It would be one thing if patients were notified in advance and still chose to do business with them but that's not the case. I was especially frustrated by the lack of clear communication from the front desk regarding insurance coverage and protection plans for glasses. On two separate occasions, staff failed to mention available protection options for the frames. Later, when the frames broke, I was forced to pay out of pocket because no protection plan had been added or properly explained to us at the time of purchase. What made the situation even more frustrating was that the staff made me feel as though it was somehow my mistake for not having protection coverage, even though I was never offered or informed about it in the first place. Instead of taking accountability for the lack of communication, the responsibility was shifted onto me as the customer. Customer service, organization, and communication need significant improvement. I arrived, completed the exam, and after he had me sit for the test, he changed the deal, told me I'd only get 6 months of contacts, and charged me an $80 exam fee. When I inquired about glasses, he tried to add extra charges and claim I needed expensive "high-index" lenses with a multi-week wait. While finishing up, he even tried to make me wait 15 minutes to tend to people who came in after me instead of just finding the contacts so I can pay. Then he claimed astigmatism voided the original deal and tried to spin it like he "threw in discounts" by switching me to monthly contacts. I ended up paying $230, but compared to the promised $150 and a full year of contacts, this was still a massive ripoff. He could've been transparent instead of waiting until checkout to box me in. I've done business with Stanton Optical 3 years ago for both glasses and contacts, and it was nothing like this. This bait-and-switch behavior is completely unacceptable. The optometrist who did my exam was great, professional, thorough, and not responsible for this shady behavior. This is bait-and-switch and deceptive practice. She is exceptionally rude and quite frankly, if I didn't have such a great experience with Patricia and Giselle, I'd never come back. This is a luxury eyewear store so I expected to be treated as such. Especially since I dropped over $840 on a pair of glasses here, after insurance. I work in the customer service industry and have for the last 13 years and as a manager, I'd want to address this behavior immediately so that it doesn't deter business. It takes very little to look up from a computer to greet and make eye contact with paying customers who are needing support. They're doing construction at the hospital which makes it even more confusing. I finally made it and entered the building. Their office is on the 2nd floor. I got checked in and filled out the required paperwork. They were concerned that my retina detached but after viewing the images that were taken, that didn't happen. Dillon, who did the images of my eyes, was very personable with a great sense of humor. The female doctor whom I saw (I don't remember her name) was also fantastic. She got an eyeball to show and explain what was happening with my eye. I was there for about 3 hours which seems like the average time that I've spent at my regular eye doctor's office.
