I always used to go to chain salons and I always left unhappy. I have been to EHD twice now and both times I left happy with my cut. I love that you can book online. It made it so easy to pick a time, review prices and services. The stylists took the time to listen to what I wanted and cut my hair based on how it lays and dries. My stylist this last time, Scotland, even took the time to see how the shape of my glasses fit with the bangs I wanted. I never even thought about those might fit together before. She also took the time to show me how to style my bangs since my hair doesn't quite want to cooperate with anything I try to do. She even let me know I had a week to come back if I decided I wanted my bangs shorter. I'll definitely be back! read more

My previous hair stylist recently retired, so I was looking around for a new salon to check-out close to home and found EHD. I booked an appointment online on there website for an 9 a.m. cut and style. I arrived right at 9 to meet with my stylist, Jennae. The receptionist and Jennae were both super welcoming and helpful. Jennae got started right away with my consultation, I requested a trim and layers. She cut a few inches off my hair, washed/conditioned, layered, and blow dried my hair. Jennae is super easy to talk to, laid back, and did an amazing job touching base with me as she cut my hair which was super reassuring. The cut was only $35 without tip. The inside of the shop is decorated super cute and you can tell the shop is kept clean. I'm super happy with the results and I plan on visiting the salon for future cuts! read more

I just got my hair done here yesterday by Kaitlyn and could not be happier! She is a curl specialist which is great for my curly wild hair. Did a ton of research to find a place that someone that is creative on cut and color. Tried this place out.. I sent pics ahead of time to give examples and brought some with me. I can't say it was terrible but I was hoping for evident and obvious pop in color as I told my stylist I was very vibrant and I'm not scared of cuts as my hair grows quickly. When she showed me the final look.. I was very disappointed that is was super subtle. I asked if she was going to put on more color?? She proceeded to say she could go more color next time. Well unfortunately I didn't want NEXT time and I drove 45 min away and have tight schedule because of work...the cost was very expensive for not getting exactly what I wanted.. I think she said something along lines people say they want intense color but was afraid it would be too much as this is what people say but when they see it they are freaked out...It was why I tried to convey that in the beginning.. hair looks nice for a very conservative look but not what I was going for and sought out this place because of the specialty in color. Let me start off by saying Mackenna was sent to earth by the hair GODS. I went in so nervous after having my hair ruined by other stylists in the past and honestly was expecting to leave disappointed. I couldn't have been more wrong. The environment was incredibly inviting and friendly, and all of the staff was so easy to talk to! I've never felt more comfortable in a salon setting in my entire life (and I went to cosmetology school!). I left with EXACTLY what I wanted and I've received so many compliments in the last 24 hours that my head is still spinning! Cambria took a chunk out of the front of my hair on one side. I never wanted layers, I never said to take a random chunk out of my hair, but here I am when I was trying to grow my hair out for my wedding the beginning of next year. I had my face framing bangs trimmed as well and one side also came out shorter. I tried having her fix the areas, bangs she kind of fixed, however it seemed she barely saw the problem on the bottom and couldn't fix it. This was on top of coming in blond, and wanting to leave blond with low lights added in, but I ended up leaving with all of my hair basically brown. While toner sat in my hair I asked if the color was darker, or lighter than when I came in, she assured me it was basically the same color. When I was surprised with how dark it was when I saw it she again said the color didn't change much, felt like I was being gaslit. I left with an anxiety attack beyond upset with what was done to me. Review would have been 1 star, but the owner Jennae got me in the next day with Scotland who stripped the brown from my hair and did her best the blend in what Cambria did to my hair. I ended up having to get some hair from the other side taken off on top of her blending. Again, I'm trying to grow my hair for my wedding so this has just been such an awful experience. read more

I have been going to the same stylist for over 10 years and I love her. However, the haircut choice I have recently made seems to be a problem for her. After about 6 tries at it, I have given up with her and decided to try and find someone else that could do it better. Living close by and watching to see if any new businesses were ever going to occupy this strip mall, I was excited to see this salon go in at the end of 2017. After reading the reviews, I decided to book an appt with Kaitlyn. I was both surprised at the cost of the hair cut and how quickly I could get in (my other stylist was always booked for at least 2 mos out and cost $40). This is a very small salon with only 4 stylists and 1 estetician. However, it is cutely decorated (my favorite color is purple) and very clean. There is ample room inside with a small waiting area at the front and lots of natural light. It reminded me more of a barber shop atmosphere, in that after I was there for a while, all of the clients began conversing with each other and everyone was joining in each others conversations :) Everyone was very friendly. All 4 stylist were there at some point during my appointment and they all seemed very friendly and very attentive to their client's needs. When I first arrived, I showed Kaitlyn a couple pictures of what I wanted for my hair cut and explained the problems I have had with it in the past. She asked a few questions about my general hair condition and hair care. Once she was done washing, drying, cutting and styling my hair, I asked her if she could cut another 1/2 inch off. With no problem, she did as I requested and I am absolutely satisfied with my cut...finally! It's exactly what I've been wanting! She ended up cutting more than she had shown me, but I wasn't too concerned as I just thought it had needed it. 2 days later after I showered it was brought to my attention that the cut was crooked, to such an extent that 2 people pointed it out. Jannea was AMAZING!!! She did my hair and my wedding parties hair, and it by far and away was my favorite wedding hair I've ever seen and I've been to my fair share of weddings. She also was so pleasant to work with and talk with. She has a very friendly, bubbly, and chatty personality which was exactly what I wanted on my wedding day! My wedding party all had very different hair and she made all the ladies look amazing. I also loved the fact that she added some flowers to my hair day of that really made it perfect for my venue (I uploaded the photos). For the past 10 years or so, I've been stuck in a cycle of getting my hair cut only once every couple of years -- letting it grow super long, chopping it all off, and then letting it grow really long again. I've decided to finally be a grown up and get regular hair cuts, and am very happy to have found Elegant Hair designs! The first time I went, I had my hair cut by Jennae; the second time, Kaitlyn (who is new and as of December 2016 actively seeking new clients!) cut my hair. Both of them did an excellent job, and I was very happy with the results. Kaitlyn was especially careful and thorough in making sure she was giving me the haircut I wanted, and in styling my hair as she blew it dry (even with the express cut option.) Most of the hairdressers offer the option of an "express" (30-minute) haircut (with a wash and basic blow dry) for only around $20 - 22. I'm new to Indiana, so this might be a standard price for this area, but it seemed like a great deal to me -- MUCH cheaper than similar salons I've been to in New Jersey or Los Angeles. Scheduling is a breeze with online scheduling for each hairstylist, with a wide range of appointment times available: http://www.ehdsalon.com/scheduling.html; the system will give you text message reminders so you don't miss your appointment. The salon is clean and comfortable, and they have waters and coffee available while you wait. They also offer special event hair-styling, waxing, make-up, and massage, but I haven't tried any of those services. PS: They usually play the Christian music station on the radio, but it's quiet enough that it isn't too distracting if that's not really your jam! read more

Great service! I have had my hair cut by Melissa for probably 3-4 years. She is very easy to work with and I trust her, which is one thing you really want with a stylist. My cut is pretty basic and I have shorter hair, but I'm sure she does more fancy styling with no problems at all. Once or more I've scheduled a cut, walked in and she has said...I don't think you really need one. What stylist tells you that? I appreciate her honesty. With short hair sometimes I just need the back cleaned up. This is a really easy and convenient place to get a haircut. It is across from the waffle house on Emerson, close to 465. I couldn't be any more satisfied with the service and care that Jenna provided! She was very professional and knowledgeable, taking her time to make sure that her work was perfect and to my satisfaction. My haircut is fabulous and I am grateful! I feel my entire hair experience in life has been either playing scissors roulette with a $5-10 great clips (most often losing), or walking away from a salon with happy hair but an extremely unhappy wallet. Today was my first visit with Jennae Schenk and let me just tell you- I'm done with both of those games. I was SO pleased with the quality of her work. Jennae has been doing hair for 14 years and she's good. The prices were reasonable (especially if you use the Yelp special that has been going on!), the salon was comfortable, it didn't smell strongly of chemicals, and she listens very well to exactly what the customer wants. I moved down to Indy a little over a year ago and have avoided finding a new hair stylist at all costs. We had a family friend doing our hair for the last 10ish years, but moved and I tried a different stylist just before I moved who absolutely destroyed my hair and I hated it. Getting married and having my engagement pictures done soon, I knew I desperately needed to get my hair back into shape. I saw this salon had wonderful reviews and wonderful prices, so I gave it a go. One review mentioned Kaitlyn was looking for new clients, so I scheduled with her. Boy, she did not disappoint! From the start, she made sure to check exactly what I wanted done. Not only was she sweet as sugar, she was also extremely thorough and let me know what she was doing every step of the way while checking to make sure that it was what I wanted. My cut and color are everything I was looking and hoping for. I was most nervous about my bangs, as that's what was severely messed up before, and she told me that's one thing she has focused on. They are PERFECT! Jennae was also in the shop taking care of other customers - all types from kids to grown-ups, and she was just as sweet and thorough with each customer. I will not be coming here again. I had an appointment scheduled for 10am on a Saturday, got a phone call at 9 pm the night before saying that the stylist needed to cancel and no one at the salon had any other availability for that day. I was upset because the appointment was to get my hair done for a special occasion but I agreed to reschedule for the following weekend with a promised 20% discount. I showed up to the salon the next Saturday morning at 9am as agreed upon and after waiting for 20 minutes, find out that the stylist forgot and won't be able to make it until 10 and is already booked. She again promised another discount to reschedule, however, I have not heard back from her to actually reschedule for a second time. There was another woman waiting for this same stylist for the same time slot as me who was also stood up. It has been a complete waste of time and my previous hair cuts from this place were never great anyway. read more

It is advertised that they open at ten and walk-ins welcome; I drove over there at quarter to eleven to find an empty parking lot and a closed sign in the window.
