My wife was just ACCOSTED by one of the patrons there and the PBR Manager tonight (some black lady with dreads that wouldn't give me her name) kicked my wife out instead of the guy that was HARASSING her. I was singing for karaoke and my wife was taking a smoke and then this Hispanic guy (that was staring at her all night) came and started harassing her. She told him to leave her alone and he kept getting in her space. And when she called for security no one came, so she defended herself and the perv went to the manager (that I'm assuming he knew) and the manager kicked her out. All this to say, this manager needs to be removed ASAP for failing to even look at security footage to see that my wife was telling the truth. read more

Got kicked out for being in the "wrong" bathroom as a BIOLOGICAL female in the women's restroom. Had trans sisters with me who present fully feminine and transitioned get told they were in the wrong bathroom as well..the men's restroom is NOT an option for them OR ME(would've got kicked out either way cause we would've been women in the men's restroom). It's was my first time attending "PBR" and i feel like I was racially profiled keep in mind (I am Mexican/Puerto Rican) I was sitting on a "box" meanwhile on my left and right hand side people of color were sitting on "the box" as well. Security came up to me and told me about it at first (warning #1) once they told me the first time I understood not to sit on it even if it didn't seem like a big deal to me so after I laid up against it with the back part of my legs to which I didn't think was a big deal because i wasn't sitting on it. Then security proceeds to approach me the second time and they targeted me again (mind you people of color are still sitting on "the box") so I took two steps forward and they came back and told me I had to leave because I was being "disrespectful" which I wasn't at this point I felt targeted so I spoke up for myself and they didn't like that so I got escorted out and I was talking to a police officer and he basically told me it happens a lot. A friend I was with said they were bringing the manager and they made sure I was escorted out before I could talk to the manager. read more

As far as nightlife bars go PBR isn't that bad. It's marketed as a hip country bar with the tittle, mechanical bull (sweet 16?), and the short shorts bar tenders, etc. but it's really not. The DJ's prefer "bro country" over REAL country and after 10pm the dance floor disappears and becomes a collage of sweaty hipsters and nut to butt passes. HOWEVER! I will acknowledge the friendly staff and overall comfortable vibes that PBR maintains. The bartenders, while passive AF, are good and the drinks are consistent with any large scale club you'd visit anywhere. There are some cool games they keep out and plenty of open seating and standing room (get off the dance floor). Bottom line. If you are in the downtown Norfolk area and are looking for a spot to get out and get lit at. PBR is a good choice. Hope this helps! read more

I am not a fan of this location. I have visited the Norfolk PBR twice. Both times were associated with special events (bar crawls). The first time, three bars were advertised for speciality drinks. Only 2 were open. But the bartenders were nice and made the specialty drinks that the third bar would have. This time all the bars were going. People were coming in from the event (bar crawl) and typical night. The bar was filling up, but a number of people were just standing there. My friend and I attempted to make a request for a song, but got shot down. One of the ladies stated they had to play certain things at certain times. Therefore the DJ at that location ddoesn't take requests. She didn't even let us get out our request. My friend and I ended up leaving and going to the location in Hampton so that we could dance and continue to enjoy our night. read more

If you're looking for a chill night in downtown to grab a beer, this is definitely the place. PBR is located right in waterside district. I came around 10pm on a Friday night and was thankfully able to find parking on the street right across from the restaurant (free). Upon walking up, you can see the outdoor patio. Not sure if there is also an inside entrance, but we went to the outdoor one and there was only 1 or 2 people in line. They checked our IDs and gave us stamps on our hands. I must say, there is so much space!! They have many large areas with tables and seating to include at least 2 bars. It was a blessing to go to the bar and not have to elbow people out the way. Though, my tequila sunrise drink wasn't good at all but also it was only $6.75 so I still drank it of course. With friends, we sat on the patio by the fire pit they have. Kept us so warm but I will say it got a little too hot for comfort some times. Maybe because of the wind? Smoking in allowed outside. The music in the building wasn't extremely loud but could be heard throughout. Definitely country music with some random mixes in between. During one song they have the employees up on stage putting on a little show. Other employees are also around servicing and getting in a couple dance moves. Last but not least, the bull! All you need is your ID to sign the waiver. The employees are super awesome and yes...I absolutely rode the bull and was a champ! This is a nice place where you want to go out, but not do too much. Aside from the smoking... this place is really cool! I love the variety of music and the large dance floor! I love the outdoor seating by the fire. I visited last Friday night and it was a bit chilly. Therefore, sitting at the high top along the blazing fire... it felt good! The only downside, the smokers! Seating along the fire... about 12 seats... it seemed as though all the smokers wanted to sit right beside me... sheesh! I believe smoking is allowed outside only, so if you decide to chill outside, the smoking will be a factor. But the ambiance, facing Waterside Drive is sexy! You can even see the dance floor and the bull riders from outside as well. TV's are visible from the outside as well. TVs are throughout the establishment. The drinks were on point. About 11pm... the place starts to fill quite swiftly. I'd recommend you stop in if you like a mix crowd, but beware of the smokers if you are a nonsmoker or if the smoke bothers you. Entry - free! They are doing the best they can with COVID restrictions and I appreciate that. The security forces are a bit brutal though. I don't go to clubs often and I had forgotten my ID. I tried using my military ID and when that got denied I tried using my license from phone as a picture. I had no idea it wouldn't work but the security guard was QUICK to throw me to the back of the line and when I asked why he had the behavior he explained to me why and told me to have a goodnight but with the nastiest attitude. I understand that is the procedure but please, lighten up. I'm not sure if this will change anything but this experience definitely changed my view of PBR Norfolk. read more

PBR was cool. They cater mostly to white people who like country music and pop songs. Not many people of color come to this venue so I always stick out like a sore thumb lol. The drinks were reasonably priced. There is always a heavy military presence since it is close to base. There is a bull to ride and a Ferris wheel close by. Very displeased. Went there for my bachelorette party. They kicked my whole group out because my shorts were too short. First off how are you going to ask me to leave after you stamped my hand and allowed me into the establishment wearing what I was wearing then wait till after I order drinks and spend money to ask me to leave? A lady came up to me while I was at the bar and asked if I could pull my shorts down or if I had a change of clothes. I responded and simply said um no, they're shorts they are were they are. So she told me to finish my drinks and to leave. I told my whole party that we had to leave because my shorts were too short because you could see the bottom of my butt cheeks. Obviously people asked for a manager and when we did that a officer came up to us and told us we were causing a scene and had to leave immediately. Mind you the girls that work there wear butt less chaps and daisy dukes that their butt cheeks hangout of. So why'd I get kicked out for mine? They claimed it was an ABC violation but like, your employees are showing the same amount of butt cheek. And if anybody's going to get in trouble with ABC for butt cheeks it's going to be the employees before the customers. They kicked out a group of $20 and lost a lot of money by doing so but that's fine they were dead as heck anyways and we moved onto another bar and had a blast! I've been here about 3x since moving to VA. There's two rooms. The main area/bar plays a minority of country music and some top 40. If you walk off to the back (which i think is an entirely different bar), it's more too 40/hip hop. That side is more my scene but every time i've been there it's been pretty dead. All in all, I would return but maybe as a last resort. read more

I had a blast here. The staff is very welcoming and friendly. One nice young lady even helped me get on the bull cause I had no idea what I was doing lol. The only reason I did not give this a 5 is because of 2 reasons. 1. U have to walk through another restaurant to get to the restrooms because they don't have 1. 2. They don't serve food. I had a blast here on opening weekend with the boyfriend and friends. The DJ was really throwing it back with some awesome tunes mixed in with the country music to feed a little bit of everyone's taste. Pretty decent space inside with, of course, the mechanical bull. I will ride that thing one day! They have a HUGE outdoor patio/deck but unfortunately for us it was raining this night. The staff was super friendly and were quick to clean up any mess when the "drunkies" decided to spill/brake bottles. With the new location and Waterside name comes pricey beverages. They do not serve food here as there are plenty of surrounding restaurants so their drink prices are pretty high. A beer that I often get from Keagans for $4 was $8 here after tax. I highly recommend Ubering here or any other bar at waterside as they are packed with security and driving after a long night of drinking is always a dumb idea anyway. I'll definitely be back but since it's a drive from me, I wouldn't see it worth being a "regular" spot. read more

I start off every review with 5 stars, so take it what it is worth. Service is as fast as possible, and the drinks taste good and come fast. I like that they have cans of Monster at the bar. Music is solid and they offer line dancing lessons in Thursdays which make the weekend more enjoyable. Come around 9:30 or 10:00pm No complaints at all.
