Sweat drips down skin,…read more Breathing in rhythm, relax, Thrive in Thamva heat. Thavma easily beat my expectations. The studio (Sarasota) was beautiful and zen. The teachers were great. The classes were challenging. I tried the two week trial (Nov 2021) and am now on my second year. The best thing about the teachers was their attention to detail: they make sure to watch your alignment and constant remind us of the right adjustments to make the poses correctly and safe. But they were also friendly and fun and the classes had lots of people that had clearly been members for a while. Their 26+2 class is a slight variation of Bikram, so if you know that or Google it, you will know what to expect. I enjoyed those classes very much. Just know there are slight and intentional variations and you should follow them and not show how you can do the "real" poses. The Red Thavma is basically Yoga + Pilates + Abs + Sauna. This is a great way to tone up and burn calories if that is your thing. The Black Thavma is a harder version of Red (less resting). I highly recommend their $39 two week all-you-can-yoga pass. Try to commit to 6-8 classes as the first one will seem hot enough to make you give up, but you get use to it and learn to pace yourself. I think it is easy to get addicted, and I did love it. Hints: get well hydrated 3-4 hours before class, sip water in class, definitely take a sweat towel for your mat and another for you face. Take (cold) water for sipping in class and take a sports drink for afterwards. They have showers, but if you don't wash off, then take a towel for your car seat. They supply a strap and block and when I forgot my mat they lent me a free one -but they normally charge $2 Do it!

Yolanda and all the instructors were so welcoming. They emphasize doing what you can, as you can and that yoga is a practice within your own self and capabilities. I love the mix of older bodies, younger bodies, men & women and bigger bodies (like my own). If you are scared that you can't do it, don't be. Give it a try. I need to opt out 3-5 times during each class for a bit. That's totally fine. No one cares! Excellent business with a lovely vibe. Clean and bright.

I'm visiting from out of town and was looking forward to fitting in a yoga class while on vacation. After researching several studios, I chose this one. Unfortunately, my navigation took me to the wrong location, and I ended up running behind. I called multiple times for assistance with directions but was unable to reach anyone. By the time I found the studio, class was scheduled to begin in about three minutes. I assumed I could at least speak with someone at the front desk and sign up for a later class. What I didn't realize is that when you enter, you walk directly into the studio space, and the check-in area is located in the back. I introduced myself, explained that I was from out of town, and started to ask about joining a class. Before I could finish, the instructor asked whether I had signed up online. When I said no, she asked for my name. I also let her know that I completely understood if I had missed the opportunity to join and that I would be happy to come back another time. My goal was simply to locate the studio and know what to expect for a future visit. The interaction felt surprisingly cold and dismissive. The instructor explained that she hadn't answered the phone because she was there preparing for class and it was about to begin. That was understandable, and I reiterated that I wasn't upset and was perfectly willing to attend a different class. However, the conversation remained brief and unwelcoming. I think I felt as small as an ant and having to walk back through the class after that awful interaction was humiliating. I fully understand that studios have policies and arrival requirements, and I would have had no issue if I had simply been told, "We ask new students to arrive 15 minutes early to sign in, but we'd love to have you back for another class." Instead, I left feeling more stressed than when I arrived. Yoga is often associated with mindfulness, patience, and compassion, so the experience was disappointing and not at all what I expected. I'm not sure you'll want to go to a studio with that type of energy. While I can't speak to the quality of the classes, my first impression as a prospective student and visitor was that it failed on the simplest level, just understanding how to treat others with kindness and compassion. I would have no way of knowing the front desk is in the back as this is not the normal set up for businesses. Again, would not recommend them. Safe to say I won't be returning.
