Roy did it again! The weight of my door was imbalanced and it caused one of my bolts attached to J arm to come loose (even though it was securely fastened with a washer). This caused the door not to close because the motor noticed it was doing too much work. I had just installed a brand new garage door opener on a garage door that had not been serviced for almost 30 years. The last time anyone did anything to it was when it was installed after the 94 earthquake. After installation of the new motor the door STRUGGLED to open to the point where it would stop about a foot off the ground. I traced back the steps I took to install the motor and in that process I discovered the broken spring (1st picture). This was at 9pm saturday evening. I reached out for quotes from multiple vendors here on yelp and decided to go with Roy for a few reasons: 1) His assistant Michelle replied back to my request for a quote within 20 minutes. 2) Their pricing structure was much less complicated and straightforward than their competition. Also their quote was very very reasonable for the services that I required. Michelle helped lock in an appointment the very next day in the morning and Roy came right on time. Talk to him for a few minutes and you'll quickly realize how knowledgable and passionate he is about his work. He showed me a few things that concerned him and he made some recommendations. NOT pushy at all. We agreed to swap out both springs and both cables and then he got to work. He was done in under 1 hour. Roy also went above and beyond by staying after the install to ensure everything was operating properly with my newly installed motor, lubricated and tuned up the door at no cost AND disposed of my old garage motor + track and the broken springs he replaced. Ray and I discussed the broken garage door spring and he estimated that the repair would be about $350, half of the $750 that was estimated by a different technician who we used in the past. Ray arrived at my home about two hours after I first contacted his office. He looked at the condition of the springs and followed through on his estimate of $350 to replace both of the springs. It turned out that the job was a little more complicated than we expected. He replaced the springs with the same model spring that broke even though the Garage Door was well balanced It did not operate smoothly. He persisted, adjusting the settings, but ultimately replaced the springs with a different model that worked perfectly.
