She is very professional and pays attention to what you want and not what she thinks looks good (so many Stylists do that!). I finally needed a color change after two years of a reddish brown color that I was so sick of and Ceara was able to give me a warm brown that toned down the red tint that I didn't like. I absolutely love my cut and color! My hair hasn't felt this healthy in a long time. After following her advice of getting trims every 6 weeks, my hair is finally keeping it's length and growing. She also does a few of my friends extensions-- they look amazing and so natural! They have different tiers, $15, $30, $40, etc. so it was really easy to work into my budget. Maven is a lot different than any other place I've been to. The hair dressers don't have their own stations, which was strange to me. I'm used to places that feel more like you're at home. Even though Maven was a relaxing experience, it still just felt really uptight, if that makes sense. I may try it again in the future, but I feel like it might just be a one time experience for me.

My hair is *difficult*. It's way short, very fine, somewhat thin, and stick straight. It takes a really skilled person to keep it chic and feminine and not let it veer off into 'butch'. It took me several attempts in Boston to find the right person before I found Michael at Persona (who cut my hair for 10 years), and then in NYC it took a few less-than-stellar cuts before I found Collette at Alice Hair. I came to Lynchburg, and my mom recommended Zandra at Anthony and Company, and I crossed my fingers and hoped for the best, because, you know, I've never walked into a salon and had the first person who cut my hair turn out to be the person I wanted to cut it the next time. But Zandra did a bang up awesome job the very first time. Even my wayward cowlick behaved after she cut my hair. The salon itself is also great - nice space, very comfortable waiting area, etc. Everyone I've met there has been very nice, and Zandra is a lot of fun to chit chat with while she's cutting my hair. And I LOVE that she rinses your hair after a cut (but before blowing it dry) to rinse out all the little pieces of hair that would otherwise drift onto your clothes or end up making your face itch.
