In May 2022 the owner and I agreed to terms, and contracted his shop to complete my engine swap, turn key running. 3-4 month turnaround for $3500 half due upfront. Most parts required were already purchased and/or with the vehicle inc. a new wiring harness. In June was told work was going to begin. I visited the shop in July, NOTHING had been done except cover my car with plastic. I expressed concern with the lack of progress and contact. I was assured that it would get done and better communication would occur. Two more months (Aug & Sep), more parts were requested and delivered and more excuses for lack of progress. Early October was told engine and trans would be mated the next day. Two weeks later I again called the owner and expressed my displeasure with his lack of progress up to this point. November- more excuses of waiting on tools (plasma cutter) to finish. December- was texted that the cutter arrived, pics from him sent showing them using a cutting wheel, no plasma cutter. More delays with HVAC system work never performed. Middle of February 2023- Was told project almost complete with startup by the end of the week. No contact for a month. March- Asked about startup, no startup, more excuses about a wiring issue when given a brand new wiring harness at the beginning. April- reported wiring issues resolved, startup that week. May- My wife went to shop and took pictures of my car as they are only open on weekdays. NONE of the work reported complete was done except the wiring harness being plugged in, only the engine mounted in the car, and subframe spacers installed. And mind you that I was dealing with my mothers terminal cancer and eventual death right after mid October which he promised the car would be done before. June- I arrived unannounced to pick up my property and terminate contract. The owner reneged on his own prior commitment of a full refund he made to my wife prior, and after some arguing, I agreed to 51% of my deposit back. This didnt include, the promise to replace my engine stand he lost the adapter plate to, the stale check he wrote me, the 2nd check I got his bank wouldnt cash, the call to local police, multiple trips to and from his bank , nor the fact he had to show up personally for his bank to cash the check. Fast forward to today. I am just getting back to the project car, after sitting in storage. I find that the brackets from my radiator/intercooler kit were missing, an $1100 new wiring harness was cut/damaged in multiple spots and missing a critical connector, my engine stand STILL NOT replaced. I dont know if, or what else I will find wrong due to this owner's incompetence and duplicity. I'm pretty sure the owner will jump on here and say I'm lying, however I have ALL the texts and pictures to PROVE all of the OWNER'S lies and shady tactics. STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS unless you want shoddy work or no work done at all and be lied to your face. You have been WARNED! read more

They installed my Intoxalock Baaid device on my car maybe 6 mos ago. They butchered my car, my steering column is coming apart, I have wires and stuff hanging from my hood and gas tank release. I just tried to get my emissions done and they can't get to whatever it is they have to hook up to because of this. I've had 2 false lockouts because of their inferior work. My 11 year old probably couldve done a better job. Intoxalock customer service is a joke, all they can do is send me a form that they will MAYBE be able to reimburse, not pay for their preferred shop that can't even put it together right. How does an auto place not know anything about cars??? Oh and it takes Intoxalock 24-48 business hours to send an email, which would be a standard form. Seriously??? I can't afford to pay to get this fixed up front. They also expect me to bring it back to the place that has no idea what they're doing to begin with. Now I can't get my emissions done, which means my plates will be bad which means I can still get in trouble driving when the purpose of this horrible device is to keep me out of trouble. I need this fixed like yesterday. Horrible company, and horrible shop. I only used them because they were the closest available at the time to get it done so I didn't lose my driving privileges. I am beyond angry. I always try to be calm and civil with people, but nobody is making this easy. This is not something I should have to pay to fix. I have a Benz E350 that got scraped on the left side (a pretty big one). Did not go through insurance and after shopping around got the reference for Luis from Elite Auto. He did a very good job of cleaning it up and also removed door dings from other cars parking too close. It started with a "Do you hear that?" while driving home one night. It was a sputtering just loud enough to question, faint enough to dismiss. The vibrating over 30 mph was a nice foot massage. The car jerking violently in to gear pulling away from every stop kept you awake if you were driving late. No, it wasn't normal, but when cash is tight it's easy to try to look on the bright side of glaring car issues. And completely ignore things like the "Check engine" light. Soon enough , my husband and I realized that we had to yell to make ourselves heard over the noise. Then the car failed the emissions test the first time. The Toyota was crying for help in many not-so-subtle ways. Optimism be damned, we needed to pass that emissions test if we wanted to renew the license plates. So, we went to a shop in the city who let us know that they couldn't do anything because the computer in our car was recalled by Toyota. Enter Elite Auto Center, My cousin owns it, which is how I know about it, but we never went because the car issues we've had in the past precluded us from being able to get the car out to Plainfield. This time we could finally go out there. If we had to spend the money, anyway, why not support a small business? We made an appointment. Luis took in the "patient" and determined that the computer was causing the violent jerking (gear shift timing issue controlled by the computer) The diagnostic post computer replacement revealed the codes reported at the emission testing center were part of the glitch & that they were never an issue. The check engine light was also extinguished. But there was still the shaking and deafening issue to address. We were invited in to the garage and we were walked through the issues: A (very) worn wheel bearing and a few other loose/worn arms by the wheels. If my cousin actually reads this he's going to laugh at me because he explained it so clearly in layman's terms and I am spacing on the exact terms, even though I even held the worn bearing in my hands & completely understood it at the time. He let us know that there were other minor issues that didn't need attention now. While we waited, a very sweet woman was waiting for her brake pads to be replaced. The mechanics were kind enough to also touch up a scratch on the house for her & other minor repairs. So, we weren't getting a red carpet treatment. We were getting the regular great service his customers always get. When we got the car back, we were stunned. The shaking & noise stopped.We could talk to each other instead of yelling. I forgot cars could be this quiet. We drove home in a SERIOUS storm and the car handled beautifully. These mechanics are pros. The next day, Luis followed up with us to see how the car was doing. I was happy to report that our car feels like it's almost new. That's some amazing customer service. PS *I struggled disclosing that the owner is my cousin attached to a 5 star review. The struggle wasn't because Elite Auto Center doesn't deserve it (they really do), but because I didn't want that family association to discredit this review in anyone's eyes. But then, I would feel very wrong NOT mentioning it . Thankfully, my angst is relieved by the fact that this review only exists because husband and I were paying customers in need of some serious help for our car & we were really, really happy with our experience. I found Elite Auto on yelp I was looking to get my wheel bearing replaced on LexusRx330 as it was making a humming sound. I talked with with many auto mechanics but I found Louis knowledgeable, he was quick to answer many questions & he quoted me on the phone , his price is fair & he did a good job on my car.I will go back to him for future car issues. I would have given him 5 stars but his shop was under renovation I hope he keeps his area of work clean to attract more customers. read more

We had the best experience here! They were super friendly, fixed our car fast and were very responsible. The work they did was great. My son rear ended someone and did significant damage to the front end of his car. They fixed it good as new and you would never know the accident happened. Well said, cousin of Luis. I am not related in any way. Went initially for retrofit of better audio and DRL's on a 2005 Acura MDX. Was so impressed that I went back with cars from our "family fleet" another 5 times. Excellent service every time. Luis is a trustworthy owner and his crew is very competent. They are fair, reasonable, and quick. My own opinion is that we should value vendors like Elite auto center. I know I do. Luis is professional, honest, and hard-working. His "car side manner" is exceptional. His personality and welcoming manner won me over quickly. Wish I could give 0 stars! They don't even deserve 1. Worse Place ever. Gut seemed knowledgeable and full of information. Was referred to this place by a friend. Had brake lines done and was just told after the brakes failed that the lines were cross threaded so I have to have them redone correctly by another shop. When my truck was there, he gave me a diagnosis (which I didn't ask for) for other work that he said that I "needed". My truck ran worse than it ever did! I took it to another mechanic and he told me that the spark plug wires were cut. Ironically this was on the list of thing that needed to be repaired in the $2,000 dollar estimate. I had them replace a serpentine belt on another car about 3 months ago, it broke and left my wife stranded. WORSE PLACE I'VE EVER DONE BUSINESS WITH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

That being said I took my car there & Luis the new owner helped me out. He was very professional & seemed very honest. I took my car to ELITE AUTO to see how much it would be to get my brakes fixed. The first day I drop my car off for 6 hours expecting them to be working on it like they promised, only to arrive with a slight apology saying how busy they were. The day after I drop it off for another 6 hours for them to do nothing to my car, and then finally the third day in a row I sit and wait for 4 hours while they perform a 2.5-hour job. I paid around 300 dollars to get my brakes "fixed" only to find out that what they thought was wrong wasn't the problem. My car needed a new master cylinder, and was unsafe to drive so I let them fix it for another 300 dollars. 2 weeks after both repairs I notice my brake fluid is leaking (never leaked before ELITE AUTO). So I took it back up to have them check it, and apparently they once again "fixed" it by tightening the master cylinder. Now 2 months have past and my brakes are still leaking, so I take it back up to them to see why my brakes are still leaking. Well it turns out that They put a faulty part on my car without even thinking about the consequences, and if it had me get into an accident. So I let them replace the faulty part they put on because the part was still under warranty. So I drop my car off for a full day and a half to finally receive a call to say it was ready and good to go at around 2pm. I am able to go into the shop around 4:20pm thinking that it will be quick. I stand in line for 5 mins and then I hear "I'll take the next person in line" only to wait another 5 minutes while the woman finishes cashing out the customer in front of me. (Now it's 4:30 I have to be at work at 5.) The woman starts to look up my information then ask for me to pay my 6 dollars that I owe for the repair. The part is under warranty so I decline and ask them why am I paying that. She had no idea nor the man standing next to her. Another 10 minutes goes by and they finally get my bill settled. So they hand me my service packet, and just before I walk out the door I didn't see my key. I asked them to please give me my key. (It's now 4:45 and I'm running late for work.) Now during this whole time not a single person actually seemed to care that I was in a rush, and also the fact that they were doing their jobs to the least of their abilities. ELITE AUTO LOST MY KEY, and after 45 minutes of checking to see if they locked it in my car, looking in the trash, under the stapler, and even the guy who claimed to be the manager came to look for my key never saying a single word to me about the inconvenience that they are causing me. (It's now 5:30 I am late for work.) I will never go to them ever again to have my time wasted and my patience tested. It is truly a dysfunctional shop with terrible customer service.
