The office is rather new, just a couple of years old, and always tidy. Their waiting room is somewhat small, but there's a TV, a Keurig, and bottled water. Oh, and a fish tank. Their dental suites appear state-of-the-art, but what do I know. X-rays are taken in the rooms, and displayed on their widescreen monitors. The doctors do an excellent job of explaining any issues you may have, and how they can be treated. There are no pressure-tactic sales, either. I've been a patient here for over 2 years and it's always a pleasure. Well, not a "pleasure" per se, I mean it is a dental clinic -- but it's a pleasure in as much as a dental visit can be a pleasure. The gentlest dentist's office I've ever been to…read more I've been going to South Flores for a little over a year now and am so sad it had taken me so long to find them. These guys are the literal best. Everyone at the office is so kind and seems to make a point of making visits as stress free as possible. The receptionists have always treated me kindly and have not rushed me when I'm scheduling with them or have additional questions, the hygienists are professional but talk you through every step so you aren't surprised as to what's going on or what happens next, and the dentists themselves are quick but efficient in handling the concerns brought up. I'd mentioned tooth hypersensitivity in one area and the hygienist went out of her way to numb the location for my routine cleaning and the dentist went over possible advanced solutions to help. I ended up getting a filling over the area which has helped the sensitivity immensely. At no other office I've tried prior have they offered to numb the location to help with the discomfort or be proactive about the issue when I've brought attention to it. I never thought it I could be such a simple fix, but they took the time to care and the issue's been mostly resolved. It's absolutely worth noting that the hygienists and the dentists aren't rough in the slightest and have the gentlest touch. While I myself don't have dentist anxiety, I'm sure this must be a relief for those that experience it. I highly recommend this office if you do have dentist anxiety or are simply looking for a new dentist. You won't regret it.

I'm not very familiar with the San Antonio area just yet (I'm new here) so I came across dr. Alvarado on ZocDoc and he just happened to be the first doctor on the list. The entire week before my appointment, i had anxiety and i was scared of the pain that was yet to come! Literally - every video i watched, made it seem as if it's gonna be one of the worst experiences ever. A huge thank you to Dr. Alvarado & his assistant for taking care of me because they proved me wrong that i shouldn't be scared. He was very cool, went into details about everything I should know or wanted to know. Really understanding as well! Being that I don't live close to the area, he gave me an option about the procedure.. either take the local anesthetic (& be awake the entire time) or make another appointment so that another doctor could come in (& i can sleep through the procedure). Decided to take the local anesthetic instead even though I was scared lol but he made it a reallllyyy smooth procedure and before i know it, it was over in less than 45-50 minutes for all 4! Every staff member was very kind to me and my bf! If you're waiting for someone, they have a tv in the waiting room and they let you choose a movie lol. Also as a patient, you get to choose what you want to watch during the procedure if you're lying down! The TV was facing towards the floor which i thought was cool and different in a dental room for once lol. The interior design is also beautiful! Big windows with views (it's tinted so don't worry about strangers driving by staring at you). Looks exactly what you'd expect UPDATE ON MY GUMS/TEETH: healed nicely and quickly. So thankful i got them out because they were causing so much pain.

She was a wonderful assistant, a true asset to the office, and a real loss when she left. I always enjoyed my visits, and I appreciated watching how confidently Dr. Martinez worked. Things changed when Mary joined the office. I felt she was not honest with me about scheduling, and I brought my concerns directly to Dr. Martinez, hoping he would address the issue. Nothing changed. Later, when I needed another dentist to review my records, I asked Mary to transfer them. She was impatient, told me she would take care of it, and never did. That incident made my decision clear. I wish Dr. Martinez had taken my concerns seriously when we spoke, but because nothing was done, I will not be returning to his office. I have since found another dentist whose office is just as skilled and far more caring and friendly. In my opinion, Mary hurt his practice, and it is unfortunate that the problems were not addressed when they were brought to his attention.

In coming here for an initial cleaning and exam, I noticed a lot of differences from my usual Dallas dentist. One, they don't use a different polish on veneers than on regular teeth (which my previous dentist did). Two, the tech who worked on my teeth was rough, especially on the gum line around my veneer. And three, while the office design was nice, the technology they used for the cleaning was a bit old-school (dated). I'm just used to a practice that uses newer forms of cleaning and polishing procedure. As I was private pay, the total was $250+, which is highway robbery for a simple cleaning. I go every few months, so my teeth are almost always never a problem. I was in and out in 30-40 minutes. The cost didn't come anywhere near equating to the experience. My search for a dentist in SA continues.
