After trying countless physical therapists, chiropractors, & other like practices, nothing seemed to help my back and neck pain. I have been coming to Olea for about 6 months now & have been working with Jamie. She is AMAZING. Our first couple sessions consisted of her finding stretches and other movements that tend to my needs specifically. I can't believe I haven't written a review for Olea yet! My fiancee found Olea for me. I tweaked my shoulder pretty severely the night before a big performance and as the amazing person that he is, he googled Olea and booked an appt for me that night with the session being immediately the morning after. Already, 5 stars for being able to accommodate me within less than 12 hours and he was able to pre-pay them as well! My therapist, Katie, worked with me to fix me and relieve my pain temporarily but the best part was that she gave me exercises and showed me how to relieve pain on my own. That was gold! She was so. freaking. good that immediately after I started seeing her once a month for close to 6 months. During this time she really took the time to assess me properly, work on specific areas and cater my sessions to me + my body. Every session was phenomenal and I really learned a lot. Now I go back here and there. I can go back to get some real bodywork done or I can go back when I just feel like I need a zen, relaxing massage. I love that I can get whatever type of massage that I need in that moment. This is truly a gem in Charlotte! Definitely love the staff and the receptionist. I won't see anyone else. While the therapists are very good, the overall experience is tedious and stressful. First, the booking and fees have become overly complicated, no longer offering a one hour massage, you can only book a "single session" of 45 minutes; or a double for 100 minutes and the pricing is hidden until the last step. Also, they no longer use draping so you have to wear clothing and you're exposed while they work on you. It's not relaxing or comfortable. Oh and they also charge you 4% more if you use a card to pay, but in order to book you must use a card. Something that is supposed to be relaxing really shouldn't be so bizarrely complicated and high-maintenance. I just cannot recommend this place anymore. read more

After a disappointing previous session with Kayla, I went for half hour session with Lena. Lena is skillfully assessed and addressed the chronic lower pain that I have been struggling to deal with. I'm coming back to see Lena. I'm updating my review to 5 stars for Lena. I went to see Lena again for my lower back pain. I couldn't even sit or walk without a constant nagging dull pain before treatment. After an hour session with Lena, my lower back pain improves significantly. With starting A new job and traveling I have been getting tension headaches and specifically carrying tension through my shoulders that has sent radiating pain into my neck and back. I read about Olea On yelp and the reviews were all overwhelmingly positive and thought to give it a try to get rid of my neck and shoulder pain. Victoria was able to do in an hour what ibuprofen and two other massage sessions at other places had not been able to. She was amazing. We're first-timers at this studio and we didn't expect such a relieving experience. We showed up sore from CrossFit and Victorias' magical hands hit at all the right spots. What makes this place unique is their knowledge of anatomy and perfect application of the massage technique. Pro tip for first timers, get their early to fill out their questionnaire and it's beneficial to the entire process. I hesitate to make this public...I'd rather just keep it my little secret and let the rest of you find your own massage therapist. Lena is hands down (pun intended) the best massage therapist I have ever been to. It all started a few years ago when she worked for another massage company in the area. Shortly after I started going to her, she disappeared and I was so sad...until now! After recently waking up in neck and shoulder pain due to a lot of stress, I called Olea via Yelp search and by sheer luck got fit in the same day. Once I arrived and saw her, it was a welcomed reunion. Lena went and studied how to treat musculoskeletal pain. She is able to target which muscles are overworking and basically does a muscle tune-up. I left feeling much better and had a few different recommended exercises to also prevent further pain. Not only does Lena work on muscle pain, once you are back to feeling better, she provides the regular, Swedish relaxation massages. She shares a studio with a chiropractor and parking is a bit tricky. It's not a spa-like environment in any way, you go for one outcome only = feel like a new person. I would highly encourage you to call to get in, but under the premise that you don't interfere with me getting an appointment since she is only one person. read more

Here is why OLEA is the best: A. I have had various types of massages from spa type to therapeutic. My intent in seeking treatment here was totally therapeutic and Lena EXCEEDED my expectations. She has an awesome bedside manner and is extremely knowledgable regarding pain trigger points. This Christmas, I received a gift certificate for a massage from my boyfriend. Lucky for me, I ended up with Lena and I was instantly hooked! Lena is so talented. She listens to exactly what you request, and she makes you feel extremely comfortable. I alternate between the Swedish and the Deep Tissue, and I always leave so relaxed and happy. I am in sales, so I'm always knotted up and tense from stress, and her massages are one of the only things that helps me relax and feel refreshed and rejuvenated. If there is a better massage therapist in Charlotte, I haven't met them yet. Lena is thorough and excellent in what she does. I am training for a marathon and am having typical aches and pains... Each time I come in, we discuss target areas and she asks questions to figure out what the root of the problem is. In terms of her skill at giving a massage... truly, truly excellent. I have had about a dozen massages over the years and have always felt that it could have been better... not so with Lena. Lucky for me, when I moved to Charlotte I checked Yelp and found Lena at Olea Massage. I will never go anywhere else! WOW! Oleana is a great massage therapist! I was skeptical walking in. You never know what you are going to get at some of these little massage places that are just one room in an old house shared with other businesses.....but she seriously is amazing. I only had time for a 30 minute massage, but I will totally be back for another. I left feeling completely relaxed. She shares a waiting room with a few other businesses. Then her massage room is upstairs. The massage room is very comfortable. She had nice music playing and a heated table, which is a must for me in a massage! My only suggestion would be to have more comfortable chairs in the waiting lobby area. Oleana had very soft hands, which is something else you want in a massage therapist. Rough hands are never good and can be distracting. She went over my health history sheet and we talked about what problem areas I had. She listened well and followed through on the massage. Phenomenal!!! I recently received a neuromuscular massage from Lena, and it was the best I've received in a while. Very professional, attentive, and knowledgeable. She applied great pressure throughout the session, and she made sure I was comfortable throughout, and I left feeling much better. Just got back from a massage and decided to let everybody know what a great massage therapist we have in town. Located right by Freedom Park it is very convenient for me. The inside is very relaxing and calm. There is an acupuncturist in the house, so maybe next time i will schedule a session with him too. Ok now about a massage, since that's what counts more then anything, right? I came because my neck was hurting and Olena did a great job, she did go deep and found where the problem was, not like some therapist that just touch your skin. I have been struggling with chronic lower back pain for the better part of a year now and have tried just about everything under the sun. Never ending doctor's appointments, acupuncture, chiropractic work, dry needling, months of physical therapy, cortisone injections, countless medications, other therapeutic massages, and stretching and all I was able to do was make it bearable enough to survive the day. The evening after my initial appointment with Katie, my pain flared up and was pretty uncomfortable (which I have found is actually the norm with any kind of significant work on it) but what astounded me is that in the days that followed, my back pain was virtually non-existent. I have been taking aspirin by the handful just to get to a tolerable pain level and now, it seems to be almost getting rid of it completely. I still have that niggling back pain at points during the day, but the improvement has been mind blowing. I signed up for their VIP membership and plan to go back and see Katie AT LEAST once a month until I have conquered this pain once and for all. Regardless of the improvement I've seen, it was also one of the first appointments I'd been to where I felt actually heard and understood. She didn't just work on me and let me walk out afterwards and leave it at that - she gave me tips on how to change my sitting and standing posture, some other things to do and not to do at home and explained why this may be so persistent. I have had two massages at Olea (one by Katie and one by (O)Lena), both of which sought to help relieve me of pain primarily in my neck and shoulders. Without a doubt, both massages rank as the top two massages I've had in the past several years. Exactly what I was looking for. Forget the gimmicks and BS, just a friendly place where they know what they are doing and are good at it. I personally went in for a sports massage for extreme tightness. Jennifer was amazing killings the problem areas and the muscles tightened around previous injuries (of which I have a few). it's been about an hour since I finished and I haven't been this comfortable laying down in years. It pains me to have to update this review from five to one star. I have gotten a massage at Olea several times now and the service remains superb. However, the last two times the hold on my credit card was charged instead of falling off my credit card. Although the $1 hold is not a material amount and was refunded both times after I contacted Olea, the repetitive nature of the hold being changed vs taken off leads me to believe that this is normal course of business at Olea. And $1 for every customer will likely add up to a sizable amount every month. I cannot condone this practice. Hence, the change in review. The last time I have contacted Olea, I pointed out that this practice needs to be corrected. Aside from the refund, I have received no response. Consequently, my assumption is that credit card holds will continue to be charged on top of the fee for the massage. Previous review: Don't look any further for a massage therapist in the Charlotte area. Lena is a true gem and I'm incredibly happy to have found her. Her knowledge of the human body is impressive. She not only zeroed in on the my trouble spots, but also left me with instructions on how to stretch to avoid further difficulties. I just had the best massage of my life with Erica! I know that might sound a bit extreme, but it's the truth. Her knowledge of body mechanics, and how different muscles interact and compensate for each other was superb!!!! I have been to Olea twice now. I had my first session with Lena and my second with Erica. With Lena, my session focused on evaluation and figuring out what I can do between sessions to help my body. I have osteoarthritis and osteonecrosis in my hip and essentially no cartilage in my joint. In a way, I'm lucky that I know the basic root cause of my discomfort; however, even knowing how connected everything in the body is, I was surprised the extent to which my body has been effected. Lena is very informative and direct and will really work you over! I'll admit that there were parts of my session that left me a little ouchy afterwards, but knowing exactly what was being done and why and also knowing that I have a lot of damage that's been doing internally, it was definitely worth it. Anyway, the session was fantastic. I got some immediate relief and some exercises to work on to help retrain my brain and activate some muscles that have not been doing what they're supposed to do. My second session was with Erica. This session incorporate some of the bodywork techniques like Lena has used in my first session with some massage work - a little closer to what one things of when they think of a massage (particularly a deep tissue massage), but still more of a serious bodywork session. I think it's important to know what to expect when you're going in for bodywork rather than even a deep touch relaxing massage! This has been the best place I've gone for the serious work. I've had other good deep tissue and sports massages in Charlotte, but the bodywork here is really effective. Can't wait for my next session. read more
