Enjoying a tasting at Aaron Wines is a unique experience you rarely find in my experience in Paso…read moreRobles. This was also the first time I had ventured to Tin City for a tasting, usually opting for something east off 46 or a winery in the hills west of downtown. Not to be forgotten a lot of good wine off west 46 too! I ventured into the tasting room on a Monday, early afternoon, knowing the tasting room was open (11am-5:30pm, daily). I had looked the website over as to their offerings, but didn't know what the tasting were. I was excited to see Sirah and petite Syrah as varietals, especially Sand & Stone, that included 40% Grenache (a favorite of mine). The tasting line up featured a 2023 Pinot Noir, 2023 Reserve Pinot Noir, but from the Aequeoea (Latin for Of. The. Sea.) Followed the by Aaron brand: 2023 Sand & Stone, 2022 Citizen and a 2023 Petite Sirah. The Pinots were excellent, delicious over the palate with nice balance and structure thanks to the SLO Coast AVA grapes. However, I skipped over those a bit quick, knowing my girlfriend isn't the biggest Pinot fan, opting to pay closer attention to the Aaron brand. I was not disappointed. Take nothing away from the fantastic Pinots, I loved the Sand and Stone, the bright fruit, spice and structure marries very well with the Sirah and Petite Syrah. I had to inquire about the Graciano. Gibson, behind the bar pouring told me the story of how this varietal came about, sort of a mistake for Mourvedre. It was an interesting piece of information. Pleased with the red blend called Citizen, I finished with the 100% Petite Syrah, blended from a combination of barrels to create their flagship wine. I did revisit Sand & Stone, as the Grenache notes have been a favorite of mine since being introduced to wine. All in all, the vibe of Aaron is awesome! Gibson was a great host, very knowledgeable, in the varietals, the Aaron story and general conversation. I was the only patron in the tasting room, that had something to do with it, but I got a sense of the passion he had for the wine he was pouring, not just pouring wine to make a sale. Highly recommend visiting Tin City and stopping by Aaron Wines. Probably the next club we job. Thanks for everything!

The hospitality is second to none - Katie and the entire tasting room team are incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and always make our visits feel special. Aaron built his reputation as the Petite Sirah OG in Paso back in the early 2000s, and his Petite Sirah still stands out as one of the best in the region. But what's impressed us most is how strong his entire lineup is - from the crisp, structured whites under the Aequorea label to the elegant Rhône-style reds under the Aaron label like Citizen, Mauka, and Trespasser. The Tin City tasting room is welcoming and stylish, complete with a vinyl setup where the team curates music based on guests' tastes - such a fun, personal touch. Their wine club events are the best we've attended with amazing wine, great food, and an awesome + diverse community of wine club members. We're already looking forward to the album cover costume themed fall pickup party and can't recommend Aaron Wines enough!

(Texas knows bbq!) And Chef Gregory's is right up there. If you miss good southern or mid-western smoked BBQ stop in and give Gregory's a try. Not only does he do the California favorite of tri-tip (very smokey and very tender!) he also smokes brisket, both pork and beef ribs, and pork belly. The pork belly sweet chili sauce is fantastic! The cole slaw is unique, tangy and tasty. There is a core menu of items available daily. Off the pit is: Tri-tip Wednesday, brisket Thursday, beef ribs Friday and spare ribs on Saturday. But you can call and ask for any of those special day items to be saved for you to pick up on another day if you can't get there. What a great idea. Gregory was very welcoming and willing to discuss menu items and sauce ingredients. I am Celiac, so I needed to know whether any sauces had gluten. Happily most do not. I am now a huge fan and will be back often!

Tri-tip - so tender with great flavor. Baby back ribs - deep flavor, tender, and beautiful smoke ring. Ribs came with sauce on the side but I thought they didn't need sauce. Pork belly was tender. Had never had pork belly smoked before but glad we tried a sampling. Only thing I was missing was a slice of white bread. Chef Gregory also shared a sample of the Mac and cheese. He has his own spice blends, and bbq sauce too I believe. You can buy them there as well. Both he and his lady were so friendly to chat with. I wish them all the success, and with food this good, they can't miss!

Our tasting guide definitely knew her stuff and I appreciated all the time she's put in with Sculpterra! I loved how they grew pistachios too and have them for purchase to enjoy with your wine. All the sculptures are so unique and interesting. You could even find details of iron work in the bathroom! Very cool. The outdoor area was beautiful and it was fun to check out the big photos and play some bocce pall. The breeze and weather and ambiance were all great, it was a perfect first stop upon arrival in Paso for the weekend!

The grounds are gorgeous, the sculptures throughout the property are genuinely impressive, and the music and scene were a great backdrop. The wine itself seemed perfectly decent. But the experience on the ground was bad enough that none of that mattered by the time we left. We didn't have a reservation, that's on us. But the website says reservations are recommended, not required, so we figured we'd try anyway. From the moment we walked in, it was clear we weren't wanted. The hostess hustled us into a side room, then walked off, at which point a server immediately told me -- not pleasantly -- that I was standing in the wrong place. When I asked about a few wines I was interested in, I was met with a clear lack of interest, capped off by being rudely told to just get a glass of muscat, like the suggestion was as much about getting rid of me as it was a recommendation. So that's what we did, and then we left. We tasted at several other wineries in Paso Robles that day and had wonderful experiences at every one of them. Staff who were warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely happy to have us, reservation or not. Sculpterra was the only stop where we walked away having spent next to nothing, and it's the only place on the entire trip we'll never go back to, no matter how nice the grounds are. Beautiful property, but the people working the floor that day made it clear they didn't want our business, so we obliged.
