Candlelight concert

Visited for Candlelight concert, nice venue for this will see what other events they have Didn't have any food or get drinks from the bar due to timing

Went to the adults only escape room dinner challenge. Tickets were purchased via eventbrite, included participation in the challenge, 3 drink tickets, and a dinner buffet. The decor inside the theater was actually nice. I liked the elegant yet dark and mysterious vibe it gave. We were paired randomly in a group of other people to do the challenges with. Regarding food and drinks, you technically only receive two drinks with your ticket purchase rather than the mentioned three since one drink was a challenge itself, a Bloody Mary, (0/10) none of us in the group drank it because it wasn't good. You did have the option to purchase more drinks throughout the night at the bar though. I had a wine and a vodka cranberry (7/10). The buffet was just ok, food lacked seasoning and wasn't very warm. I put a little of everything on my plate to try but could only take a few bites before they announced that the challenges would begin soon. Overall 4/10 on the food. There was also fruit and cheeses as well as cheesecake towards the end of the night. I suggest eating beforehand or to arrive at the event early if u want more time to eat. I did really enjoy the challenges and meeting new people in my team. My team was the only group to complete all of the activities correctly so we won the event, our prizes were that we each could choose a bottle of wine to take home. We chose the rosé and the merlot. My overall rate of experience : 5/10

I went to the Candlelight concert at Granby Theater. It was a beautiful venue and I enjoyed everything! The staff were very nice and helpful. They answered all my questions. I enjoyed a drink at the bar, they were efficient. The seating was easy due to staff being very attentive and hospitable. The Vivaldi quartet concert was amazing! I loved every second of the experience! Best time ever! Parking was easy, I parked across a stadium. I also enjoyed eating at the restaurant next door, that was so convenient! This place is awesome!

This is a great venue! I have been here a few times. It's located in the heart of the nightlife of Granby Street. I been here for a musical, dance event and this time was for a comedy show. Main comedian was Mark Viera. I went with a friend and had side tables with cocktail service and it was pretty full and a good crowd of people. We ordered a bottle of wine to our table and the bartender was super friendly. The show was great and funny, funny guy! The bathrooms are up a set of stairs in the theater. Something I fun to discover. When walking in you have mirrors all over. YAY!! fun!! I sometimes have an attendant, but I didn't see one this night. The place is pretty big.. There are at least three separate bars and plenty of seating. if you get a chance to visit, check it out. There is parking available on the street and there are a few parking garages nearby. Don't miss out!!!

I love this venue! I have visited many times, but as of late, the word on the street is that this place is closing soon or it may in fact be closed at this time. Nevertheless, the last time I visited was this past Summer. One of the local radio stations were having a party celebrating something and I was fortunate to have won tickets to the event. My babe and I arrived about 10 pm on a Sunday night and the place was already entertaining a great crowd. The drinks were flowing... the bartenders were looking sexy... everyone present seemed to be having a great time! I did venture to the restroom that was up some stairs in the theater... this was sexy! I love the concept! There was also room for an attendant, but I guess she hadn't arrived yet. Mirrors everywhere... a girls dream restroom!! The venue is huge!! There are at least three separate bars and plenty of seating... sometimes it's free other times you have to pay for a section. Nevertheless, if you get a chance to visit, check this place out. It's located in the heart of the nightlife of Granby Street. Parking is available on the street and there are a few parking garages nearby. Have fun and enjoy life :)

Drag show, sassy saturday drag brunch

10s 10s 10s Across The Board!!! Sassy Saturday Drag Brunch was honestly the most fun I've had at a drag show yet. From the atmosphere to the amazing performances from each and every queen involved! We need more of this!

Had a fabulous time at the Lord of the Rings event! The food was great and they did a fantastic job with the theme. Loved the ambiance and everyone's costumes. I do have 2 recommendations for improvement though. While the music acoustics sounded great I couldn't make out what any of the characters were saying in the film. I hope they fix that in the future. The chairs were uncomfortable for having to sit in them 4 hours but that may have been because they were trying ensure they fit the theme.

I can't promise that everything I write in this review is true of the place...or I should say of my recent experience last night. Fireball after fireball, vodka after vodka...who knows if I was actually even at Granby Theater at said check-in on the my iPhone? :) Is it true they are closing down? That's what I've heard. Bummer... I hope not. I'll add to what I haven't covered before. There's typically a cover to get in. That would deter me from going there but I've been lucky to be with the right group. Still...it's only $5 or $10. The VIP section is off the hook. Lounge around with your entourage and take lots of cool pics. Since my last visit they've done some really cool upscale lighting to the place that has given the venue a much classier touch. There's a table in the middle of the dance floor now and it looks like they've added some staging areas near the stair cases so the dance floor doesn't appear as big... I don't mind the table. It's a good place to park your drink while you get your groove on. The stage areas are cool for people watching. If I remember correctly they have a few tables so it's almost like a mini area for groups to hang. If you get the right DJ this place will certainly be off the hook.

After some 'problems' over the last year or so, it seems that the glorious lady that is the Granby Theater has gotten back over the hump and is once again open for business. And that is a good thing. My excuse/reason for getting out of the house and hanging out on the Granby Corridor was LOMP (Local Original Music Party), a celebration of local music and artists that had its inaugural event here. The plan is for this to become a once a month thing, and we are all hoping that it has found a permanent home at the GT. The place is spacious yet intimate due to the multiple levels of seating and standing areas. I'm sure that this place can get really crazy when it is set up as a club....but as far as a place to go hear live music, this place rocks! The dance floor is spacious enough that you can stand on the floor yet not get trampled. Plenty of cool little nooks and crannies all over the place that can provide 'vertical stabilization' as the evening progresses. As far as a place to hang out a drink like a fish, well, maybe not so much. My one trip to the bar to fetch a beer didn't turn out so wonderfully, the service somewhat set records for slowness (my gawd, how long does it really take to open a bottle of Corona and squeeze a lime into it??)...and don't come here looking for low drink prices either, although it is probably typically priced for this type of venue. The problems of the past do seem to draw the attention of the local popo, you can usually find a cruiser or two out front. Don't let that throw you, though.

What is the dress code here? Flip flops allowed?

I suspect it depends on what event you are attending. Some events may have a dress code, regular evening concerts probably do not. However I'm pretty sure no gang symbols or attire is ever welcome. Flip flops are not appropriate unless for some…

Super glad we stopped in, the vibe is incredibly comfortable and cool and envelops your soul. Ambience: super cool, comfortable, a little dark, exposed brick walls with plaster patches, hardwood floors, heavy wood and leather furniture, incredible bar that is more like two bars in an L-shape with an unbelievable selection of anything you could ever want. This place is very solid feeling, you just feel safe and tucked in. Service: was fantastic, we met the executive chef named Ty who greeted us before we even sat down, just saw us sitting in the foyer bar and came over to say hello, very cool. We were greeted and seated by an absolute sweetheart upfront named Jackson and our server couldn't have been nicer, her name was Casey. Food: the food is all served tapas style, smaller plates, but well curated with interesting and innovative ingredients with beautiful presentation. Unfortunately, they were out-of four things that my wife wanted, she didn't want all of them simultaneously, she wanted one and they were out, and that happened three more times. Apparently, they often order in smaller batches and buy locally so sometimes they don't have as much as someplace buying in bulk, that's as much a positive as a negative, not a bad thing, just a bit of a bummer that she didn't get her first few choices. She ended up with the duck tacos which were good. We started with the brussels sprouts, which were also good and had nice presentation. We also started with bacon wrapped tots, the dish came with four of them and chili ketchup, beautifully presented, and rich, creamy, crunchy and yummy. I ordered the braised beef and fry bread and it was my favorite thing, very beefy flavored, warm and rich on soft pillowy fry bread with some cool crunch and crispy, thin plantain slices, very good. We started with a Chocolate Cherry Old Fashioned that was delicious. Overall the food was very good and the value was decent at around $12-$16 per plate. Overall: this was a really good experience and I'd go back to try some of the things they were out of and enjoy the incredible bar and stellar, considerate, thoughtful service. Definitely recommend!

The burgers are absolutely amazing. My favorite was the Greg Brady: a smashed burger topped with house-made mac & cheese, American cheese, and BBQ potato chips. It sounds over the top, but somehow it all works perfectly. A friend enjoyed the Chiflet, topped with applewood-smoked bacon, a sunny-side-up egg, and American cheese. A couple others tried the special burgers of the day, and they were all a hit as well. We all upgraded to double patties, and it was hands-down the best decision. The sweet potato fries were also delicious and the perfect side. Customer service was also amazing! Everyone was super helpful and attentive both of the times we were there. If you're in Norfolk and craving a great burger, don't miss this place. We'll definitely be back!

Price point was about $16 for a burger and fries without a drink. We ordered the regular cheeseburger, the Cowboy (bacon, BBQ sauce, and American cheese), the Cobra Kai (cream cheese, pickled jalapeños, and jalapeño jelly), and the Classic Jack (caramelized onions, JB sauce, and dill pickles). Everything tasted solid and came out hot. The restaurant itself is very small and does not seem ideal for larger groups. Despite this, I loved the ambiance, it has a dive bar vibe with lots of notes on dollar bills on the walls that were fun to read. I will be coming back again when in the area! A special shoutout to the waitress with the bridge piercing. She was friendly, accommodating, and quick with service, which really stood out.

Good size crowd but still plenty of room and game to easily get to and play. Started off with great service at the front desk, I believe the guys name is Cleary. He was very welcoming. We explained this was our first time in and asked for recomendations. He was very friendly and cordial and explained how everything worked. At the end of the visit we realized he gave great advice that allowed us to fully enjoy our visit. The vibe and ambiance was really good and had the true arcade feel. People were laughing and having lots of fun just like us. There were people enjoying food and drinks and relaxing in groups in the dining area, playing duck pin bowling, video games including guitar hero, playing pinball, skeetball, basketball shoot and football throwing games. I mean there was real fun being had by all including us. Didn't have food but had beer and played pinball and video games. I really like the beer taps because there were a lot of choices and I tried several different ones because you pour as little or as much as you want. I did about six oz pours and tried several ones. My boyfriend and I have visited 3 times prior to me leaving this review and each time we've had issues with the tap room card readers. The advertised price per fluid ounce isn't tabulated correctly on their systems and we've been overpriced each visit. We've brought the issue up to the staff before and one of our drinks were comped but overall not a great fix if you were to bring a large group or have more than 1 or 2 beverages. Game play was good in my opinion, unless you are a fan of pinball. Respectable selection but the gameplay is subpar. Most of the machines are missing lights or key switches to story modes. Also, pinabll being $1.00 per play with some of them having no ball save and high scores required for free play. There was a decent selection of games to choose from and about 8 or 9 pinball machines which attracted us there to begin with. Most of the games are $1 to play minus ski ball for $0.25 per play. We've never tried the food but each time we've gone we have seen people enjoying a plate or two. Cleanliness: overall the arcade area is pretty clean no major problems but the restrooms were a bit subpar in my opinion. The attached photo was taken 39 min after opening and there were zyn pouches and toilet paper on the stall floor. With the amount of people present at the time I think it was safe to say the restroom was not properly cleaned the evening prior. We'll continue to visit due to the purely due to the lack of arcades in the area but I probably won't put my card down for a bar tab again.

Second time: Made the reservation with ease. If you've ever made a group reservation you know how complicated some places make it. This was a large group and they were short handed. This lead to a slower service which actually worked out well for our group. We didn't mind the gaps. They put us in their back room (hint - GREAT for groups) there was a little confusion with the order to include an extra dish we didn't order. We still ate it and paid for it though. The staff was great with our large and rather disruptive group. The food was all excellent (local oysters on the half shell and the apple desert were my highlights). Multiple cocktails that were all wonderful. My only real negative was that there was a $50 "loyalty club " charge that was never mentioned and I didn't even notice on the $1200.00 bill. This is, I believe, some sort of credit card fee. Both times were good. Both times staff were wonderful. Both times we were comfortable. Give the place a try. I don't think you will regret it.
