I didn't frequent Peabody's since I have never been a person who loves dancing or DJs. Also, I was outside of Peabody's target demographic of 18-24 year-olds. This was during my "bitter chick rock" phase that still rears its head now and then, and one of my favorite bitter chick bands was L7! I saw their show at Peabody's on April 15, 1997. It was a great venue for this raw, bitter, loud band with a house packed and standing room only of fans trying their best to make a mosh pit. I guess Hole was my second favorite bitter chick band. Back to the L7 show. Classified as grunge, punk, and metal, I think L7 is more chick punk. Their guitarist was unavailable this night, and they replaced her with a local Va Beach chick guitarist who did a great job. The locals recognized her, I didn't. Smoking was allowed inside, and this audience was pretty aggressive for the times, with a lot of college aged guys wearing backwards baseball caps. That's fine, until the guys use their ballcaps as weapons to poke me in the forehead and face to try to keep me out of their mosh pit making range. The goal of the audience was to get to stage front. The audience even resorted to using cigarette lighters to burn each others clothes. Who does this? This show was during "The Beauty Process" tour and the setlist was great with songs from previous CDs including "L7" and other previous music. Par for the course, during "Cat-O-Nine Tails," a guy in leather bondage was brought on stage and then whipped with a whip by Donita, the lead singer. I'm confident this was just a show, and the poor guy wasn't hurt. "The Masses are Asses" is another L7 tune I like. Why no fifth star? The bouncers were interesting. They waited for patrons to make their way to the stage and for the most part, escorted the patron to the door - kicking nearly each one out. The crowd was "elbow to elbow" making it clear it was difficult to just take an overly rowdy and rough patron from the center of the crowd to kick them out. Still, the bouncers were sophomoric, and should have managed the crowd better. I'm happy to have seen L7, I'm happy my party were hurt, and I'm happy Peabody's provided a sizeable venue for an alternative show in the late 90s!

It has plaque describing the contribution of Sidney Kellam King Neptune VI in forming the city of Virginia Beach. It just sits on a concrete extension of the broad walk, a bit underwhelming for such historical landmark. The field across the statues is open to public. People just walk around while going in and out of the beach sand. Bunch of restaurants and shops are nearby to grab food and drinks. The theater is used for scheduled special events. But while visiting the park I noticed few of random people were just sitting on the stage. It felt little sketchy but there was plenty of foot traffic since there was beach shower faucet right across the Neptune statue and the park.

He's a bigger guy and he even said he was chilly. I purchased a long-sleeved shirt from the headliner, and that helped a bit but not enough. And yes, we were in the heart of the crowd. I've really never experienced that at a venue before, and hopefully it was just a fluke? I'd return but only if it's a band I really-really-really want to see.

The girls doing acrobatics on those ropes were working it for sure! I wish my muscles were set up like that!! Lol. I was like a big kid, like wow!!! Akon and the Les Twins also were giving the crowd what we wanted!! Lit lit, and his outfits were nice!! The staff were all friendly! I felt safe and had a blast sincerely. The food is pricey af so be prepared to pay $20 for a few chicken tenders and fries. I paid $10 for 12 fries. I was still hungry afterwards. Lol. Luckily everything else made up for it. So bring snacks from home to save money! You can also bring a sealed bottle of water. They have a few different food options like hotdogs, burgers, popcorn, margaritas, and etc. The bathrooms are hot as hell, so be prepared to get in and out. Also bring sanitizer, because they run out of soap sometimes. I saw a bunch of nasty people walk out without trying to wash those dirty hands. Ewww!! Neyo is one of my favorite artists so when I saw he was touring with Akon, I immediately bought tickets. Once we arrived, parking was very smooth. I love how they always have the parking attendees outside directing people where to park, it makes the process quick and easy. Walking in to the Amphitheater was just as quick. Since we had our clear bag, they quickly looked through it as we walked through the metal detectors and that was it. Then, we scanned our tickets and walked through the gate. It took maybe 5 mins altogether. After meeting up with my friend, we found our seats and grabbed some food. We decided on their Ranch Chicken Wraps and Fries and they were actually very good. My daughter loved them so much, she went back and grabbed another Wrap lol! With this being a concert venue, the food and drinks were a bit pricey but that's to be expected. The show was absolutely amazing! It's always such a good feeling being able to sing along with the artists you grew up listening to! On…read morethe attendance side I love going to shows here the crowds aren't cute but they aren't tiny either and the space is perfect. I have seen many burlesque shows here and it's always a good time I never feel like the music is too loud which I get at some other venues or that the lights are too crazy. I also appreciate that the venue is very accessible to people who have a disability and need accessibility. It has gender neutral bathrooms and a snack bar where everything is a dollar and honestly what can you get for a dollar these days, not much. On the performing side the backstage area is smaller but still very easy to fit multiple people in and their gear. There is also a booth where you can run sound and lights and has a great sound system and lighting system built in. I highly recommend you check out any show that is there I know they have a burlesque show coming up on December 10th 2022. They also host open mic nights, poetry slams and other epic events that I highly recommend checking out.
