I've been to 7am Nails a few times and have always had a great experience. The salon is clean, and the technicians are always very sweet. I got a gel manicure that unfortunately started chipping after only a few days, so I booked an appointment for a free touch-up under their 10-day guarantee. I was expecting them to just fix the two nails that were peeling, but they completely redid my right hand and added a second coat to my left so everything looked perfect. They even took the time to shape my nails, give me a hand massage, and apply cuticle oil -- all for free! I of course left a tip, but this was truly above-and-beyond service. I had the new worst nail salon experience :c I used to value hygiene the most when I chose nail salons but I learned my new lesson... not cutting me and making me bleed might be even more important. Not a little cuticle bleeding but actually slicing the skin... which was what happened to me To preface this, I previously visited 7am nails in the loop and enjoyed the experience. I've referred many friends to 7am since then and have been a fan. The only downside of the loop location was that it's closed on Sundays and when I learned that Streeterville location is open on Sundays, i was really happy. I called the general line for 7am (seems like they have a consolidated phone line?) in the morning on Sunday to confirm that I can walk in any time in the afternoon. So I walked in at 2:40 (online scheduling there were availabilities for 2:45 and 3pm). But when I walked it, I was told I had to wait until 3:30. It was strange because the salon was less than 40% full. Since I was already there, I said ok and waited patiently. After 30+ min of wait (which was interesting because while I was waiting, one of the nail techs came over asked me if I was Nancy and when I said I am not, she just walked away. No explanation, no apologies. I was confused and annoyed), my nail tech came over to me waiting. She didn't speak English but she seemed kind. We didn't talk much because she said "no English" but I was ready to enjoy the service, Unfortunately, things started going downhill from there. She was very rough in handling nails and she ended up cutting/slicing into my skin adjacent to the nail (not cuticle- actual skin) with the cuticle pusher. It basically sliced the skin. It was bleeding a lot. I was confused on what was going on but she just blotted it and kept putting on infa-lab magic touch liquid but didnt explain to me what happened, what she was putting on, and I was freaking out seeing blood (we got through more than 1/3 of the bottle of that thing and many cotton pads blotting blood). She kept moving on to other fingers while the bleeding was happening. Then she asked me to go wash my hand and when water touched the wound, it hurt a lot. I came back and told her I can't proceed and left the salon. This was a frustrating experience because I couldn't communicate and what happened here was a genuine health hazard and infection risk. The manager was nice and apologized but it was strange to see the staffs next to her just staring at me... I was there for a relaxing experience and trying to prep for my long out of town trip but i ended up leaving the salon with a cut, which still stings and is causing me discomfort as I pack for the trip and head to the airport. I contemplated a lot before posting the review. I always want to support small businesses. As an immigrant myself, I want to be supportive of those whose first language is not English. But I also want to let others be aware of what happened to me because I don't want this to be repeated. read more

The nail tech herself was great. 2 weeks past and my nail broke and another chipped. I'm not looking for a free touch up, I just wanted to fix my broken nail and chipped nail, willing to pay. I call and the receptionist said it'll be $9 to fix the gel and a free 'color change' to fix the chipped nail. She calls back saying it's her first day, got it wrong, and in order to fix my broken nail and chipped nail, that they'll have to charge me a full set. No thank you. Also, when I got my gel manicure done originally through ClassPass, I understood I'd have added charges because I got a gel French manicure, and when I get to the register, the nail tech who was there (not mine) ended up telling me a total that was different than what my nail tech told me. She also looked pissed off, which I ignored. At the time I didn't think anything of of it because prices or up charges get lost in translation, but between that and this experience, I'd say it's poor communication. I have been going to 7am now for the past several months. While there are other nail salons closer to me, and probably less expensive, I keep coming back to 7am due to their high quality health standards, attention to detail, and ease of appointments. I rarely have a problem finding an appointment time that fits my schedule, including Sundays. I jump around between three of their locations, but the Old Town location is my main go-to for ease of parking and color selection. I generally get a gel mani and Dazzle Dry pedicure for my service. I enjoy all the techs, but Tuya was my most recent tech and she was efficient, attended to detail, and gave me a very pleasant experience. I recommend their membership, especially if you get your nails done 1-2x/month. It really saves in the long run. read more

I was in town visiting Chicago for the weekend for the Beyonce concert and I made the appointment shortly after I landed. Considering it was a red eye flight from California and I made the appointment on a whim, I made the mistake arrived at the wrong location. I hadn't realized there are several locations in the city despite the notifications I had received. The staff was super accommodating and was able to get me seen at the correct location. This location is very aesthetically pleasing which I love in a nail salon. However, I got nicked during the service when my cuticles weren't cut appropriately and the gel X was super thick. The prices were a bit pricey for a gel X and a standard pedicure (Gel x with French $94, Pedicure $59). I'm okay with paying for an experience but I've had better work done for way less. Ultimately, I wasn't incredibly impressed with my nails or the experience. But I appreciate that I was still able to get my nails done despite my mistake, since I was in a pinch. read more

I found 7am nails on class pass and it was a wonderful place for me to get nail set done for the first time! Everyone was SO friendly and nice - when I entered, there was a locker for me to put all of my stuff and I even got sparkling water while I waited. The front desk even helped me pick out my colors based on the design and explained how pricing works (nail art on 2 fingers is additional $10) My nail tech was super friendly and inviting, I would definitely go again and recommend it to anyone they were also super covid friendly, each station was spread out and I saw nail techs sanitizing after each session They also have a membership package that you could check out if you were interested! $99/month! read more

For Old Town location: Do NOT come here for gel x unless you have the PERFECT nails for it. I had one of the worst experiences of my life. First of all, during the manicure, the pinky extension popped off. Immediate red flag #1. I've never had that happen before. Normally I get my gel x nails done by another nail tech with ZERO issues that last 3 weeks, but I was back home for the holidays and needed to find a service in Chicago. Second of all my index finger extension popped off NOT ONCE, BUT TWICE. The day after I got them done, I was showering and it came off. I got it repaired. The repair was lazy and done in less than 20 minutes with no real prep or buffing of my nail. I didn't say anything because I had no time to waste and needed to be in and out asap and assumed the nail tech knew what she was doing. THE VERY NEXT DAY, the SAME NAIL pops off AGAIN. I come in and they fix it using a different technique. Fine, it stays on. TWO DAYS LATER, BOTH MY THUMB AND MIDDLE FINGER POP OFF while I am putting my shoes on. I tell them this is ridiculous and all they offer is for me to come in and do a regular gel manicure. I realized later on that I ended up paying almost double for that service because gel x is about 2x the cost ($89) of a gel manicure ($49). I called them and asked them to refund me the difference. They refused because the gel manicure was "complimentary". How is it fair that I end up paying MORE for a service that I DIDN'T WANT in the FIRST PLACE??? I wasted gas and parking money and my time for a service I did not even initially want and I still ended up paying double for it because they don't offer any sort of refunds. Ridiculous. They kept making excuses that I had "oily and short nail beds". This has never happened in my life with other gel x technicians. If you look at the photo provided with my thumb nail bed, you can see it is not even THAT short. Even if it was too short or too oily for their skill level, I should've been notified that this service would not work and been offered any compensation for all this time and money I have wasted. They do not care about their customers time nor experience. I mean seriously how can you expect me to be satisfied just because I got a service for "free" that you offered because you charged me for a more expensive service that only lasted 1 day with no nails popping off. This is a complete nightmare. Not everyone has time and money to throw around. read more

7AM Nails truly is the best to do it in the city. They have several locations, a wide range of appointments, and a staff that is so kind, even when absolutely swamped. Their services are priced around the going rate for a mani/pedi (if not a little lower) and they encourage tips for their staff, which I love. I've had several staff members give me service and every single one has been phenomenal. Every. Single. One. They work quickly, so you aren't there all day, while also prioritizing quality. My gel mani literally last almost 4 weeks before looking crazy or chipping. I appreciate their easy online booking system and that you're able to make requests like sitting next to a friend you're going with, requesting a quick appointment because you're on a time crunch, etc. My only small complaint are the pedi chairs at the old town location. While they're very comfy, the way the bowls are angled can make it uncomfortable to hoist your legs up for a long time, but the staff is accommodating with letting you adjust to get the right position that's comfortable. I got a no chip manicure service and it was a great experience - they took their time and it feels like they will last. The tools used were new and everything felt very COVID-safe. The atmosphere at the salon is great. Bright open space, super clean, doesn't smell like harsh chemicals. All staff members were really nice and they have lockers for you to put your personal items in. HIDDEN GEM!! I was walking down Wells street when I stumbled upon this unique nail salon. I was surprised I'd never seen them before but then I learned that they just opened 2 weeks ago! Immediately when I walked in I thought "oh how cuuuteee!" They have a modern minimalist theme and decorate with lots of green plants. You won't find any TVs in the place so you can just relax and get away from the world. Instead they have some modern music softly playing in the background. The staff is the nicest and friendliest people I've ever met at a nail salon! I had Anabelle do my pedicure and Crystal do my manicure. I love that they're open from 7am to 8pm because I always have trouble getting my nails done around my work schedule. This salon is a non toxic nails salon aimed at changing the industry for less toxic products and cleaner routines. They probably would qualify as a medical spa because their routines are so clean! One thing to know is that because they're nontoxic, they don't do acrylic. They do have completely vegan nail polish, both no chip and regular. I went to the Streeterville location and it was so worth it. I get nervous with cleanliness but this place is prestine, sanitized, my nails came out flawless. Luxe pedicure was great. They offer beverages and a comfortable ambiance. To me, this is worth the prices. Willing to take me in last minute and the staff was sweet. Karina did my gel extensions and they're perfect, highly recommend. I didn't catch the great gal that did my pedicure. 7am nails is a newer spot in Old Town (about a year or so) and it's wonderful. Spotless, friendly, and they're incredibly respectful of your time. I loved the lockers so I didn't have to carry everything with me to my chair. While their normal price for a no-chip mani + pedi can run a bit more expensive, I was a customer through Classpass and tipped on what the services usually are. If you're looking for a place to treat yourself, I'd check it out. I'm extremely happy with how my nails turned out and I hope to be back again soon! read more

This is a review for the 7am location in Streeterville. It was the WORST pedicure I have ever had. When filing off the gel polish they persecuted my cuticles like they were felons, and made them bleed. A week later the results are still on my toes (see pic). My feet touched the water a total of 5 minutes. Before my foot even got into the water the tech did callous remover and the exfoliation on completely dry skin all up and down my leg. She then dug deep into one of the corner of my toes with the sharpest object and made that bleed. No apology, nothing. I paid for the highest cost service pedicure and my pedicure was completed in 25 mins with 10 mins for gel removal. If you enjoy torture come here. read more

If this review was based only on the atmosphere of the salon and how nice the staff is, it would be 5 stars. But I take everything into consideration when I'm reviewing a place. I got a basic pedicure for reference. So first the good: - staff is very nice and welcoming. They offer you carbonated water (which I didn't get because I was wearing a mask and didn't feel like taking it off) - the space is really pretty - open, clean, bright. You can tell it's a newer space. - the exfoliating on the pedi felt really nice Can be improved: - the selection of nail polish was not good. Hardly any colors to choose from. Most salons it takes me a bit to find my color. This time it took me a few minutes to find one I liked. There really wasn't a bright pink, which is what I wanted today so needed to settle. - the chairs - while I get the vibe they are going for, it's not comfortable to sit in a chair that only goes up to your mid back. I like to lean back and relax when I'm getting a pedi and couldn't do that here. - the prices were quite high. They do give a discount for your first visit but it's still the most I've spent on a basic pedi. - how you book appointments wasn't my favorite - if you book online you put in a CC number and they charge you right away. They say something about if you don't add a tip they will put a service charge on it. Well 1) there was nowhere to put a tip when I was checking out and 2) I want to get my pedi before I decide how much to leave for a tip. I understand putting a CC down in case of late cancellations but the way they do it doesn't make sense. I tipped in cash and hopefully not charged this service fee. - my nail technician was really nice but I could tell she's new. It took longer than my pedis usually take and I had to remind her to file my nails on one side. The order for which she did some things also didn't make much sense (given I've gotten a decent number of pedis so I generally know the order) Everyone starts somewhere so that's perfectly okay but the pricing should reflect that. The pedi was okay. Not my worst one, not the best. My first 2 nails weren't cut the same on both feet which is annoying. I needed one before an event I have tomorrow out of town and this was the closest salon to me with last minute appointments. Probably won't come back here, though. read more

I live between NY and LA and the vibe at 7AM is very similar to the service I'm used. ALSO, there's no harsh chemicals being used in this salon, so we all get a chance to keep our health.
