This is two reviews in one. I absolutely love my nails! Johnny has done my nails twice, and is so lovely and talented. He is patient when I show him the design I want and even added the chrome powder when I told him I like a bit of shine! The Vibe is good, and Johnny asked me questions about myself. I am so impressed with the design. The first photo was my pre-valentines day nails. I wanted something more subtle, and the second is V-Day ready!

I had my niece's wedding coming up, and I had Annie do nail art to match my dress. It was amazing. I received so many compliments, people loved my nails.. I highly recommend Annie for any nail art you need done. she is fantastic. And so creative.

Johnny is the best. I give him the creative flexibility to do what he wants with my nails and he always delivers. I've been coming here for YEARS now and I am always happy when I leave. Love this place!

There are at least 5 nail salons in this area and I have been to them all feeling disappointed. I called ahead and the owner seemed super nice and was greeted by her when I went in. The person who took care of my nails took time to take my previous polish off but was efficient. I also love when they get the job done with over coating the gel nail making it super heavy/blotchy. She did two coats so it look like my nails and not fake. Love the color she recommended, too. I will be back!

I visited Elegant Nails recently and had my manicure done by a technician named Johnny. Unfortunately, the experience left a lot to be desired. From the start, his demeanor was unwelcoming. When I asked for a specific nail color, he curtly told me that whatever was on display was all that was available -- no problem, but the tone felt unnecessarily dismissive. I requested almond-shaped nails, and he immediately said my nails were too short. This surprised me because my friend, who was getting her nails done at the same time by someone else, started with even shorter nails and still got the almond shape without issue. Throughout the appointment, Johnny was on FaceTime, which felt unprofessional and distracting. I also noticed he seemed to skip the primer on one nail -- when I politely asked about it, he replied with, "I know what I'm doing, thank you," which made me feel awkward and uncomfortable for simply asking a question. The part that really made me uneasy was that he was visibly sick -- coughing and sniffling -- while working on my hands without a mask. He only put a mask on when a white customer walked in, which he kept on for the rest of the time. I don't know if that was a coincidence or not, but the timing didn't sit right with me. While the final nails were okay, the overall experience -- from the attitude to the lack of hygiene -- was enough to make me decide not to return. I wouldn't recommend this place based on my visit. read more

During the year, 3 different technicians have provided services. Each one has been as outstanding as the next. All were kind, speedy and just plain great at their craft. I have had a few great experiences at Elegant nails. Both with an appointment and without. Johnny has done my dip manicure twice now and he is the best!! Sometimes dip manicures can look way too thick and clunky but he styles it perfectly so it blends in with my natural nail flawlessly. He is super detailed and efficient. Very disappointed. It took two hours for this and she did two whole layers of dipping my finger in white dip powder and then proceeded to just paint over it sloppily. Cut my finger with the tool and didn't clean up my nails at all. Unfortunately will not be going back. read more

I wanted to love this place because it's close to me, but I can't. I went for the first time today, and unfortunately, it will be my last. I received the worst pedicure of my life! Not only was it extremely rushed (20 minutes from old polish off to new polish on), but the tech cut my toenails super short away from the skin and rounded them. I'm not a nail tech and even I know you cut your toenails straight across. Then, to top it off, the polish part was rushed and sloppy and it definitely shows. Now I just hope I don't get ingrown toenails as they start to grow back. read more

I was in town visiting few dear friends over Labor Day weekend. My nails were bare from SF as all salons were still closed. I jumped at the chance when my friend asked if we could go get our nails done -- YES!! She's been to the salon many times as she lived right around the corner. I opted for gel manicure. The job was done perfectly and it lasted 4 whole weeks! No chip, no fade, just amazing staying power. This was the main reason why I'm leaving this rave review! I much prefer leaving positive reviews. It's one thing to get a bad mani, but my service here was so astounding that I felt something needed to be said. My nails are not straight, some of them are slanted, one hand is actually noticeably shorter than the other!! They're honestly embarrassing! To start, I asked for acrylics and was told a price. I totally understand and have no problem when a salon charges extra for length/shape, but if they do, the least they could do is get it right!! I asked for a medium-length slim coffin shape, and instead I got blobs!! (The picture I uploaded hardly does them justice...except for the wrecked nail polish on my middle finger - that was all me ). But what took me over the edge was the fact that the woman doing my nails was so incredibly rude, saying she doesn't do acrylics often enough to do them perfectly (she said she does them maybe once a month??) and that if I want a better job that I should "go to the southside where they do nails like this." FIRST of all I'm from the north shore. Second of all, I don't recall the southside being the go-to destination to get medium length nude colored nails done.... Regardless, the southside salons my technician preached about are probably cleaner anyway... read more

The only reason it isn't five stars is that my cuticles aren't very clean (you can see in the pic) and we didn't have time for designs or even a dusting of glitter. I was about 20 mins late to my appointment (my bad). They still did the manicure, but there was no time for design or the pedicure I had booked. Still, gel x for $70 is not bad, and it was overall a good experience. I would try it again!

from beginning to end, i received excellent customer service…read more i spoke with someone on the phone to book my appointment, and they were very polite. when i arrived, the front desk staff was just as welcoming, and my nail tech was an absolute sweetheart. truly 10s across the board for the entire team. they also offer coffee and water, which is such a nice touch. i got the golden spa luxury pedicure ($90) and a no-chip gel manicure ($48), plus the gel add-on ($20) for the pedicure. the service itself was lovely--my tech was professional, attentive, and clearly knew what she was doing, which always makes a difference. i'm really happy with the results, and after walking all over chicago these past few days, my feet are definitely thanking me! i would absolutely recommend this place and will be returning next time i'm back in chicago.

I generally get my service from the manager, Holly, who is always pleasant and always professional. Also, remember not all nail techs provide the same service. Do not ASSUME that someone is receiving special treatment because you were there first and they were serviced first. Maybe the only nail tech available at the moment does not do the service for which you are there. YES they should say something but you could also speak up before heading to the internet and trying to ruin a GREAT business. This place is amazing! I highly recommend!!!! read more

So many salons barely survived the pandemic but I'm so glad that Elegant Nails on Wells is alive and well! Very well, actually. I went there this week after the long hiatus and, as always, left more than happy. I used to be a "pink-and-white" girl but now I've switched to powder dip and I'm thrilled. Holly's work is beautiful. And, Lee gave me a perfect, professional pedicure. I've been a customer of this salon for many years and all I can say is, why try another 3-star experience when you can go to Elegant Nails on Wells for 5-star treatment all the way. I love it here! NATALIE is the absolute best as well as Johnny. They do a perfect job and I will not go anywhere else. Their designs are beautiful and they are so talented. Best nail place ever! I get the dip manicure and regular pedicure. They do the best job. I've tried a ton of other places in Chicago and they don't even compare. My dip manicure will last a month without chipping. Highly recommend this spot :) read more
