It's Wednesday. Gonna have house guests for the weekend...look at my hair...nightmare. Rather than continue to put the weedwhacked former haircut up in a ponytail all weekend...I give a call to a salon I'd heard reviewed well that is in the same neck of the woods I'm gonna be in later. Amazingly...they can squeeze me in for a cut TODAY (I'm guessing based on how busy this place is, this is not the usual...and I'm okay with the fact that it might have only been my good fortune...cuz I deserve it). Let me just say this...I will now drive 30 minutes to get my hair done by LeeAnne...no question. She took the TIME to talk to me and hear exactly why my last cut was a disaster relegated to scrunchies for 2 months. She fixed the disaster...she wooed my hair back into beauty. Best thing...it looked just as good the next morning after the workout, shower and inept styling abilities of moi. Yay, LeeAnne!! I was bummed that she didn't have time to do a full foil (yeah, I know...ridiculous expectation)...but I have an appointment for that next week. Sweetness on a stick. One itty-bitty nuisance about the place...both the Yelp directions on iPhone & my Garmin GPS took me to Timbuktu industrial land (I thought it strange that there might be a hip salon right next to the emissions gig...and I was right.) Hair cut was good but no head massage. And just went straight to straighten my hair with a flat iron. Seems that's what they all do. Everyone coming out of here looked the same. Straight hair. No blow out. Salon lady did not get the hint that I was not a chatty customer, she made it very awkward she seemed pressured to keep talking. Totally fine but not everyone needs a full on convo. I hadn't had a haircut in almost two years now due to my last cut being such a bad experience. I decided to give Element a shot and just called and asked for a stylist with the next available appointment that worked with my schedule. They scheduled me with a gal Named Kaylee and I had the most incredible experience. She was so sweet and caring and welcoming. She went slow and I felt like she was really listening to what it was that I wanted. I didn't want a lot of length taken off and just some long layers with more structure to my hair. She did just that. My hair looks awesome, I have recommended her to all of it friends and I will continue to see her and only her. And I AM PICKY as much as I don't want to admit it. Shelly has been doing my mother-in-law's hair for years. Not only is she a great stylist, she is incredibly, generously kind. My MIL has dementia, and Shelly is so patient and friendly, making sure she feels pampered and beautiful. DO NOT book with Danyel Sandberg. I arrived 25 minutes early, sent a text and waited in the car as instructed. Waited for nearly AN HOUR. Finally received three texts asking me to come in and if I was still coming. I had already said I was waiting in the car. THE ONLY PERSON waiting out front in the car. So even if she actually did message me back and they didn't come through, how hard would it have been for her to come outside and wave me in? LAZY, UNPROFESSIONAL, RUDE. Hardly an appology (a flippant one at that) before sending me off. Booked me for an hour, but said that 15 minutes of that was to clean for the NEXT person. Thank you Yelp! I was searching reviews for a salon near my work and you guys did not steer me wrong. I saw all the fabulous reviews for Amanda and she did not disapoint. Full disclosure: I have had the same hair style for years long and straight, no bangs because I wear my hair up all the time for work. As one of my friends put it, I could just use a paper slicer to cut my hair and no one would know. For that reason I have been going to whatever walk in super Cuts type shop that I happen to be near for years. 2 weeks ago I got a random need to get a nice haircut and get bangs. Obviously Supercuts will not do. Amanda was awesome. She listened to me but also guided me and even asked me near the end if it looked like what I had wanted or if I needed something more done. Also, my new fabulous haircut only cost $35 which is SUPER reasonable. I'm totally making Amanda my regular stylist from now on. read more

I was rather disappointed with the service I received. I paid for an hour facial, and a full face wax. The face wax and my eye brows were terrible, Esti did not finish the job, I thought that she will be done at the end after my faciaI, and for my facial I only received 20 minutes at the most. Some creams in my face, the person call Esti told me that she will be back in 10 minutes, and she had me waiting 30 minutes them told me that I was ready and left immediately. I get a facial and wax at least once a month. This place is really BAD. I DONOT recommend this place at all or the person Esti. read more

I live in Renton and I've been getting brazilian waxes done in Seattle for the last 3 years and it has become too far of a drive. I found this Salon which is close to home and they have plenty of parking! Andrea did my waxing and did a great job! The room in the Seattle Salon was cramped; bright lighting; and posters of people that stare at you when you're half naked; uncomfortable. I had to place my belongings on the dirty floor. At this Salon the private room I was in was spacious, had light music, & dimmed lighting. The bed was covered with a nice velvety blanket and new towel place in the center for the bum. I even had a chair to place my personal belongings. No posters or photos were staring at me. The previous Salon I went to used strip waxing which left a sticky residue on my skin & the lady squeezed my skin with her nails to force out the ingrown hair; ouch! Andrea used hard wax which doesn't leave sticky residue and used tweezers to get the stubborn ones. She was very patient with me in explaining the difference. I had a good first experience with Andrea and hope to have more in the future! I gave a four star as I paid a bit more than I hoped for. Thanks Andrea! read more

I was rather disappointed with my haircut the 2nd time I came here. I had made an appointment for 5:45 and didn't sit down in the chair until maybe 6:15, when I first arrived about 5 minutes early, the receptionist told me that Mistie was just finishing up with her current appointment, well that wasn't true and after waiting 20 minutes I was about to leave and talked to the receptionist for the 3rd time and was told it would just be a minute. Well 30 minutes after my appointment began I was finally called back. I asked for just a trim but after living with the haircut for a few weeks now I am realizing how poorly the haircut really was, split ends all over the place. I won't be returning for a 3rd cut, the search continues for a decent place to get a haircut. read more

By far the worst salon, the girls at front desk are clueless, we went in the first time asking if we need an appointment or we can walk in, the girl at the front desk had no idea how to take an appointment also she did not offer any phone number or a business card to schedule an appointment or something. The second time we came in there was another customer in front of us who had been waiting for a while and then just left since no one came out to help her and eventually we left too since everyone at the back was busy dealing with there own customers. First visit to this all modality spa. They offer waxing, hsircuts, massages, etc. I had Este do my eyebrows. She was quick and did a great job. My only concern was, I noticed the covering on her table/chair wasn't changed between customers and yet we have to lay on it in order to get waxed. Hmm. read more

I used to get my color done in the Eastlake area of Seattle when i worked downtown but when i started working in Renton and live in Seatac, Eastlake was less than convenient. Having met Mistie at our Kickboxing Studio in Kent/Renton area and knowing that she did hair, I decided to give her a try since Elements was so close to work and home and Mistie was so fun to be around. I was very glad that I did! Not only does she do great hair, but she's very quick and her prices are incredibly fair (having long hair can be very pricey for coloring). Lee-Anne gave me the best Brazilian blowout I've ever had for $250. This is my third and I have long hair. Most are charging $350-$450 (I have long hair). Absolutely the best deal in town. It's the Brazilian Blowout brand, by the way, which is the best one on my hair. I've had one of those "non formaldahyde" keratin treatments and it didn't work nearly as well. Call her! read more

I made an appointment after reading all of the reviews and was excited a new place out...boy was I disappointed. The salon wasbeautiful and very modern. The receptionst was very kind and immediately asked if I wanted anything to drink. (They have: tea, coffee, water, etc. available) So I was starting to get really excited about my color and foil. After sitting in the chair and talking to Mistie about what I want to do, that's when the trouble began. I used to get a full/partial bleach foil and then a base lightening treatment. She REFUSED to give me the base treatment because "I didn't need it and she didn't understand why my last hairdresser would do such a thing." So I thought, "Okay, I'll put my trust into her." After my foil, I was placed under the heat dryer and left there for 45 minutes! She didn't even check on me. Then she cut my hair and did not even style it...I was so ready to leave. Three weeks later (because that's how long my color lasted) I went to a different stylist at a different salon and he was APPALLED by the coloring that Mistie did...he stated, "She gave you a partial partial foil and that's why your color didn't last." The salon is gorgeous and maybe I just had a bad run-in or my stylist had a bad day or something, but I will not be returning and I will defer all of my friends/family from going. I don't like giving bad reviews, but when I feel like I have been ripped off I need to report it. read more

I came in for a massage and a facial. The massage and facial were amazing for a place that is actually more of a salon. The front desk girl could have more of a personality and well all around try to be friendly, and they could have had a little bit more of a spa environment because every time they opened the door to get water or let me relax, it was SO loud with very LOUD women talking, actually they might have been yelling. I've never colored my hair before but I wanted something new. I read some decent reviews on this salon so decided to try. I showed the stylist a photo of an ombré/balayage hair style I liked that was bleach blonde and she said she could accomplish it. I came out with horrible highlights and it was nothing like ombré or even remotely blonde. It looked streaky and the highlights didn't even reach my scalp so it looked like 3 months of grow out already! Seems to be older stylists that don't seem to know new techniques. Had to go to another salon to fix it. Never again will I go there!! read more

I've been going here for a few years now, getting my hair regularly cut and colored by Katie. I never have to wait more than five minutes, everyone is nice, and most importantly Katie does a great job! She's very easy to talk to, laid back, and definitely takes her time to give you a great cut. Also, she never pushes products on me. In fact, two of my friends get their hair cut and colored by her as well and both are big fans. I'd say pricing is right about average for a nice salon. SUPER HAPPY WITH MY HAIR - I went to this salon for a 2 color foil and cut. It i s in the new Landing development in Renton and be careful because my map didn't have the roads loaded yet so it took me to the wrong end of town. The receptionist was very nice and greeted me right away. The salon was very bright, clean, and spacious so i didn't feel crowded by the other stations like you get at some places. Amanda was my stylist and she was very friendly and accommodating. She did a great job on my color which is a funky bright red/dark brown streaks and I love my cut - My hair turned out exactly the way I wanted it to. read more

This review is about their esthetician, Este. I've seen her twice now for a bikini wax, and both experiences have been great. I haven't had one in a few years and went here on a whim recently. Este immediately makes you comfortable and asks questions to ensure you get what you want. She'll do as much or as little as you prefer. The room is very clean and quiet and the bed is amazing. She is SUPER fast. I think I've been in and out both times in less than 10 minutes. It was almost 2 months between both of my waxes, and she remembered me and my preference. Appointments are very easy to get with her which is so convenient. I think cost was around $35 not including tip, and the results lasted almost 5 weeks for me (which will get better over time). Parking and building access is a breeze. She is someone I plan on continuing to see. read more

I had such a wonderful experience with Kathy at Elements today, she not only gave me a great hair style, she had to straighten out a very poor cut I most recently received in another shop in the area. The minute I sat in her chair I could tell she was a stylist. I showed her some photos of what I was hoping for, we discussed the style and she began. Just by the way she held my hair, measured the lengths, and discussed the style as she went along I knew it would be a successful outcome. I went for a haircut today with Tiffany. It was my first time to Elements Salon and let me say I will be back. Tiffany did a great job after seeing the thickness and texture of my hair. I told her I wanted layers and showed her a picture of what I liked. She washed my hair including a head massage and really took the time to make my hair look awesome. The layers look great and when she asked if it was short enough on the sides and I asked for a bit more off, she didn't hesitate and it seemed to make the style look even better. I've been going to Element for about a year now and I LOVE IT! Maria does my hair (Foils and cuts) and I've finally found someone who knows what they are doing! She LISTENS to what I want - and always exceeds my expectations. I get many compliments on my hair color and have sent a handful of friends Maria's way. I'm always pleasantly surprised at what a great deal it is, too! Today I just got a foil (and I have a lot of hair) for just $73. The salon is cute and hip - but doesn't feel stuffy. Everyone who works there is VERY nice. They sell high-end products that are affordable to the average consumer. Lindsey has been my stylist for over 5 years now, she is the whole reason I go to Element. She is amazing in how she colors and cuts my hair. People stop me everywhere and ask what I use and who colors it! Not to mention the added benefit that the salon is so stylish and plush, it's really a nice break to go see her there. She is great at easing you into a new style and she is very informative and knowledgeable about products and how to use them correctly. She gave me a great cut and style that I could actually recreate myself, miracle of miracles. Wow! I wanted a complete new hair style different from my long boring normal. I made an appt with Danyel to help with suggestions, she knew exactly how to encourage me and calm my fears. She took the time to talk about all the good and bad for my life style and gave good advice about color to complete the look I decided on. I ended up with a very short, very hot new look! I have had ALOT of compliments. Thanks to Danyels expertise, I have a new look I would have never known I could pull off. I feel YEARS younger and way more confident!
