Excellent alterations done safely during COVID-19 pandemic. I dropped off seven items with every kind of fix: blind stitch hems, closing holes, full dress alteration, shortening the length of a jumpsuit and fixing buttons. Everything was fixed exactly as discussed and within a 24 hour turn around time. Elena wore a mask the whole time and had sanitizer available next to her plexiglass barrier. The service is amazing! Elena was so professional and friendly from the moment I called to ask about alterations to the delivery of my dress. This might be another long one...y'all know I'm detailed. No doubt in my mind that Elena is a good seamstress. What I look for in any business I patronize is great AND consistent customer service. I am spending money I work for(as you do too) so I expect good customer service and I do not settle for anything less (and you shouldn't either). Good customer service is what makes and breaks a business. I feel compelled to highlight the places I have been to that has delivered poorer customer service so that maybe they may read these reviews and level up (as if ) . So, with that being said...here we go! I've been to the shop three times...I have not to be greeted upon entering on each occasion...I have had to speak first. Although, when waiting other customers walked in and were warmly spoken to. Bad sign to me. Fist visit i dropped off a dress to be altered, took measurements, received a ticket and left. Before leaving I was told I would receive a text when my dress was ready. I received a text the next day notifying me that my dress was ready...must admit I was pleased with the speed of work. I went in that [next] day and tried on the dress. The wasn't as contoured at the waist as I wanted it, however, the alteration was done without flaw. I noticed that I wanted the hem let out and told Elena. She responded as if she were annoyed by my request. I said to myself, no big deal, maybe she's inundated with her workload...I think it's good to give people the benefit of the doubt. Anyway, she told me how much it would be extra and that she will text me when my dress was ready, again on the next day. Ok great! I said my goodbyes and left the shop. Next day, I received no text...I waited until about 5:15pm before calling. They close at 6pm. When I called the phone rang a few times to many for me...I thought for a minute maybe the shop was closed early and I won't have the dress I need for tomorrow. However, someone answered and just said "Hello"... I responded "Is this Elena's Alterations?", the person who answered said "Yes." I'm thinking wouldn't you answer your business phone properly...anyway, that's kind of trivial so I didn't care. I then told the person who I was and that I wanted to check on my dress, "was it ready for pick up...?" She answered me saying "yes, it was ready last night, I texted you." Hmmmm...I told her that I only received one text and that was before I requested the hem be let out. "I never received your text." is what I told her, she insisted she texted me. I checked my phone, because maybe I'm mistaken...but nope, NO text message. I erased the first (and only) text I received because I did not pick up my dress on my second visit. I left the dress there for an additional service. So, if she would have texted me for the second service, her text would be brand new. I CANNOT stand when people out right lie to me, it burns me up. Forasmuch as I would like would like to continue to patronize this business I cannot on principle. I enjoy being greeted upon arrival of entering an establishment, it makes me feel welcomed and that my business is appreciated. I know you know what I mean...right? AND I cannot tolerate a liar, it's so disrespectful and insulting to my (our) intelligence. For these reasons I give two stars and will not be back. This place is ok. I think I my expectations were way too high based on so many of the positive reviews I read beforehand. Had a couple of jeans altered. Done in a speedy way & cheap but they could have paid more attention to detail. (The stitching was all kinds of crooked but I guess you get what you pay for.) Elena is literally the Fairy Godmother from Cinderella. Like always, my boyfriend and I had some last minute alterations to be done for a wedding the next day. Elena and her staff were warm and friendly. I took in a formal dress that I needed for a black tie wedding. I had gone somewhere a few days before to get a quote and that person quoted me $50. I came to Elena's based on Yelp reviews and I was not disappointed. She quoted me $25! An amazing deal. She finished in only a few days and did a fantastic job. The person at the other alteration place said my dress "was very difficult" but Elena never said that and didn't make any complaints about the task. It's definitely hard to find somewhere to take your clothes for alterations and trust that they come back perfect. After searching and reading previous reviews I decided to bring some items here. I took a pair of leggings, a pair of bell bottoms, and a maxi skirt to Elena's for alterations because I'm so short. She did mention she could have the items ready same day but I didn't need it for about a week. The day after I dropped my items off I received a text letting me know my items were ready for pick up. I just picked them up and tried them on and they are PERFECT! I was hesitant because I have tried other places and have gotten my items back way too short. I love going to Elena's place for any alterations. I have been taking my stuff to her way back when she was in the Compton Swap Meet. When she move I walk around asking other shops in the swap meet what happen to her. I tracked her down at her new location. She does excellent work. I have told my entire family about her. Her work ethics are great. She is very detail. She doesn't just take your money just to take it. I was trying to have a skirt taken in, she told me not to because it would be to tight and pull then rip.
