Stayed at the hotel for five days. Service was excellent atmosphere clean and spacious. Completely in love with their cauliflower appetizer. Was so savory felt like I was eating Buffalo strips. Had a salad that was fresh and delicious. Had 2 different paste dishes both were perfectly flavored.

Dinner at the Eldridge Grille was amazing! Mark Jones, the new Executive Chef, is an artist. The layers of flavor in each dish is what I enjoyed the most. With each bite I tasted another aspect of the dish. The scallops were delightful! I had the short ribs, which were tender and full of flavor. The smashed potatoes I could eat all night. And be sure to end with the Banana Bread Pudding. Everything we tasted was awesome. Truly a wonderful experience!

The food is okay, the service is good. The drinks are also really great but overpriced. But the real kicker is how there is no mask enforcement among their customers in the midst of a pandemic and a statewide mask mandate

An impressive wine list, I chose a cab from the menu.

While in Lawrence for our sons KU orientation, we had a very nice dining experience at this historical gem of an establishment! During the week, reservations were a breeze and staff was very friendly and prompt. We all enjoyed the Brussel Sprout Chips, Beet Salad, 8oz. Filet and stuffed chicken. Highly recommend, if in town!

Fantastic food, great service and ambiance. New chef Mark Jones has really elevated the menu and added some great new dishes. We enjoyed our Brussel Sprouts, the Carbonara had yummy crispy pancetta and the Bolognese was also good. Finished the meal with chocolate mousse with strawberry coulis with allspice topped with coriander whipped cream and nuts. Lovely taste explosion in your mouth with a great finish. Will definitely be back to dine again!

DO NOT COME HERE. This is my third time being here within the last 6 months. Not sure why I keep coming. Never again though! We were only one of two tables when we ordered and we waited over an hour for our food and almost closed our ticket and left. Our server, Drew, was attentive and great. He agreed that our food was taking a ridiculous amount of time and was very apologetic. He was frustrated as well. Food..."There are two tickets ahead of yours right now" an hour later. And we were the second table in the whole place. Then, my eggs Benedict came with one hard boiled egg and one egg just completely uncooked. So overall, food wasn't worth it or that great either.

If you want a trash can martini that takes 25 minutes to make, you've found your destination.

This includes of course the history of Lawrence and how influential this building has been over time. Since I've been in Lawrence (which is about 10 years now which is so nuts) this has been Merchants. I love Merchants. It's consistently (to me) a top 3 restaurant on Mass St. The food is high quality. The service is high quality. The chefs table is a vibe (idk if they still have it but they did a few years ago). Anyway, the duck and dumplings was so comforting. It was the perfect ratio of duck to dumpling to vegetable to broth. The bison burger always slaps and the fries are so yummy. Dare I say they have the best burger in town? Also you guys have the BEST Diet Coke. So good and crispy. I love you Merchants! Also sitting next to the window and looking out to the twinkle lights on mass was so dreamy.

The restaurant itself is beautiful inside -- a cozy mix of rustic and modern that creates a really inviting atmosphere. Service started a little slow, though our waitress became more attentive once she came by. We mentioned it was our first visit, so I was a bit surprised there wasn't much guidance on the menu or any recommendations. At one point I asked about the two kinds of fries (I love fries!), and the explanation was simply that they were "fancy fries," without much detail on flavors or differences. We started with drinks and the Brussels sprouts appetizer. The sprouts were actually very good, with a nice balance in the sauce, and both the wine and sangria were refreshing. Unfortunately, dinner is where things went downhill. Our meals -- a steak and a gluten-free chicken sandwich -- took about 45 minutes to arrive, which felt long for relatively simple dishes. I had asked about the gluten-free bun since they can sometimes be dry, but didn't receive much insight beyond "it's gluten free," and sadly it was indeed very dry. The chicken itself lacked flavor, though the goat cheese cilantro sauce helped make it somewhat enjoyable. The fries looked homemade and delicious but arrived cold. The steak was cooked as requested, but it didn't have much flavor beyond the mushrooms on top. The broccoli side was tasty, and the potatoes were good, though it on a bed of Some kind of cheese sauce that wasn't quite to our liking. Overall, the space and gluten-free availability were promising, and the appetizers and drinks were enjoyable, but the food execution and service details didn't quite meet expectations for us this visit.

The vibe was fun and inviting, and it looks like they've carried over the magic from their super popular Christmas pop-up into a fresh, spring-inspired theme. It adds a really playful, seasonal touch without feeling overdone. What really made the visit stand out, though, was the service. Our waitress was fantastic--super friendly, attentive without hovering, and offered great suggestions that we actually ended up loving. Tip: Get a basket of French fries for the table! Overall, it's one of those spots that works for just about anything--family outings, catching a game, bigger group gatherings, or even a more low-key, intimate meal. Great atmosphere, great service, and a place we'll definitely be back to.
