One can walk across the street to the shopping center for food and health break. We opted to walk out the parking lot, made a left turn ,3 business down to Kochi BBQ & Seafood for dinner . 3 star due to not having food and bathroom facilities and no trash can receptacle near by the charging port . when the bank is closed it felt quiet and isolated. At night the parking light is very dim and looked eerie to me. If you are here just to charge during the day it's a good place , at night alone I would pass and find a more well lit spot. Meh, charges at 56kW (about 215 mi/hr) and only has 8 stalls. Basically you wait for a turn to charge and then you wait for a slow charge. Easier to just use one of the other Supercharger places like Paso Robles, unless you really want the SloDoCo donuts across the street. Huckleberrry's restaurant's here and Rabobank is too - but it's awkward when the non Tesla traffic is pushing past aggressively (while Teslas are queued up or doing the "back in to charge" maneuver). Pro tip: Starbucks is a 1 minute drive away so grab your human needs there first before starting the slow wait. read more

Along the 101 drive between LA and SF there are 4 chargers in SLO County: Pismo Beach, SLO, this one followed by Paso Robles. If you are planning a drive along the Central Coast you can then use the 41 to go west to Morro Bay then travel north to places like Cambria and Hearst Castle. Keep in mind that the next SC going up north on 1 is Big Sur. There are 8 V2 stalls with speeds up to 150kW. As other people have mentioned the speeds vary depending on how many people are also charging. Amenities wise there aren't very much - there's a Rabobank with a drive-up ATM on your right, a Denny's on your left and across the street there's SloDoCo Donuts and Que Pasa Mexican Cafe. Not sure if they'll let you use the facilities due to COVID-19 restrictions. I stopped by here twice during my Central Coast drive but now that the SC in Paso Robles is open I'd much rather go there due to convenience and easier access to restrooms and food/coffee. While the Atascadero plus Paso and Pismo Beach SCs fulfills a need so that the SLO SC doesn't get super crowded there's not much to do in the town. Plus I had a rather awful encounter with a non-Tesla driver who gave me a rude gesture because he apparently didn't know that a Tesla is supposed to back into the stall in order to charge. read more

Great station right off of Hwy 101 with plenty of places to walk to for eats and drinks. There is a movie theater across the street, but no time for a movie. I was the only car there at 5pm and had a great charge - 374 mi/hr. I went on one of the very end stations. You have to look closely for it as you could accidentally drive right by it - which is what I did! Look for Union Bank- it's in that parking lot. read more

Super fast and powerful charger. There was only one other Tesla there when we arrived on a Saturday night. Walking distance to shops, park, restaurants, etc. I personally did not see any out of order chargers. With the delivery/production of so many new 3's out there, it's been more of a challenge to charge our S while on vacation. Thankfully, Tesla seems to be doing a good job of building more accessible and convenient charging stations. read more

Is it possible to perhaps have a "supercharger" that puts out fewer kW than my charger at home? Literally getting 3 kW hour. Of course all stalls are shared at this supercharger, and it's usually packed, so it's not like you can switch easily. Before you say "go to a service center" my car regularly charges over 500 miles/hour and it was 68 out. If you are on a road trip on the 101 do NOT include this one in your journey or you might find yourself stuck for hours. The 101 as of late 2019 is woefully underserved. Tesla should add a decent supercharger in King City and perhaps one that actually works in Paso Robles. read more

We were road trippin' up the pacific coast highway on Labor Day weekend (Saturday, lunch time) with plans to supercharge in San Luis Obispo. Unfortunately, the superchargers there were PACKED and a line had began to form. We bit the bullet and drove another 20 minutes up the 101 and lo' and behold, right off the freeway, there was an UNOCCUPIED row of superchargers. Best investment of 20 minutes ever. We grabbed a scrumptious bite at the nearby Korean BBQ place (although there seems to be many options nearby-- coffee, Mexican, Thai) and zoomed away in our silent car. read more

Charging station is a bit slow. I would recommend, if you can, traveling 10 miles up the road to Paso Robles and use the supercharger station there, nearly 3 times the speed. That said, if you are not in a hurry this location is fine. There is a Denny's in same parking lot but I recommend going across the street to SLODOCO (donut shop). Great bakery, coffee, sodas, etc. and nice atmosphere. read more

Good speeds if there's only about half of the people here, you can get 75+kw. The Dennys is located here but I found a short walk over to the park were plenty of other things to do and eat (either direction left or right can result in things to do while charging). Great coffee shops, awesome movie theater with full bar, Mexican restaurant right across the street, great sushi place 100 feet to the north, and lots of stalls that are well lit. The coffee shop to check out, is Malibu brew which is about 500 feet to the north, and if you go a little bit further, Bru is also good! Movie theater is right across the street. See pic. Stopped for a quick charge. Transients wander close by & you back your car up to what appears to be an area transients reside. Although fine during the day, I would be careful at night. It was very uncomfortable at midnight. Desperate for a charge, we connected our Tesla, but had to stop within 5 mins. as the car sounded like it might take off.
