The owner robbed me after I cancelled on the first day. I am a person with medical problems and I couldn't perform the exercise program. I stated that during the interview. They do not offer an appropriate program for people like me or the elderly who require a careful slower pace. I had a great experience here doing the 21-day challenge. Chris was very helpful and supportive the entire time and both trainers I worked with (Theo being one of them) were very friendly. I ended up losing close to 9lbs within those 21 days in only 9 sessions. I wasn't pressured to enroll in more classes and was refunded my initial challenge fee as soon as I returned the heart monitor. I saw an ad on Instagram for a 30 day challenge and figured, why not? I signed up for a consultation and met with Monea and a few other potential participants. She was super friendly and gave us a lot of information. The challenge entailed "renting" a heart monitor which was $150 that would track your workouts and you following a protein heavy diet, drinking 2 protein shakes and 2 meals per day. There are a bunch of apps that you have to download - one to register for the class, one to track your heart rate, one for your weigh in, which you do at the Nutrishop down the street. First 2 workouts I was a bit overwhelmed and confused - there are different stations, some are timed, some you switch off with your partners. I was also paying attention to the screen and noticing my colors, wasn't in the zones I should be. But by my 3rd workout which was probably the toughest, I got into my groove and finally hit the red zone! They also have you send them pics of what you are eating and will help adjust your eating plan. Overall this gym is clean, great equipment and excellent staff! Very family oriented feel. read more

Review isn't about the classes or the staff as I did not sign up, but about the advertising. Saw a post on Instagram & Facebook about a free 30 day membership. I have joined a boot camp fitness establishment before so I'm no stranger to it and wanted to do the 30 days to kickstart myself back into these kind of intense circuits. However, as things are, free isn't really free. You're required to rent a heart monitor at $15 a week as they are mandatory for the class and eventually you can pay the difference to completely own it so you don't have to rent it anymore. There are other locations that don't require you to rent equipment. Or essentially structure their business in a way that sells heart monitors/forces you to buy. Other thing is the pricing was $159 for 4 classes a week. The place I used to go to (1A Fitness) back in 2018-2019 was $150 a month for unlimited. They dropped a coach I enjoyed from the program so I stopped attending. I went to go look at them after leaving Elevate as it would have been a better deal. They have since gone up to $179 a month if you sign up for a 12 month contract. But, still unlimited so you can go as much as you want and no gimmicky heart rate monitor stuff. Don't get me wrong, people still see improvement from here and stuff I assume with all the mostly good reviews. This is just about the advertisement to save anyone some commute time if they wanted to check out the supposedly free membership. Also required to put a credit card on file during the sign up. I cannot say enough positive things about Elevate! Everything from the customer service, personalized workout and meal plan from the coaches to the amazing trainers who create classes full of incredible energy, challenging movements and great music! The coaches and trainers are very personable and attentive. They meet with you 30 minutes before your first class to review your goals, needs, any injuries you may have and set you up with the appropriate apps to track your fitness journey and sign up for classes. The program is very straight forward and explained thoroughly which we can all appreciate. They change the movements up each class so you don't get tired of the same thing--each day is something new! Other members taking class are very positive and motivating creating a team-like environment which I love! In addition to great classes and a full support system they have monthly events either inside or outside of the gym. It's been a really fun way to get to know other members and the Elevate staff. A couple call outs from a previous review left by Christine C that I wanted to touch on because they are far from what my experience has been.... "No signage"? There is signage in the front and rear of the building making it easy to find. There is also a large parking lot in the back which is great and not typical for Pasadena! "Craziness"? I can understand how the class may seem this way if you are late or fail to meet with the instructors prior to class starting. The instructor goes over each station and each movement in full detail prior to the class beginning which makes for a very smooth 50 minute class. I have been in classes where people show up 20 minutes late. Even though this disrupts class, the instructor always finds a spot for them, but cannot stop the class to go over the movements one on one with you. Usually classmates will help fill you in. Everyone has a busy schedule and they do a great job staying on time! I highly recommend arriving 10 minutes prior to class or at least on time...you get out of it, what you put into it. I have taken class from all three trainers, Jake, Pat and Devon--they are professional, motivating and highly qualified. Very good circuit training in a supportive team environment. I arrived to class late and was a little confused at first, but got a lot of help from classmates and had a great workout. You can opt-in for heart rate display, which is unexpectedly high-tech for a smaller gym like this one. Good music and sound system. Careful when entering from parking lot. There are two doors beneath the "Elevate" sign. To the left is where I first entered. It's a psychic healing business. I think most ills of the soul are better remedied through sweat, so enter through the door on the right, which is the entrance for Elevate. read more

I wanted to wait to give this review because I have not EVER stuck with a gym membership before or any kind of workout regiment. So much money down the drain. But..nah-uh. Not at elevate. Chris, Jake, and Patric are so awesome. Super sweet and motivated about getting your butt into shape. Oh, I should mention that I have been a member for over 3 months now but there are other members who have been with Elevate for years. High fives to you people! BOOM! Every time I go its always a different circuit. So you never get bored and the music is always on point, hard not to wanna dance. Anyways,...I believe that is why I still go because I'm not bored. I also feel supported and I meet like-minded people on the same journey. All shapes and sizes up in this mofo! I will say it is a lot of women and that's rad. I love that. A lot of gyms feel dominated by men....especially when you wanna pump some iron. So I'm getting a lot out of my Elevate membership and I'm deeply grateful for all their hard work and experience. This gym helped me get back into working out to be healthier, stronger, and more fit! Its been about 4 mobths since I started going to Elevate. I found this gym through Groupon and walked in to find out that they had free 30 day challenge. I initially took the offer with intention of gym hopping after i took advantage.. Then i fell in love with the classes and the people. The prices are reasonable to me as well whrn you divide out the monthly by number of classes. Some people describe it as boot camp, some describe it as metabolic conditioning.. I tell them i do circuits! I love how I work with others and it keeps me challenged and encouraged. I dont think its for everyone but if you like it, you will fall in love with it more and more! Its definitely worth trying. Schedule is available via Mindbody app, offered morning and evening, Monday through Saturday (no PM classes on Sat though). I have not had issues signing up for classes and i dont have issues finding parking. Its located behind another gym and i usually enter through the alley. Jake and Patric are both awesome instructors! I choose my classes based more on schedule time and type. During the weekdays they offer Elevate and Row Circuits which i look at it as strength heavy (elevate) and cardio heavy (row). I love both :) the instructors acknowledge everyone in the class and make effort to interact. They are also knowledgeable and friendly! I frequently ask questions regarding forms. Chris is super friendly too and very available for any questions on scheduling or payments. No AC so on hotter days it can get intense. But even with AC, you would be sweating up a storm so it wouldnt matter! I feel great after every workout. Water is definitely needed! So I am 2 weeks into my 30 day challenge. I decided to try Evening classes with trainer Jake. Oh man...Jake was just as intense and motivating So this class was backed and high energy. I am happy I finished the classes. The members of the class were all friendly and motivated too. I am having a blast losing weight, getting in shape, and best of all feeling healthy. I started my fitness journey by May this year. I joined Elevate to broaden my knowledge about workouts and diet plans. I must admit these workouts are intense!! LOL, compared to a regular day at the gym. Definitely something new for me. My main concern is my strength, so I'm tryna build muscle mass more than lose weight. So let them know what your goal is and they will help you on what to eat and for the correct forms of each workout. Each of their trainers (Jake, Patrick and Devon) have their own styles and sets every class. They're very helpful and nice. Sending your food to them is also helpful to keep track of what you eat and to keep track of your diet. This was definitely a challenge, but the staff made it super fun and they keep you motivated. Solid 3.5/5. So I came here for a month on a Groupon and I definitely sweated hard, increased my strength, and most importantly, feel healthier. Most of my review will focus on the studio itself. The crowd here is great; everyone is very encouraging, works hard and pushes themselves vs other gyms where I feel bad because they already look like fitness models. When I first came in, I got a fitness assessment done which was awesome because they check your form and tell you which weight to use which is great. Great first impression. Classes started off tough and confusing because they tell you the entire routine at the start of each class. Luckily, they review each station. The area of the gym they use is very crowded, and some stations I feel like I am going to hit someone (looking at YOU pass throughs and KB swings...). They definitely pack many exercises in the tiny platform. After a couple classes, you notice there is NO variation in workouts. The exercises are the same but all in different order each class due to limited equipment and space. Not enough back focus for exercises IMO. Jake has more variations in the workout than Patrick. They also dont do any form checks during the workout and a lot of people can potentially injure themselves based on how they do things. The gym itself if you are a Classpass user is nothing close to being boutique like other gyms. Equipment is old and worn, some parts of the floor (flat area) are uneven, mats are torn, and they dont wipe down between classes. This place is pretty gritty. Ventilation is minimal. Its attached to another gym which has good air though (this is where the water cooler is). Street parking. This gym is recommended if you wanna sweat hard, but not if u want a more boutique/personalized gym experience. read more

Jake is GREAT. I signed up for a TRX class after getting a Groupon ($45 for 10 classes), and I actually went into the class a little reluctant, thinking it wasn't going to be that great. MAN, was I wrong! The class was KILLER. And it wasn't just an upper body workout like you'd think it'd be. It was an FULL body workout. It is nonstop, heart-pumping, full body, let's-do-some-cardio WORKout. I was sweating like a pig the ENTIRE time. Loved it. I can't wait to use the rest of my 9 classes! Also, they offer a body analysis that I ended doing also. It tells you body fat, how much muscle you have in each part of your body, and all this crazy info about your body. It costs $40, but it's a great way to track your workout progress to show you yours results through science! Awesome place. read more

Man it's been a great experience, all of the staff here at Elevate are Welcoming and Nice. The workouts are Fun and inventive, Elevate Also does a great job of creating a positive environment to meet people working towards the same goals. Devon, Patrick and Jake really explain every workout and make sure you understand each workout so that your never lost or practicing bad form, (and will modify if need be to ensure results) Facility is kept up and always modifying.Staff knows you by name which makes you feel welcomed every time you come in for a workout. Staff are great at explaining how process works, and work with you to make sure you stay engaged and get results. Friday night lights is fun and exciting feels like working out in a club. I love elevate! I've been a member now for about a year and a half. I started out doing group classes and eventually moved up to add personal training with Jake. I have not only been continually motivated working with them, I have also seen a lot of results. These guys truly care about your health and well being. They are motivated energetic and truly good people. I highly recommend people try them out. They have no sales pressure that you would get from a lot of places and they don't bombard you with emails. The feeling of "BLAH," stemming from (far too extended) periods of physical inactivity and inappropriate nutritional choices brought me to Invicta Fitness. A convenient location combined with a Groupon deal incentivized giving the gym a chance. I read through many of the Yelp reviews, regarding Invicta Fitness, prior to purchasing the Groupon voucher. Most of the reviews were extremely complimentary but there were a few reviews that were less flattering. I decided to purchase the Groupon deal and attend routine classes (at least twice a week) for a month before sharing my thoughts. First item, from some of the Yelp reviews there seemed to be confusion regarding the Groupon deal. I cannot speak for any experience other than my own so please don't take my thoughts as disrespect. When I purchased the Groupon, I called Invicta Fitness soon thereafter where I talked to Chris. Chris scheduled an assessment/strength test where he clearly laid out the terms of the Groupon deal and scheduling classes. My respective voucher included 10 classes. Those classes needed to be exhausted in 30 days from the Groupon purchase. In the event I had a class or two left towards the end of the 30 day period, I could contact Invicta (with a day/two notice) to schedule the classes if I wasn't going to make the 30 day cutoff. While it is possible to lose unscheduled/unattended classes I felt that the effort was made, by the gym, to avoid such a scenario. The next item seems to be a big city metropolis/LA County issue...parking! Lol. While the parking situation is unique and at your risk (of possibly being cited/towed per posted signage) if you park in the lot behind the facility - if you give yourself time to arrive at least10 minutes before the scheduled class then you shouldn't have any issues finding nearby (free) street parking. As for the Invicta Fitness staff/trainers, they are very professional and well-versed in their direction. Jonathan (Founder of Invicta Fitness) appears to have a really solid foundation in his efforts with this gym. In my opinion Jake and Patrick run high-intensity yet positively encouraging Elevate, Row Circuit, and TRX interval programs that if attended regularly yield healthy results. Since I started going to Invicta Chris has participated in numerous classes. That adds value to the customers/students because he can observe and provide feedback to optimize the respective customers' workout. The customers/students are an awesome/eclectic group of folks. Everyone seems to feed off of the vibes of everyone which adds to the experience. In closing, Invicta Fitness has been a win-win for me. The classes are offered at times that work around busy professional schedules. The staff is professional and encouraging and the programs work! I exhausted the Groupon a while back and have since become a member. I would suggest that folks thinking about giving it a go - go ahead and take that leap. The staff here are really friendly and non-judgmental, which is great when you've let yourself slack off as long as I have. Had never done a TRX class before and it wasn't my favorite workout, but i can see how it would be effective. The only trouble I have with it is the 30-day limit on using a 10 class groupon. Wasn't mentioned in the fine print or until I was already activated, so it didn't matter that I was out of town for 13 days of that 30. Only got to use 3 classes, which still wasn't a bad deal, but felt I didn't get enough experience to stick with it. I really enjoyed the Zumba I went to once. Most classes were not that convenient to someone who doesn't work a regular 9-5 schedule, so it wasn't worth buying a package I can barely use. I will probably go back now and then and just pay for single classes, but I wish I could do more there because it seems like a tight knit group and its a good environment for starting this kind of workout. read more

I've been taking classes at Elevate for six months, and I'm hooked! I've been going 2-3 times per week and my results are incredible. In six months I've lost 28lbs of fat and gained 14lbs of lean muscle!!! I cannot say enough good things about the classes and the Elevate team. Patrick and Jake are excellent trainers who put a lot of thought and care into providing total body workout routines that change every session. No two classes are the same. The row and elevate classes are a unique mix of exercises done in 20-30 second segments organized into stations with short breaks in-between. There are different weights and variations you can do for each exercise to match your fitness level. This structure allows you to keep your heart rate elevated throughout the whole class without ever pushing yourself over the edge. The classes are challenging, the people are nice, the music is good, and it makes for an overall fun environment. I have never enjoyed working out before, but now I find myself looking forward to every class. Beyond just offering great classes, Chris goes out of his way to give you a personalized fitness experience. When you first sign up, and every few months after that, Chris will meet with you individually to do an InBody body composition analysis. For the InBody analysis you stand on a scale, hold inductive handles and get a highly detailed report assessing all kinds of stats including your BMI, lean body mass, fat mass, water weight, etc. The report shows your overall stats, and also segmented stats for torso and each arm and leg so you can clearly see how the workouts are helping every part of your body, and which areas are improving the most. Chris will then sit down with you to review the report and track your progress. This is a personal trainer level assessment included for free for having the monthly class membership. Shady, bait-and-switch business practices here...I would definitely avoid. I bought a Groupon for my husband for their TRX classes. GROUPON: -The Groupon said use within 90 days. No problem. My husband redeemed it and was promptly told "Sorry, THAT'S NOT TRUE. We let Groupon list that on our behalf but it's not the actual policy. Actual policy is you have 30 days. But if you have a couple classes left at the end, we can work something out." (these are real quotes from Chris and management) -I spoke to Groupon. They said "This is actually a gray area. We are happy to give you your money back but can't enforce anything from far away." (We all know the kind but powerless people working at Groupon.) -I thought ok, it's still a good deal, even if I don't appreciate this BAIT AND SWITCH tactic. -At the end of the month, my husband had 2 classes left. Chris/management were ONLY WILLING TO HONOR THIS EXTRA CLASSES IF HE BOUGHT A PACKAGE FOR MORE CLASSES. Is that what he meant by "work something out?" That he'll bribe us into coming back? And never mind that the client's wife (me) was in the hospital that month. They just want their cash. So, DOUBLE BAIT AND SWITCH. This is soooo uncool.
