    Smokehouse platter
    Vic A.

Delicious food, but the portions are small for what you pay for. We got the smokehouse platter to share with a friend. Not enough meats than another platter priced the same as another smokehouse in Raleigh. The brisket had more fat than I liked, but cooked well. Service was great and the restaurant was decorated nicely. Would recommend they drop the price or increase the portions.

This was the first time I visited here and the atmosphere was amazing. It was crowded but not super loud. Was able to sit down with my brother and enjoy our meal. We got onion rings and hush puppies as an appetizer. Both were nice and crispy on the outside, and super delicious. Hush puppies were moist on the inside, and the rings were not dried out at all. I got the hot honey chicken sandwich for my meal and it was DELICIOUS. I ordered 2 of the moonshines while we were there and they were very tasty as well. The bartender know what they're doing! For a dessert we got the beignets and they were very tasty! The chocolate sauce was good, but the mixed berry sauce one was 100x better. Onion rings & Hush puppies - 8/10 Chicken Sandwich - 9/10 Fries - 9/10 Moonshine drinks - 9/10 Beignets - 8.5/10

My favorite brisket I have tried in the area! I love having a place that takes an easy reservation, but is local and no too upscale. Service is very kind, but note the food doesn't not come out quickly during peak dinner time.

Such a delightful place! Owners, food, service (our bartender was wonderful) and atmosphere! Perfection. First day open for lunch today which thrilled us because we are lunch people! Hubby and I split Lump Crab Cakes, Sticky Ribs and Shrimp Risotto. Eat local folks! Support small business! You will be rewarded a million times over!!

Absolutely the best place to eat in Franklinton. The food is amazing, and the staff make it a wonderful atmosphere.

The wine list is broad and thoughtfully curated, with options that feel approachable whether you're a casual wine drinker or someone looking to try something new. The sommeliers were welcoming, knowledgeable, and genuinely enthusiastic about helping us find something we loved. The space itself is adorable, with eclectic décor and cozy lighting that makes it easy to settle in and stay awhile. It's a great spot for conversation and a relaxed evening with friends. The only downside is that the space is fairly small, and I would have loved to see one or two more lower seating options for small groups rather than mostly high tops. That said, I could absolutely see us coming back for a pre- or post-theater glass of wine or an easy catch-up night.

The service is awesome--our server was super friendly and gave me a great drink recommendation when I wasn't sure what I wanted. It ended up being perfect. My friend and I shared a glass of the 2023 Cederberg Bukettraube (sweet white wine) and got the charcuterie board for one with the truffle salami. That board was so good--I can't stop thinking about it. The toasted baguette slices with truffle salami and mustard? Unreal. It was the perfect little snack to share. We also had the citrus lavender crème brûlée, which was surprisingly delicious. I don't usually go for crème brûlée, but this one was light, not overly sweet, and just had a really nice flavor. I've also tried their shepherd's pie before and loved it--wish it was still on the menu! The vibe inside is moody and cozy, and they've got a cute outdoor patio too. Overall, such a great spot. A little pricey, but I'll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend checking out Killer Queen.

The Deets: I got to try out the new HomeSlice Tavern up in Youngsville during their soft opening period recently. First of all, the aesthetics are what draw you in...a neatly renovated house with an inviting open door (see the pics I nabbed). Inside is a good open space with tables, the bar, and a large access to the outside area in back. There are a few electronic games available to play inside and a electronic jukebox on the wall near the bar. Mentioning the bar, a full bar awaits on the right when entering the front with one end of it adjacent to the outside area...and that outside area! Large, well groomed, with picnic tables/high tops to use but a very wide open enough space to enjoy (again, check those pics out I made). I noted a food truck at the very back of this open outside space, which I overheard one of the bartenders tell a patron that would be serving pizza starting a bit later in the month (May 2023). The bar has a good variety of alcohol/beer/wine with a small dedicated cocktail menu (possible suggestion...?maybe some "zero proof" alcohol choices and sugar free Red Bull to go with the regular Red Bull choice?). The bartenders were nice and attentive during my visit with good service, and as the afternoon went on there was a fairly good crowd building up to check out the place. My first impressions of HomeSlice Tavern are good ones, and I will hopefully enjoy more visits here in the future.

I have been looking everywhere for Mead and this place has quite a few options!! They also had craft beer for sale which is always a plus. My husband and I ordered a few drinks from the bar and enjoyed all of our choices. Though the bar was busy, service was quick and attentive. There was a ton of indoor and outdoor seating, not including the extra tables and chairs that were brought out for the festival. I will most definitely be back when the time comes! The host was fine, the bartender was fine, there was a nice crowd and it appeared everyone enjoyed themselves. I didn't observe any rudeness on the part of the staff or other patrons. So that's the Monday trivia review. On to the place itself. It's a nice bottle shop and bar in Youngsville. They have a nice selection of beer and wine (on tap and to go) and offer some small snack items when a food truck or the "empanada lady" isn't there. I've been here twice in the last month and both experiences were positive!! It will be the occasional stop in Youngsville when I'm up that way. Check them out if you happen to be in the area.
