This gym has been such a great fit for me. The atmosphere is positive, the equipment is well-maintained, and the gym is consistently clean. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The staff always makes you feel welcome from the moment you walk in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] One of my favorite things is that I can get through my workout without having to wait around for machines or weights. It's a refreshing change from crowded gyms and makes it easy to stay consistent. Highly recommend

Management has been dishonest. After being a member for a year, I signed up to renew a one year membership for an ongoing promotion with buddy pass for $40 for the whole year. After I signed the contract, the employee told me that the contract I signed was only for the membership and they would cancel my ongoing monthly payment for the buddy pass and charge me $40 for the one year buddy pass. [[HIGHLIGHT]]However, despite speaking with 3 different managers (high turnover) over the last 6 months, they failed to change my buddy pass and are still charging me monthly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They breached my trust so make sure if you do get a promotional offer that it is also in ONE contract, otherwise they will unlikely honor their promise.

My partner and I were excited to check out this gym by our place. We dropped by on Monday, 3/24/25 at about 9pm and asked about a free trial. The person at the desk looked confused and asked me where I had heard about a free trial. I said Yelp (which took me to their website where there was a 7-day free trial button). She said they had just updated their website, and that she didn't recommend the trial because afterward one is obligated to a 12-month membership. (I think we're all adults here capable of deciding whether to cancel or keep a membership going after 7 days, no?) Instead, she recommended I pay for a day pass. Ah, but the weirdness continues: She then said she had to take care of other customers, and looked over to the other staff member at the front desk, who started typing away. I presumed he was looking into this mysterious free trial issue. My partner and I patiently waited a couple minutes, musing other membership deals written on their whiteboard. Then, this fellow just gets up and walks away, ignoring us altogether. I turned to my partner and said "F*** this," and we nodded in agreement and left. We'll try a gym with the bare minimum of manners and happily pay more for that.

Love the atmosphere, really good to gym

Does this place have alot of classes?

Unfortunately not at this location. This gym is the oldest of its kind and the smallest. They also don't have a pool or sauna.

Doe this place have a belt squat?

    Yes it does

How many squat racks/smith machines do they have in this location? Also, do you have a hip thrust machine available? By pictures it's hard to tell. Ty

depends on the location- the pasadena location has a whole leg room in the back- i would say there are about 10 free standing/smith squat racks and 2 glute bridges thruster machines. it’s pretty awesome!

    Do they have basketball courts?

I didn't see any during my visit

Is this a comfortable gym for beginners or people who haven't been to a gym in a while?

    Absolutely

Does the Pasadena location have a pool?

    No they do not

Do they offer any classes yet?

I joined them in Nov because I was told they had spin classes. It lasted about a month & they closed the classes. I left.

Is there showers in the locker room?

    Yes there is.

Is there a steam room or sauna?

    Not at the Pasadena location

    Is there a kids club?

    No there isn't

    Do you have rowing machines?

they have two and they are both broken

Do they have any type of kids club? I'm a widowed parent

    No.

Do they offer group exercise classes?

I agree. There is no suitable space for aerobics and even though they have recently doubled the workout space at the Pasadena location, there still are no classes. I will say that they make every effort to keep the facility clean and have ample…

During Shelter In Place are they requiring reservations? Or is there a line?

No reservations, no line unless they hit capacity.

Will this gym ever open at 5 am? If it were to open at that time I would definitely join. I'm sure others would as well

    Yes they open at 5am

I'm only 5 feet tall and DEEP into my 50s so that means a lot for me. And if you're wondering how I know how much muscle I've gained it's because they have one of those body composition measuring machine thingys. When I first started out I was really nervous. I hate exercising. It's boring and time consuming. I mean I guess it's better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick, but not by much. So I knew I was going to have to pay someone to kick my bum for me since I'm too lazy to do it myself. For me, this is SO worth the investment. All of the trainers are great here. I work mostly with Pam, who I love. Most of the time. But I've worked with other trainers as well and everyone is great. Except for Victor, who has terrible taste in music. (JK Victor I love you!) All the coaches are super supportive and have really pushed me to achieve my best. I am constantly improving. CrossFit 626 is a real community. I really feel like the coaches and clients are so connected. Last Christmas they hosted a holiday party and it was so nice! I have belonged to a number of gyms in the past and none has provided this kind of experience, where the coaches really take a personal interest in YOU and your goals. And this is true not just for private coaching clients but also for people attending regular classes. I seriously doubt you would find this at the average chain-store gym. Thank you CF626!

I think whether it's worth it really depends on how you use it. If you're just using it like a normal gym, it's obviously way overpriced. But if you actually take advantage of the classes and amenities, it is worth it. The floor Pilates classes are free but the reformer classes are extra. The classes are really high quality with good instructors. For me especially because I hate packing stuff and they provide everything you need for all classes. Even for yoga, you don't have to bring anything. You just show up and they have mats, bolsters, blankets, and everything is clean and ready to go. For me personally, I use it as an escape because I can hit the steam room and take a shower sort of like a spa pass. They provide all the bath products too. I'm not a huge fan of the products themselves, they are drying kind of like hotel products,, but at least they're there, so I don't have to think about packing anything. Another thing is that it removed a lot of barriers because they provide towels, which are always clean and fluffy (and I don't have to wash). I can show up in workout clothes with a water bottle and everything else is provided. As with any gym, though, it's not worth it if you don't actually use it. It's also not a huge social scene, which might be a downside for some people but is an upside for me. I can go work out without worrying about having to talk to people or have awkward interactions around equipment. There aren't tons of people taking selfies or clogging up machines and walkways. It also doesn't get super crowded, which I think is partly because of the price point. Those are all huge pluses for me, but I'm on the more introverted side and just trying to work out, not update my social media or make new friends at the gym. I'm basically paying to remove barriers that usually prevent me from going to regular gyms, plus the classes are quality. I don't have to wait for equipment or deal with a bunch of little obstacles that make me less likely to go. They validate parking, which is another big plus. Between the parking, classes, towels, showers, and amenities, there are basically no barriers. The customer service is also really good, I've never had an unpleasant interaction on my way in or out at the front desk, so the whole experience is low stress. I used someone's referral code from here when I joined and got a gift shop credit/didn't have to pay the initiation fee. Everyone I know has been able to join without paying the invitation fee, so don't pay it, they will find a way to waive it because they want your business. I used someone else's link from reddit, but it got taken down. It got the fee waived and I got a credit, so I'm posting my link in case it helps someone else. https://equinox.com/referrals/003A000001TO5GKIA1 Bottom line is it's worth it if it actually gets you to go or you're already paying for classes somewhere else. If you're already paying for yoga classes somewhere else, that's probably close to $100 a month by itself, and you usually don't get all the extra amenities. For me, the biggest value is that it removes barriers and makes it easy and low stress so I don't avoid it. Having everything provided and not having to plan or prepare makes me much more likely to go consistently and yeah, I could save money and go somewhere else, but I wouldn't go, thus my Equinox membership.

I went here exactly once and the Pasadena Equinox is so bad quality and had such horrendous service…read morethat it was enough for me to immediately reach out to GM and Equinox corporate management to request canceling my Equinox membership effective immediately. I've been an Equinox member on and off since 2013 -- and had great experiences at SF Union, SF Pine St, NYC locations, Tyson's and Glendale -- and never again. The Pasadena Equinox deviates from Equinox's documented general corporate policies and expect you to know this despite no signs, no notification and no advance notice (mentioning to members at check-in, etc.) The women's bathroom staff were extremely rude, unevenly applying their policies to prevent people in towels from entering shower and knocking on showers mid-shower to demand people exit mid-shower and saying "it's their policy and we should know" Note no manager was on duty -- I asked to speak to someone during gym business hours and there was no one at the gym to speak to -- and my email to the GM regarding this is unanswered. I'm attaching screenshot of Equinox's corporate policy regarding this -- Pasadena is not in line with the Equinox policy, which is 15 mins before close; not 30 -- and Pasadena doesn't document this anywhere. I can't wait to figure out another gym to support instead ASAP.
