So glad this store finally closed. Their business model was an absolute con: they accept people's items for 'consignment', do no research on them and then price them at absurd prices so they aren't bought, make the sale check in and pickup processes so impossible to navigate that consigners can't keep track and then 'expire' the consignment contract to discount and sell the items to pocket all the money themselves. Third, they play games with you making it impossible to pick up your unsold items. I was screwed over years ago with 2nd Time Around in NYC. These consignment shops are all shady. They steal your money and don't tell you the accurate price it sells for. Happened to me also with COLLETTE CONSIGNMENT in NYC and the Hamptons. I finally learned not to consign anymore. I'm still trying to get money from another place in California. It's ridiculous. Last year I was in NYC to visit my son and a snow storm was expected. Poor planning on my part to not bring snowstorm apparel. He suggested we take a look here, and I found a great winter coat at a great price. (My son frequents the store.) Happy to report on my return visit, my daughter found a quality coat/jacket at a great price. As in any consignment shop I visit, you look through the merchandise and hope the planet's align and you find an item in your size that is what you didn't even know you were looking for, or in our case, we were looking for and found at a discount. Seller Experience: I strongly would NOT recommend selling your things at this consignment or other consignments affiliated. STAY AWAY! First off, their rules: -Unsold items are reduced by 20% after 30 days and 50% after 60 days -Store retains 50% of actual selling price -You need to call every Wednesday to see if your items were sold. If your items sell, you receive a check on Thursday. -If you decide to take back your items you still need to call and ask on a Wednesday. I called on Wednesday to see if any of my 2 items sold. 1 sold for the minimum price of $40. I went in the next day to receive my whopping $20 check. As the lady handed me the check, she told me I can't deposit it that day but I can deposit it tomorrow. How odd, do they not have sufficient funds in the account? The other item that didn't sell was missing the case it came in as well as all the proof of authenticity. They gave about 2 mins to look for it to just tell me that it was lost. I asked the lady if things get lost a lot there and she ADMITTED "things get lost all the time here because they move things around." Hmm, how does an unorganized business still stand if this happens "ALL THE TIME" ?? Unorganized, ridiculous rules & payment policy and lackluster customer service. Grade: F- read more

Whoever said to run from this place was bang on. I consigned ten items with them back in early July. When I asked for an update (you can only do this on Wednesdays), I was told none of my items had sold - in about seven months. I was asked if I wanted to reduce the prices. I said no, that I would retrieve them. Then I was given a date to pick up the items two weeks later. So today I walk in to get my items and a woman is threatening to call the police because every check they've given her has bounced. The incredibly rude sales person (who makes Trump look like a teddy bear) tells me they've sold all my items but one. In two weeks almost everything sells -- when nothing had moved in seven months? Seriously? Apparently the items sold at the lowest possible price. This, after I had explicitly said not to mark them down and that I wanted everything back. In other words: don't sell them. I want them. I was given a paltry check and told to hurry and deposit before the end of the day. W. T. F. ? ? ? Clearly, the store sells everything at their discretion and then lies to the items' original owner about the selling price. The key to staying in business AND making a profit. Went in on a random Saturday for dresses i can wear to nurse my baby. I usually go to the East Village location, which I love. I was not expecting much, but I found this silk Diane von Furstenberg dress for $125. The female staff was very nice. I should have checked the dress in details, though, as it had stains and stuff so maybe I could have asked for a discount. I finally saw the owner that a lot of reviewers are talking about. He was a little abrupt for the question I asked about discount, but overall, the experience was good. I will go back again! read more

Speaking for the cheaper Eleven just down the street: Nothing but positive experiences and great purchases every time I've shopped. Their items are priced very fairly and in good condition. A lot of times u shop consignment stores and they're smelly and the clothes are worn and the store is dowdy but Eleven is A+. Also, they are often running promotions so prices typically aren't the same as they are marked so it makes a nice surprise. So many different brands (Marc by Marc Jacobs, Cosabella, Theory, Milly, etc.) Similarly priced to Buffalo Exchange or Beacons Closet but the clothing is way better quality and the shop is all around cleaner. Not to mention, the employees are friendly and not stuck-up hipsters (I'm look at u, Buffalo Exchange.) very positive experience w Indiana, she was super sweet, helpful and attentive. Goodwill comparable, but really small. You really have to dig through the not so good for the finds and there's only one makeshift fitting room, which is annoying. But the staff was nice and told me everything was half off, which made things pretty cheap. But no signs to that effect, which was weird. Has as much men's stuff as women's. read more

Zero stars. Do not do it to yourself by selling here. Seriously, you will hate yourself for having entered this hell hole in the first place if you do. I sold them around 20 clothing items, all were Zara, Express etc. and they offered me a $40 credit. It was very little but I thought why not since I don't wear this stuff anymore. I asked if they treat the credit like cash and I was told yes. I went to redeem it a few months later when the entire store was 50% off. After finally finding a few items in their awful selection of all forever 21 crap... I go to the register only to be told that I can't use my credit for the 50% off items. I would have to pay full price if I use the credit. I mentioned that I was told, the credit is treated like cash and they said yes, they do treat it like cash. I told them I was confused as to why, then, I can't use it like cash. They said not on sale items. I was confused and upset and walked out. I went back today and tried to purchase a sweater for $25. They told me the same thing, it is 40% off. I told them, I would like to pay full price with my credit so that I never have to enter this place again and they proceeded to argue with me and tell me no. After, long discussions, they allowed me to buy a sale item that was $15 for full price of $25. Also, their credit expires. It used to be 6 months, now it expires after 4 months. Do yourself a huge favor and go to Beacons across the street - better selection, they pay you more for selling, they treat their credit like cash by letting you purchase sale items and their credit never expires! Walked in to this store recently. As soon as i walk in I am stared at up and down by two young women.I ask the question, "do you have any vintage dresses"? "What kind of vintage?" she asks me with an attitude. I know of only one kind of vintage, so I said to her "like old vintage" "Well look, we have a lot of things." I felt so un-welcomed and headed for the door. Some advice to the witches who work there. The staff here is so friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend coming here before Beacon's Closet if you're looking to sell or trade items. They're much more reasonable and personable. Unlike Beacon's closet, this place is a luxury consignment store so you'll find high end designer brands with a hefty price tag. Although I have to say it is very neatly organized and the clothes and jackets are coordinated by color. Shoes and bags are a bit limited but overall in pretty decent condition. This is a review for my experience Fall 2013: For consignment, the "process" is to call Wednesday to inquire if your item sold and pick up check Thursday - those days only. This can easily be difficult for full-time workers. I called Wednesday and was told I must have yellow slip to claim check and that sometimes they run out of checks if you arrive too late in day. I called next day and gave my name and was casually told if I called yesterday a check "should" be there. Upon pressing for a cross-check it turns out a check was NOT prepared for me. I expressed frustration and was floored by the attitude I received. The woman cut me off while speaking stating "the process works for everyone else". I replied that I am allowed to express my frustration and regardless of process I am addressing my singular experience. I was met with a nonverbal exhale and an eyeroll I could feel through the phone. I reminded her that at beginning of call I had to push for her to reconfirm. I can't believe the rudeness given the professional, customer service response should have been to apologize for any miscommunication and take my name assuring me it would be ready the following week. At mercy, I said fine I will have to do multiple calls the following week and take time off work. I received a curt "fine" and dial tone. I am perplexed as to why a store manager or owner would have poor manners and issue resolution with a customer especially one that has been a patron and has now created revenue through consignment. While I had enjoyed shopping there, this nasty behavior will prevent me from spending soon. read more

Went again to their other location right up the street, the other location has NO high end lux goods, but they will consign lots of regular brands. I consigned a LOT of jewelry (walked in, no appointment yay!) that I was about to give away, and I snagged a cool $50 in store credit. Win again with Eleven! I'm definitely coming back soon to spend that credit. I also spent my store credit from my previous consignment of $100 on a NEW COACH BAG!! It is so beautiful. Do not consign with these people. I brought in a load of things, most of them still with the tags on from Bergdorfs. The woman working looked at my young appearance and casual attire and was very short with me and said she only wanted a few things. She did not even open the garment bag I brought in. When I asked her if she was going to look in it, she said "no". I had multiple dresses from Theory, Helmut Lang, Thakoon... with tags still attached that she did not even look at. Apart from the bizarre behavior, you have to physically go to the store to collect your money and only on Wednesdays. You are also only allowed to CALL to check if anything has been sold on Wednesdays. It has been three months and they haven't moved any of my merchandise. I'm not sure what they are going for at this store but I won't be doing business with them again. read more

I stopped in here recently on my search for an inexpensive, unique prom dress after visiting their location just up the street. I'd been to the other consignment stores on that street earlier in the day and hadn't found anything. Almost immediately upon entering this shop with my family, my mother came across the PERFECT dress for me! I tried it on quickly and when I went to pay for it, I was surprised to find that it was only $35! This was for a beautiful Alfred Angelo full-length bridesmaid dress! For anyone thinking about taking their merchandise to this consignment shop DON'T! I took three dresses there and after several months of being told the dresses were not sold I asked to pick them up. The first time I sent my boyfriend with my receipt and was told I needed to be the one to get the dresses. When I went back to pick up the dresses, I was told the forgot to transfer the dresses from their Brooklyn Shop. I left several emails which went unanswered. Finally I was told that two dresses were in fact sold and the third was stolen and they are not responsible to for their customers for any stolen merchandise. They claimed that I had abandoned my merchandise. In the meantime I had been trying to make arrangements to get my dresses. When I confronted Liz, not only did she get in my face but so the the cashier and Malik the supposed owner. He was rude and cursed at me. It got to the point where my boyfriend and him almost got to blues. Please stay away from this place. I recommend you take your merchandise to Second Time Around. read more

Today, when I go there, all I get is a dirty look from one of those people. It's very unappealing and obvious snobby attitude from the sales associate. Sure I inquire about certain items, but the way they price their items for the condition that most of them are in are not worth it. You would be a complete fool or a moron to shop there. I shop at boutiques. These people think they are in a boutique. You're a consignment shop, Not Chanel. They need to hire people with better mannerisms and compassion. I follow this special consignment shop on Instagram and immediately fell in love with a Louis Vuitton bag that Monroe posted. I called her immediately and she sent me more photos within minutes. It was the first time speaking to her and she was already sweet enough to hold the bag for me when I'm sure she had other customers who were wanting for the bag. She even kept her promise and gave me an extra discount. She is very smart, stylish, quick and of course helpful.
