I was going to be in Carlsbad for a work meeting and decided to get a massage. I found Elements on Yelp and checked out their Instagram page before calling them. It was very easy to make an appointment over the phone. I didn't select the type of massage and was told they all cost the same, I just need to select the session timing. Other massage studios will price a deep tissue higher than a Swedish, so pricing by the hour was immediately a better option. I had a very relaxing and customized 90 min massage. It ended up being a variety of deep tissue, Swedish and trigger points. My lady was Kyla and I would definitely go back and request her. The studio is located in a large parking structure with Sprouts with plenty of parking. Pro tip- you can have more than one chocolate.. try the hazelnut and pistachio, so good! read more

Purchased a promotional discounted 90 minute massage for the price of a 60 minute massage as a good excuse to try this place out! I had been stung by a Massage Heights membership debacle in the past so was interested on how Elements would be. From the minute I walked in I was greeted professionally and warmly. Check in process was simple and quick, and I was soon whisked away by Tom. A seasoned masseur who had rave reviews from the staff. My massages was good, professional, and vigilantly mindful of comfort zones. That said, it was the most different massage in the manipulation he was doing to my limbs to access deep muscles to relieve some of the pain I reported in our initial meeting. It seemed to open up the tight spots and provide some initial relief. The rest of the massage was very traditional and relaxing. The only hiccup was when checking out there was a ten minute confusion regarding the gift certificate. The manager, Kelly was genuinely nice, explained that her "wonderful" new receptionist was new and still learning but that no, I would not be charged anything for my services! Bonus!!! Had a pretty terrible massage with Robert. He never asked what pressure I wanted, and when I asked for more pressure he said something like "I know what I'm doing, I need to consider my own longevity here." I wished I would have left when he made that comment, because the rest of the massage left me feeling significantly more tension than when I came in. Really was not what I was looking for at all, the pressure was about a 1/10 and it gave me no relief whatsoever. I am able to massage my own back with much more effectiveness and relieve my own tension. The worst part is that he, completely without asking, pulled out some bio freeze cream and rubbed it all over my neck and shoulders which was very uncomfortable and not what I was looking for at all. He pretty much only got my neck, during the entire hour massage, I am not even kidding. There was minimal work done to the shoulders, and chest area, but with such a light pressure there was literally no benefit whatsoever. By the time I was left, I felt stressed out and in dire need to take a shower. Waste of time and money, I HIGHLY recommend finding somewhere else if you are an athlete or are looking for any kind of serious relief to come from your massage. read more

Mediocre Massages - Auto Renewal NIGHTMARE Full story: I signed up for the monthly member program. A few months later I became pregnant & they didn't have any prenatal masseuses on their staff. I spoke with the manager, she understood and suspended my membership as to not be auto charged, but with the option to come back at the same rate after I had my baby. Membership was not suspended & come to found out 8 months charged. Call to cancel and have refunded. Tried to speak to Peter multiple times. Over weeks. Waited for him to call me- never did. Finally an email, which he explained he was only able to refund 4 massages bc that's as far as their system would let him. I should have requested Venmo, cash, check for the remaining... My husband & I go to use up the remaining massages (post baby now) and they are mediocre at best. I've had better massages at a nail salon. THEN I get an email my membership will renew on 10/31. I email Peter the owner, nothing, no reply. I call the manager Nancy to cancel AGAIN. She says I will still be charged since it's not within 30 days and the massage credit I still have I won't be able to after I terminate my membership. Absolute nightmare. I don't even want to get massages here. I can't tell you how many times I've spoken to Nancy on the phone over this ordeal. Something I never want to do again, ridiculous that I've had this much communication with a massage business in the first place. And no Peter has never called me despite my extreme frustration. She says it's their contract and she can give us a gift card with the credit. First of all, as a business owner myself, it's very easy to make amends to contracts for customer satisfaction. I went today for what was supposed to be relaxation but instead was frustrated for the full 90 minute massage. My therapist was Makenna, I told her I liked it light and just wanted to relax. Her massage technique was such that often times she had one hand on, running one finger up and down the area she was working on. At one point I told her I like a two handed massage with massage strokes. She said "well that is massage, but okay" and continued to use the same technique for the remainder of the massage. After I dressed she pulled me back in the room to tell me that sports massages were her specialty and referred me to Brittany or Oscar as they do the kind of massages I like. My husband and I received gift cards for this location for Christmas and finally had the opportunity to use them last weekend. The husband's dad raves about Tom and really wanted my husband to see him, so I scheduled Tom for him and I was scheduled with Torrey. We arrived early to get our paperwork completed and our therapists were ready to see us right on time. The environment is calming, professional and the reception staff were friendly. Our therapists were also professional and asked what we wanted and gave good direction for getting ready. I get regular massages and have been seeing the same therapist for about 19 years so I know what I like, but I also enjoy cheating on her and trying out other therapists to see the differences in styles, etc. I also belonged to Massage Envy a few times when my therapist was taking a maternity leave, so I have had a lot of experience with multiple massage therapists. What I enjoy is very firm pressure, but a therapist that massages with their hands versus their elbows or even forearms. I find that a full body massage in only 55 minutes is a challenge so I considered just having some key areas massaged, but decided to go for the full body and see how that worked out. Torrey had excellent ability with firm pressure. She can go deep with her hands, so that was nice. I had mentioned that I had been experiencing lower back pain so she spent a little extra time there, which was great, but I think the feet suffered as they didn't get much attention, which was a little disappointing. Overall, I thought Torrey did a good job, but with more experience to learn to feel her way a little more and get a little smoother in her execution, she has the potential to be great. If you like a deeper massage and are willing to have someone with less experience, I would absolutely recommend Torrey. My suggestion isto be sure you point out the areas you want massaged if you're going for the full body in the short time so that you get the most important areas worked. My husband had never had a massage before, so had no clue what to expect, but he did enjoy it and thought Tom did a good job. Like I said, his dad LOVES Tom, so there is another option! I personally, wouldn't go that far from where I live for a massage and like I said, I already have a therapist I love, but if you're in that area, I would recommend that you give Elements a try. Their membership pricing seems decent, although the "regular price" of $99 for a 55 minute massage seems a little silly, but I'm guessing no one ever pays that price. I was 4 minutes late and I was really bummed but it couldn't be helped and ended up getting only a 40 minute massage of which I paid for an hour. I was willing to lose the 4 minutes of need be, but then my therapist had the shakiest hands and she didn't address the issues I told her about. Great massage!!! I had explained to my therapist that I was getting headaches. He spent extra time for a few minutes showing me stretches I could with my neck to avoid tension headaches. I have managed spas in the past for many years, it is rare to find a therapist that will take time out of their busy schedule to do this. In fact, I have never had that happen. Three and a half stars. Clean. The receptionist was too chatty for my taste but I arrived in pain, other people might not mind. My therapist, Sergio, picked me up late and when I checked my phone before I got on the table it was 2:07 which means he didnt come into the room and begin the massage until 2:10. When the massage ended I got up immediately and checked my phone and it was 2:58. So, that was not 55 minutes hands on but 50 minutes. I mind because I could have used the five minutes for my very tight neck muscles and because well, I'm paying for 55 minutes not 50. The lavender upgrade was forgotten even though I reminded the front desk person before I went in. Sergio took a while to find out what degree of pressure i need so I did not enjoy the first few minutes of the massage at all. However after that the pressure was good and by the time he was working on my focus area (I told him I NEEDED detailed neck work) the massage was over. He said that he wanted to show me stretches but didn't have time which is fine but I thought he said that he would have a hand out but he didn't. Mostly I'm bummed because I could have used the extra five minutes I was shorted and I would have liked to have had my request honored and to have the focus truly be the neck and back and not just the back. When therapists release my back muscles and not my neck muscles it causes my neck to hurt worse. I have horrible chronic neck pain for which I have had thousands of massages. I am giving this membership a chance knowing that I need regular massage for my pain and hoping that the kinks can be worked out- both literally and figuratively. read more

The location was about 5 mins from my house. The front receptionist staffs were so helpful and polite. I figured that it would be the perfect gift for her since we just had a baby and I know her shoulders had been hurting her. So time passes and I get a call from the wife saying she is one the way home. But as I look at the clock I notice that she is 5 minutes early. So asked when did your message end she said a little over 5 minutes ago. So long story short started a few minutes late to start the massage and ending 5 minutes early equals a 75 minute massage instead of a 90.
