In the midst of posting this review I had yet another run around with Reyna. She also attempted to be nice and was very professional - however whomever she was speaking with was getting very angry and the answer they kept giving me was - "We will pull our tech, and put everything back to the way it was when we found it", which by this point they had supposedly already done 6 hours of work to the door - which needed repair after 2 days. (Original appointment was Friday and door needed to be fixed again on Monday). I asked if they could work with us on the labor costs, being that we never authorized the work and i was told that was not possible and promptly hung up on. My co-manager then called and they agreed to discount the bill from $1,451.26 to and even $1,200.00 ($251.26)- ONLY if i take down my Yelp review. California signed into law in 2014 that such clauses are not allowed: Summary of Cal. Civ. Code § 1670.8 The new law provides that a "contract or proposed contract for the sale or lease of consumer goods or services may not include a provision waiving the consumer's right to make any statement regarding the seller or lessor or its employees or agents, or concerning the goods or services." Cal. Civ. Code § 1670.8(a)(1). It will also be "unlawful to threaten or to seek to enforce" such a provision, or to "otherwise penalize" a consumer for making any such statement. Cal. Civ. I wrote a good review yesterday because I was happy with how professional John was and I get little discount on labor. However, after my husband came home and found out that I was being ripped off, I was very upset. I was charged about a total bill of $3655 to replace circuit board, battery and sensor eye. I could have bought a whole new set of dual arm system for $2840 on Amazon! The OEM ones you even can get at about $1500! Not to mention that the trip charge is $175 and I paid $1200 for labor. If I knew about the price of new set of system, I would just replace with a whole new set and not having to spend time and money on 6 hours of labor waiting for John to solve the problem and repair everything. Now I just pray my gates don't break any time soon. Although John is good, I don't want to get ripped off again by his company. The $100 labor rate every half an hour with no limit is ridiculous. Be aware! Update: This place is a total scam. I just called other companies to get a quote on new set of electric gate system and did more research online. Average is $1500 for whole new set. Other repair place told me if they take my unbroken circuit boards and sensor eyes, they can re-sell it as refurbished and make extra money off them too. Then I realized that John took all my circuit boards that didn't even look broken and a working older model of sensor eye without asking for my permission. My sliding driveway gate stopped working. Called Elite and scheduled for a Monday 9-1 (the person on the phone was exceptionally pleasant and helpful). Marco showed up @ 9:10 (dispatch gave us a 20 min warning call) and set to work. Less than a half hour later, he reported back that we needed a new receiver. I was given a couple of options @ reasonable prices. Once we made our choice, the work was done quickly, including cleaning up the unit and lubing the chain and wheels. It's $145 to show up + $90 every 30 mins service. Totally fine. So the tech arrives and alerts us - 20 minutes in - no repair needed - he just had to wipe off grease - and the entry door is all good. Ok. It is what is. But here's where dishonesty kicked in... Tech spent 16 minutes writing up the invoice. One assumes $145 + $90 is $235. right? Nope. Because he spent 16 minutes on the invoice, we ran into a second 30 minute billing, 6 minutes in. $325. I kid you not! When we complained, customer service agreed billing should be $235. It gets better. The entry door actually not fixed - still needs repair -but they won't come back unless we pay the $145 roll up fee, despite my request to simply charge $90 for every 30 minutes to FIX the door. UPDATE: I got another company to come and take a look. Turns out the keypad "Elite Access" overcharged me for has been recalled and is known to be defective. ORIGINAL: Terrible company. They came out and replaced the keypad on my garage door and charged $340 to do it. I later saw online that the keypad they installed costs around $50 bucks and has terrible reviews and is known for being unreliable. Sure enough, 5 months later, the keypad stops working. I call them and they tell me that their warranty is 30 days only, and they would charge again to come and fix it. Whoever heard of a 30 day warranty on electronics? Given how much they overcharged me the first time, I guess it's no surprise that they're crooks. Avoid!! read more

Our HOA's gate phone system and gate was having some problems. We made an appointment with Elite and their technician came here when promised several days before and confirmed the day before the visit. The company called to say that the technician (John) would arrive in a half-hour. He did exactly that. Technician John communicated clearly, was knowledgable and professional in his communications. He also seemed to care about the quality of his work. After he completed his work installing a new phone entry system and gate closer, he walked me through and patiently answered my questions. Overall, a good experience. This is our first experience with this firm and I will recommend to my HOA that we continue using Elite. John represents them well! read more

Let's start with cost. I was charged $125 for a Trip Call and labor on top of that. Annoying enough when a company double charges you, but on top of that they charged me $700 for a Door King digital lock that's available online for under $300. Even worse, the tech who installed it sealed it with water-based silicone so when it rained that night, the silicone washed down all over our gate pillar. And because it wasn't properly sealed, water leaked into the box itself, jeopardizing the electronics inside. Do not hire this company. read more

From scheduling to the service call itself, John C. and the team at Elite Access were on time, professional, and did a great job.

We unknowingly hired and paid these rip off scam artists $360 to do a job that they failed to do correctly, causing a theft in our garage due to a malfunctioning track that they failed to identify as the problem (it was an obvious and cheap fix). Instead, they overcharged (by a factor of over 2X what a reputable competitor would charge) to replace a couple photo eyes that were not the problem. When they came back they again tried to overcharge (by a factor of 3X this time, $590!) to fix the track that they failed to fix the first time. It's an easy job, that others would charge no more than $200 for parts/trip/labor. We protested and they were immediately highly defensive, as if they deal with this sort of problem often. A sketchy hothead owner by the name of Andrew Russell who works out of 17629 Chatsworth Street, Granada Hills, CA 91344 wrote a couple defensive unprofessional emails and ends up 'offering' to do the fix for $200 "Take it or leave it" (which is what they should have charged to begin with). No thanks, we'll do our business elsewhere, but this unprofessional and unethical company with their contractor's license 761010 will surely hear more from us in the near future. I have an older gate and an older Doorking 1504 entry keypad at my home in Malibu. Over time water had leaked in and damaged the mother board. Instead of recommending to change the whole unit which you can buy for roughly $800, they replaced the motherboard and charged me $1900! Bad of me for not checking on the pricing of a new unit ahead of time (and that is why I am giving them two stars instead of one; I am partially to blame; but I rely on the professional to give me the best path forward and in this case they definitely did not). When I called and complained about the amount of the charge, they said that they were actually giving me a discount as compared to the "retail price" of this motherboard! They are not silver or gold certified repair people for Genie. I called Genie and they are bottom of the list certified. I explained what happened to Genie and what they charged and they were not happy with them at all. Stay far away from this company. I have been using Elite Access Gates for far too long. They come out, supposedly fix any issue with my gates for an enormous amount of money, and the issues recur within weeks. I recently spent another enormous amount and was told that everything would be perfect. Once again, several major issues went wrong. When I called 34 days later (after at least 4 issues occured) I was told there was a 30 day warranty. I am done with these inept, crooked criminals. read more

I contacted Elite Access Doors on 10-18-18 @ 8:30 am and was told they would be out by 11:00 am. Shortly after that I received another call saying they were on there way and arrived at 9:30 am. We had a broken spring on our overhead door and the cost of the spring was $125. I agreed to change both springs. Austin went out to his truck and came back with a contract with a price of $453 There was going to be $180 for installation and testing. At that time Austin mentioned my 2 bottom panels were slightly bent. (They looked fine to me) When they finished installing 2 new springs they reconnected the emergency release and tested, and the door went down without being connected to opener and the door slammed to the ground. Totally unprofessional on there part. Just before the job was completed Austin came up with another contract now for $575 which now included a Trip Charge fee $65 and Labor fee of $60 and $180 for installation and $250 for springs. Never was I told there was a trip charge fee and additional labor fee. I was then told if I did a yelp review they would give me a 5% discount. When discount was applied it was only on the $60 labor for $3. Talk about bait and switch I was that person. Door does work fine but I would not recommend Elite Access Doors. read more

Had a terrible experience with this company. Be careful. All they want to do is charge you a trip charge and then $90 per 1/2 hour. The tried charging me fir the trip charge and an entire hour. They were on site fir 20 minutes. Could not fix my gate pad. When we called them we explained we did not have the re-programming code. They told us no worries they could still fix it. When they came put the Tecnician had no idea that we didn't have the code. He stood around fir the 20 minutes and then left. Next thing I know I guy an invoice fir $266. They are arrogant. We order the simple service on the intercom and they charge as almost $300 for the part, which can easily be purchase for $100 anywhere. Called Elite, they send over a tech who barely did anything but change out a small circuit board, and I got charged $160.00 for 'labor'. After that, the system was still not up to par, the tech, obviously done with his work then told me that "if I want to program the system, contact the manufacturer and they will walk you through it" What kind of business is this?!?!? The WHOLE reason I had the 'professional' there was to fix the problem! He only solved half of it!! What a lazy POS! Tech came out to determine necessary repairs, but repairs to wiring may be complicated. Just learned that the company that installed the gate and the control box does not do repairs to systems older than one year. Now awaiting a quote. The tech appeared young, but professional and patient; he used clever means to try to figure out the issue. (Not sure if AT&T did something to the line.) This location is not inexpensive, but if they can get the (complicated) job done, then it may be worth the price. 5 stars will be provided, depending on job estimate and completion. I'm Back: the estimate was extremely high...in the thousands. I contacted ATT, which sent another tech to check the line. This smart tech simply lifted the line which was sitting in the dirt, found the short, fixed the problem, and didn't charge me a dime. Caveat emptor. read more
