a wealth of knowledge and has provided suggestions on numerous issues I faced managing mom's well-being. The Care Manager's training as an RN has helped with mom's medical needs when she was exhibiting symptoms of possible health related problems. We, the Care Givers, Care Manager and myself are a great team and as such are improving the quality of life for mom. Mom's well-being is BETTER than when she was living on her own! read more

Although the initial intake went extremely well the service that followed was substandard. The person working on my mother's Medicaid Application often asked for documents at the last minute that required time to be retrieved as they were not available online, she miscalculated the amount for the pre-funeral costs which resulted in a bank overdraft, and she could not recall if a document essential to the application was sent for the review. Eventually my mother's application was approved, but 4 months later we received a penalty notice which stopped the Medicaid payments for 6 1/2 months. When I first sent the notice to the worker she thought it was just a routine form letter until the nursing home confirmed that it was not. After paying all of the money to the company I no longer have confidence that they are Medicaid experts and have needed to spend more money to hire an Elder Care Certified Attorney to file the appeal. It seems that it would be much better to hire Certified Elder Care Law Firms in your state rather than a nationwide organization that has paraprofessionals handling such important matter. read more

I needed 24-hour care for a few months while in recovery from a major operation. Eldercare provided the support required. The firm's office was easy to deal with and responded quickly to my needs. The aides they sent were attentive and capable. I want to note two Eldercare employees who provided the bulk of my support: Blaise Yves and Shakeera Duncan. They were excellent. Always available without being intrusive, their effectiveness were a big part of my pot-op rehab. Highly recommended. read more

Hmmm... For some reason, my wife's review also disappeared. I wanted to repost what she had to say as a warning to others. We hired Eldercare to provide in home services to my mother in law, who was suffering from Parkinson's Disease. The home health workers helped themselves to a significant amount of food. One of them accepted a "gift" from my mother-in-law of jewelry, which I had concerns about because she was not in a right state of mind. One would think the company would have policies against this sort of thing. One of them referred to my mother-in-law as "crazy" - not a very professional communications style. I would recommend choosing a different service to care for your elderly relative, as I feel this company is not trustworthy, in a business where they need to be above reproach. In response to Linda F's comment below: I appreciate the fact that you are now concerned about this. Perhaps you now better screen your employees and perhaps you now have firm policies against employees accepting gifts. However, I stand by the facts as I lay them out above. My situation arose three years ago, so perhaps things have improved, but caveat emptor. read more

Our family has used Eldercare services multiple times in the last few years. The care was fantastic! The last time was a nightmare. My review is based on our last experience. My father was dying, he wanted a woman caregiver. Our family called Eldercare many times with high expectations seeking a woman's care for my father. They could not provide my father's final wish. They only sent male caregivers out. It cost nearly $5,000 to care for my dad, with a caregiver he did not want. It makes me sick to my stomach when I think about it. read more

We have used Eldercare Services Care Mgt Services for over a year now and are extremely satisfied. We work with Chris Rose-Franks, an extremely competent and insightful care manager, and have found the other care managers who have filled in for Chris when she's on vacation to be of high quality as well. We are a family where it has not been easy coordinating care for our father with advanced Parkinsons, with two of the four family members distant or out of state with the resulting difficult family dynamics. Beside managing our father's immediate needs Chris is extremely sensitive to the family dynamics, and has handled those dynamics deftly. These professional services are not cheap, but I can't say how much time and angst Chris has saved us from. That has been well worth the price. I'm not sure where these few negative reviews come from. There have been no surprises on our bills and Chris has kept a sharp pencil on our behalf. Do not use this Eldercare. We used this faciltiy for 30 days and I would never recommend them. The women they sent to care for my mother ate our family out of house and home, and the nurses called my mother "crazy" when she was suffering from Parkinson's diease. Outstanding Results! As a Financial Planner I get involved with my clients far beyond investments and planning. It is very important for me to have a strong network of professionals outside of my skill set. I have a client that has sole responsibility for caring for his adult disabled sister. Her cancer had just returned and at the same time he was told she could no longer stay at her current care facility as her mental care needs have now exceeded their limits. I had been following her circumstances and frequently called (call him Bob) my client to see how she was doing. One day Bob, who is in his 60'salled me and was very distraught. He didn't know where to turn. His sister's care needs had reached his capacity. He needed to arrange her surgery, post surgery care and arrange transportation for her follow up radiation. At the same time her care facility was demanding she move. I insisted he call Lori Luckenbach at Eldercare Services. I told Bob to follow her instructions and meet with the people she lines up. A week later, a totally different, and tearful call from Bob: Kirk, they can do everything. All the things I've worried about for years, they can handle for me. Beyond that there is extra security around Bob's biggest fear. If he were to pass before his sister there will be a team that knows his sister and can continue oversight in his absence. Finding a good company to ensure your loved ones are well taken care of is one of the most important choices you'll make in life. I think we made the right choice with Eldercare services for my aunt Emilia. Ever since her husband passed she has had no one to turn to for anything (since all our family is located in So CAL), so it was between relocating her to so cal (which she adamantly refused to do) or finding a good company we could trust. It wasn't an easy task as we tried out another company that unfortunately did not work out. The biggest obstacle after our last company was finding the right match for my aunty. Being that I live in LA I couldn't take a week off work to go up and interview all the different services. Thank goodness a good friend of mine recommended Eldercare, and when I contacted them they were incredibly kind, articulate and prepared to answer all my questions on the spot. We have been with Eldercare Services for over a year now and my aunty is very pleased, which makes us all very happy. I have gone to visit her several times in the last year and she has nothing but great things to say about her caregiver. She does everything with her, and I am happy to know she has a companion to share stories with, play games, go on walks, and she even takes her grocery shopping. Care and attention like this is priceless. Ultimately, you have to be very careful when hiring a company that will be pretty mich taking care of an elder, It's almost like hiring a babysitter. I have high expectations and zero tolerance for unprofessional or unfriendly behavior especially when it comes to the treatment of an elder member in our family. The presenter was so professional and geared the presentation to the audience. It was very informational and did not come across as a sales pitch at all. My experience with Eldercare was excellent! For the past two years, my aunt in Walnut Creek needed 24-hour in-home care and we live out-of-state. Since we were not close by, we required a local organization that could provide a full range of care services, from management, to in-home care, to scheduling of and transportation to doctors appointments, to emergency care during hospital visits, to end-of-life care. Eldercare not only understood what was needed, but was always available to provide the assistance necessary for the complete care of our aunt. They thought ahead, making recommendations for ongoing services, additional medical equipment and finally, hospice care, before the need became critical. Nancy C. did an excellent job of managing and coordinating the care my aunt received. Every time my aunt went to the hospital, Eldercare immediately called to notify me of the situatiun, no matter the time of day or night. While in the hospital, her caregivers remained with her throughout the entire stay - she was never left alone. Regular doctors appointments were scheduled and transportation was provided or arranged. As she began her end-of-life decline, the Eldercare team understood where and when she needed additional services and her caregivers provided her comfort and loving care, just as if she was their own family member. I highly recommend Eldercare. They made the past two years very manageable for our family, knowing that our aunt was receiving great care when we were not available to be there with her. Most importantly, my aunt was treated with great care and respect in the final two years of her life. These people do a pretty good job, but, the big caveat is that you have to pay and pay, and pay---so watch out! It is like hiring a lawyer and they charge for their advice by the hour, approx $130 per hour so in phone calls this can add up real fast! Try ombudsman services first, and other county or Kaiser social service agencies first. My family had a monumentally bad experience with Eldercare Services. A morning phone call to Elder Care services and they were very quick to send out a representative. An hour or so later Brenda came out to meet our family, quite quickly. She assured us Elder Care Services are perfect for my parents, and she was quick to have my father and mother sign all of her contractual forms so work could begin immediately. She told us she would have a worker assigned soon. Days after our meeting, Brenda emailed my father, my sister, and me, and let us know a worker would be starting at my parent's home, Monday the 14th at 10am. This person, who we had not met and whom she had not identified, would arrive today at 10am and then come back on Wednesday and Friday of the week from 10am to 2pm, and Brenda would visit my parents on Wednesday the 16th to find out how things are going - if this caseworker is a good match. I then worked hard to convince my parents over the weekend how great Eldercare is going to be, as my parents were wary of having a stranger in their home. No caregiver ever showed up as Brenda had told all of us someone would at 10am. No one called my parents. I immediately called Eldercare Services. Brenda, I was told, was unavailable, and they needed some time to look up my parents name and case. They told me they would call back. Some woman named Sandy then called me back and let me know they had screwed up, and as they don't communicate directly with the hired in-home caregivers, somehow this caregiver, a women who lives in Brentwood, was assigned to my parent's case, but was told to cancel her Monday appointment with them at 10am. We still don't know how or why this happened. No one told us anything. As you can imagine, I was extremely upset. I was not able to speak with Brenda, I was told, because she was teaching a class. Sandy then told me she had contacted the caregiver in Brentwood, and she would be two hours late. My parents was unsure and upset. This agency stinks, I'm completely unimpressed. So please, take this information and use it as you see fit, I DO NOT recommend Eldercare services, they just want money and they don't care about the families and their concerns. read more

Eldercare has been helping take care of my elderly mom for almost a year now. Their service and employees are wonderful. For about the first six months while my mom was living alone, in Rossmoor, a caregiver would come to her apartment 2 twice a week. The caregivers, particularly Silvia were extremely kind and helpful. Silvia and my mom always looked forward to their visits and they became friends. Silvia was always helpful getting my mom to the grocery store, taking her shopping etc. In April, because of her deteriorating mental and physical health, my mom moved into a managed care facility in Moraga. Silvia has continued to see her twice a week and my mom enjoys her visits. Sylvia is able to take on outings to coffee shops, etc, that my mom would probably not otherwise enjoy. Silvia is always very warm and reliable and helpful. After my mom's move to the managed care facility, I've also been having one of their Care Managers, Katie, help me with managing all my mom's medical appointments, pharmacy refills, etc. and in general lining up all her outside medical care. This additional service is rather pricey, but you get what you pay for. Katie has been outstanding in her professionalism, knowledge, and attention to detail and communication. I don't know how I would have managed to keep track of all my mom's medical as well as financial affairs without her. I'm the only family my mom has in the Bay Area, and don't have any help besides Eldercare in managing her outside affairs. I found Eldercare through a recommendation from one of my own doctors who utilized their Case Management service (although it was someone besides Katie) and was equally pleased. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. Their caregiver hourly rates are less than $30 which seems quite in line with other companies (we tried one other but they weren't nearly as good). The Case Worker service is more of a consultant role who and not hands on patient care, with rates to match (well over $100/hour) but as I said, you get what you pay for. We recently used ElderCare for my parents who are in their late 80s. We started with one person part time three days a week, then when mom fell, we extended to 5 days a week adding a second lady and then extended hours. We recently hired someone for 24 hour care but I cannot say enough positive things about ElderCare. It really comes down to the people and from the care managers to the care givers, everyone was great. They did a fantastic job and provided great care for my parents and peace of mind for me. read more

How to speak to your elder about what is going on, support through the most difficult times - rehab, assisted living, doctor's appointments, hospice, death. I have no idea what we would have done without Gillian our care manager who brought so much experience with her, or with Chris who visited with my aunt & uncle weekly even though we are just minutes away and visit 3+ times / week. I love Eldercare! I went to this company as soon as my mother's health began declining, and she needed a caregiver. When I called, it was a great first interaction that only went up from there! I spoke to a lovely lady who helped provide me with all the information I needed, and eased my rising nerves about my mother. She helped me set up a meeting with my mother and what would be our new care supervisor. We figured out a good schedule, and the next week, when our caregiver was scheduled to come, she was right on time and my mother loved her! She went on about how nice she was, how good of a cook she was, and loved having her company for the day. When we had our follow up with the care manager, we were happy to report that we absolutely love our caregiver and my mother is incredibly happy. Well done! Horrible company. Dishonest management who takes advantages of adult children who live out of the area. Charged me $120 per hour to go grocery shopping for my elderly parent. This company is all about getting as much money as they can out of you and giving nothing in return. When I tried to cap their hours, they had a fit and said that was not possible, that they decided how many hours they would visit my parent per month. At $120 per hour? I don't think so. At the end of the month I was presented with a $6000 invoice for horrible service with unhappy care givers. Stay away. read more

My wife and I learned of Eldercare Services in the Rossmoor News. On 7/8/19 we registered (on-line) for a class on Dementia, to occur 7/10/19 at 5:30PM-7:00PM at their offices at 1808 Tice Valley Blvd. Walnut Creek CA. We received an immediate on-line confirmation of our registration, including directions to their offices. When we arrived at 5:25PM on the 10th, it was obvious that the office was not open. We called the phone number on the door and another number from their website. In both cases, the responder claimed no knowledge of the situation, but she promised a return call from a representative; that never happened. I wrote an email to Eldercare Services from home later that evening complaining of non-professionalism. By the end of the day 7/11/19 we have heard nothing from this company. (It is possible that the class was rescheduled, but no one from the organization has informed us of that, or offered an apology.) Despite this company's apparent licensed status and Joint Commission approval, I would not recommend any senior seek their help. read more

We have found that Eldercare's home care services (for my grandma) are reliable and their caregivers are professional, kind and very supportive. The caregiver support group helps my family to process things and it brings us comfort during sometimes difficult and/or sad times. I would definitely recommend their services. I reached out to Eldercare Services in 2011, when my best friends passed away tragically in an accident, leaving their 21 year old autistic son (Leo), in my care. For the past 3+ years, Eldercare services has not only been a lifesaver (literally), but they have become a part of our family. They have helped enable Leo to be self sufficient, extended their helping hand with daily chores, cooking, cleaning, and overall true friendship and companionship. They report back to me how he is doing, when he is having good days, bad days, allowing me to peacefully work and live my life, knowing he is in great hands. Without their service, I am afraid of where Leo and myself would be and how he would develop. I am so very grateful for all they have done, and continue to do for our family. They took the worry out of moving her closer to me after her fall and hospitalization. They have excellent caregivers, one who saved her life by recognizing the signs of a stroke even when her facility staff did not notice! If you are looking for professionals to assist you in making good decisions for a loved one which are the best for that aging parent and that are economically good decisions as well then choose Eldercare. My mother who suffers from a variety of ailments including refers to her Care Manager as the one with the sparkling eyes and smile and her caregiver as the only "friend" she has never disagreed with. read more

Eldercare Services provided support, advice and in-home services in a calm and comforting way. And they were amazing at keeping me grounded and focused. At 91 years old my father is a handful for anyone and needs 24 X 7 in home services. I live out-of-state and can't be in his home to provide the daily support he needs. The Eldercare staff provide health care support services just like they were members of the family. Eldercare Services makes sure my father gets daily exercise with short trips to the mall and parks, lunch at local dinners, as well as taking him to his medical appointments and providing home cooked meals. They have provided an outstanding staff and I trust their staff to provide reliable day-to-day care and supervision for my father. read more

I wrote a review several months ago and my review is not here anymore. All of the negative reviews seem to be staying but all the positive reviews are being removed? Eldercare Services saved our lives in my opinion with my 87 year old Mother-in-Law and her issues with aging, dementia, a stroke, moving from her house into a facility, a move within the facility and all of it managed by a Geriatric Care Manager who also supervises her caregivers. The Care management comes at a cost but so does an attorney or an accountant, I certainly would not go to court without an attorney I am not going to try to deal with these difficult aging issues without a Care Manager. We engaged Eldercare to help our 95 year old father care for his wife who is declining with serious dementia and many physical problems. Overall we have been very pleased both with the home care providers and the Geriatric Care Manager. The care givers have been patient and helpful; the only complaint is that there has been more turnover than would have been ideal but the coverage was always reliable. The Care Manager volunteered to accompany them on several medical appointments, which was useful because Dad is hard of hearing and his wife is quite confused. We also received helpful information from her on hospital billing, medical transport and respite care. Eldercare is not cheap but the integration and quality of the service is worth the cost. They have been a real life safer this past year. read more

Eldercare has truly been the answer for my parents who have had issues with their own individually selected helpers. Eldercare is caring, businesslike, and can readily adjust when requested. They have provided the guidance to my parents about medication reminders and arranged for grab bar installation in the shower. My parents want to stay in their home and are healthy enough to do so. Eldercare makes that possible. The only minor issue I have had is that some of the caregivers think my parents are worse off than they are. There has been a period where we had to adjust givers and expectations. I think we are on track now though. read more
