(ponders) mmmmmmm...(scowl)...now, months after my 1st review on Yelp (which was for Elements), maybe I *am* a shill for Elements as some thought I was back then. I've done 2 "first" reviews for them. I wonder if that'd be good for, say, a 50% off coupon? (eyes owner Kate pointedly :)
Hokay. I relocated to NW Broomfield a few weeks ago, and have been in sort of a slump. It's been a combo of work-related personality issues, 6 weekends straight of weather more suited to the Scottish moors than the Denver area, and my car's engine self-destructing dramatically (I kid you not, there's an impressive hole in part of my engine), after my car started running more roughly and my low oil warning light didn't come on -- first time it ever failed -- and I didn't find out until it was too late. So it hasn't been the easiest last 30 days. It will get better.
I figured the kindest thing I could do for myself was get a massage, since I've been trying to at least make some nodding concessions towards the physical demands of my body. I call my usual haunt, Elements in "Cherry Creek" (even though it's really more like Elements of Cheesman Park). "Oh I'm sorry! We're all booked up today." Such is life. I call the Arvada location, who I'd heard was hurting for business. "Oh I'm sorry! We're all booked up today." Ooof. Maybe because it was Mom's Day? Maybe. Or maybe lots of people had the same idea I had.
Google, Elements, location finder...hmmm, an office in Boulder? Errrrrrrrr...hey *wait a sec*, I'm just down the street from Boulder now practically. *brrrrrrring...brrrrrrrring* "Elements of Boulder, how may I help you?" "Hi! Do you have any openings today?" "Why yes we do, *what time would work best for you?*" (eyes widen, mentally staggers back a foot or 2 and looks bewildered) "You mean I have a *choice*? Ummmmmm...anytime really." "Well, why don't I get you in at 3pm?" "3 would be good. 2 would be a better time. Would that work, or n..." "Yes, that'll work just fine." *boggle* Done and done!!! Hop in my friend's loaner car (yay for good friends) and zoom down to Boulder...
Had a heck of a time (for a 5 minute span) finding the place...the address is "30th St" but it is NOT *PHYSICALLY* on 30th St. It's in a little shopette/strip mall there. Between 28th and 30th St, on the N side of Pearl St, with the anchor store being a Whole Foods Market. Go around the corner east, then north -- and there you are. Never let it be said I don't spread around the good karma. :)
I get in there...Chris, the receptionist, is a sunny-faced cheery young man who welcomes me warmly. I'm blinking inside my mind and thinking "This does not compute. Why are all the things suddenly going my way today?" Maybe I was due. I give up trying to understand it and just accept. :) I meet Kate, the manager, just before I go into my session, with just as sunny and cheery a disposition as Chris had. I start to note a pattern of graciousness and kindness and positivity welling out of them - *genuinely*. I make note of things like that. Some small talk ensues and I find out the location has just been open a month. Really? I thought I'd seen them listed on Element's website before. But nope, just a month. I then meet my masseuse, Jenny, and yep...sunny, cheery, and wonderful personality. *GOOD DEAL* - I needed a break. :) :)
I'm sure I'm getting close to the review limit, but to start wrapping things up, Jenny gives a great massage. She tends to focus more on the gentler side versus deep, but she was able to bring some nice pressure in spots I sorely needed it - she also has a great personality and I bonded with her pretty quickly. She also has a soft touch -- some masseuses do not have that. I can't really put it into words well - for lack of a better descriptive term, you can tell she cares about her clients as well as her work -- some masseuses only care about the work but just want to clock you in and clock you out -- that isn't Jenny.
The room was very peaceful with soft music playing just enough to be background and relax you...not overly intrusive. Bed was warm and comfortable to lay on, clean sheets that were in good condition... basically a perfect environment to relax and try and unwind.
Kate was great afterwards and chatted with me for about 20-25 minutes, even though I was starting to get very mentally twitchy from low blood sugars. She hooked me up with the names of a chiropractor and another person, and I told her about Yelp -- I *loved* that she instantly scribbled it down like it was important. :) :) The Boulder location just became my default go-to place, not only for the personalities and skill there, but also because the E 6th Ave location is now a 45 min commute for me, driving pretty fast -- and Boulder is only 15 minutes tops. I'm looking forward to going back again in a few weeks! read more
